ZERA Delays Announcing Fuel Prices For October
The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has postponed announcing diesel and petrol prices for the month of October to a later date.
ZERA is obliged to review and announce fuel prices by the 5th of every month but failed to do so today “due to developments that are taking place” on the international oil market. It said:
According to Statutory Instrument 270 of 2019, Petroleum (Petroleum Products Pricing) Regulations, the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) is supposed to review and announce fuel prices by the 5th of every month.
FeedbackHowever, due to developments that are taking place, ZERA will issue a statement on the September 2021 fuel prices after the statutory set date.
ZERA is working vigorously to have the fuel prices for the month announced and are paying close attention to trends on the international oil market while consulting local key stakeholders on the likely impact of the developments on the final pump prices.
Fuel operators are therefore urged to continue trading as per the August 2021 fuel prices while consultations are being finalised. The September 2021 fuel prices will be announced in due course.
This is not the first time that ZERA delayed the reviewing of fuel prices this year. The authority announced the September 2021 fuel prices on the 8th.
The current fuel prices are as follows: the maximum pump price of diesel is ZWL$115.15 or US$1.34 per litre and petrol is ZWL$118.42 or US$1.38 per litre.
