Madagascar President Sacks All His Ministers

Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina has sacked all his cabinet ministers weeks after an alleged attempt to kill him was foiled.

The presidency announced the sackings late on Wednesday but gave no reasons for the move.

Rajoelina on Sunday criticized some of his ministers’ performances as being unsatisfactory. He was quoted by Reuters as saying:

Like in a football team, you have to change when there are failures in government.

There will be a change and this concerns those who do not carry out the work entrusted to them.

He remained in control at the head of a transitional government until 2014.

He took office for his current term in January 2019 after winning the country’s 2018 presidential election.
