Biti Begs Ramaphosa And SADC To Censure ZANU PF
MDC Alliance vice president Tendai Biti has implored South Africa president, Cyril Ramaphosa, and other regional leaders to intervene in Zimbabwe and restore constitutionalism and the rule of law.
This follows last week’s attack on MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa’s convoy in Masvingo rural, some 300km from the capital Harare. Said Biti:
The attack on, our president, Advocate Nelson Chamisa is irrevocable proof beyond any reasonable doubt that ZANU Pf is a bloody, violent, fascist, illegitimate, tired and exhausted liberation movement.
FeedbackThis is the message we have been trying to make to President Ramaphosa and to SADC that Zimbabwe is a lawless country run by a tired, exhausted liberation movement that has no respect for constitutionalism, the rule of law, and the rights of citizens.
Chamisa was on a party mobilisation campaign in Masvingo Province ahead of the 2023 national elections when vehicles that were part of his convoy were smashed and stoned while roads were barricaded by suspected ZANU PF supporters.
Last year Ramaphosa and South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) despatched mediators to Harare for talks with ZANU PF but nothing positive came out of the engagements.
