Who's Not Somehow Linked To ZANU-PF - Mangwana
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana, has dismissed allegations by the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zimbabwe that the new TV Licence holders are either linked to the ruling ZANU PF or the government.
MISA Zimbabwe made the allegations after the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe had awarded six companies free-to-air national commercial television broadcasting service licences.
The institute alleged that there was no diversity adding that “the new TV licence holders either already hold print or broadcasting licences or are linked to the government or the governing party.”
Responding to the allegations, Mangwana suggested that the process of granting licences was done objectively. He said:
Let’s Talk about those who did not get TV Licences and their association with ZANU PF or Govt:
1-Heart and Soul- Mr Ncube is a PAC member
2-AB Comms -Hon Mandiwanzira ZANU PF MP
3- Blackberry Zim- Tobaiwa Mudede former RG
4- Continental TV- Backed by Hon Chadzamira -ZANU PF
5- JIT TV- Tongara Family and Terence Mukupe
6- MediaNet -Fronted Warvet Doug Dhliwayo
7-Meditation -owned by same people as Jester who were given a licence.
8- Conduit fronted by Machana ZIFA Board Member.

So @misazimbabwe who is not somehow linked to Govt or ZANU PF?
BAZ received fourteen applications earlier this year but approved only six (6) saying the other eight (8) had failed to meet the minimum requirements.
This comes amid increased calls for Zimbabwe to implement genuine media reforms.
The granting of new licences to many players was premised at ending decades-long monopoly by the state broadcaster, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).
