ED Launches Scholarship Program
President Mnangagwa has launched an exchange scholarship program branded the Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa University of Zambia Scholarship. The ED UNZA scholarship will see students from Zimbabwe being transferred to the University Of Zambia and Zambian Students being transferred to Zimbabwe and all their costs being met by the new presidential scholarship scheme. This was revealed by the information Ministry Permanent secretary Nick Mangwana who said:
The ED-UNZA Scholarship Programme was launched today at the University of Zimbabwe by Hon Minister Prof Murwira representing HE @edmnangagwa This an exchange scholarship programme between Zimbabwe (UZ) and Zambia (UNZA). All l costs covered by FBC bank as part of their CSR.
According to the National Broadcaster ZBC, the first batch of the scholarship beneficiaries is ready to go to UNZA:
The first batch of Zimbabwean students going to study at the University of Zambia under the Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa University of Zambia Scholarship, was seen off today at the University of Zimbabwe.The students were selected from the country’s 10 Provinces.
FBC will reportedly be taking care of the costs and it has already donated laptops to the students:
The ED-UNZA Scholarship programme will have all costs covered by @FBCBank as part of their Social Coorperate Responsibility. The bank also donated laptops and Tablets on top of catering for the tuition of the Zimbabwean and Zambian students.
During President Mugabe’s tenure as a president, students were sent to various institutions in South Africa mainly Fort Hare where he went to school under the presidential scholarship scheme.
