PREAMBLE: ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON MONDAY 31 JANUARY 2022 VALID UNTIL WEDNESDAY 02 FEBRUARY 2022.
The atmosphere is becoming generally less moist from the southern parts of the country, namely provinces such as Matabeleland South, Masvingo and Manicaland. As such, while light rain-showers occurred in a number of places, the only places that received above 10mm yesterday were: Banket (21mm), Mvurwi (13mm) and R. G. Mugabe International Airport (12mm).
FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, TUESDAY 01 FEBRUARY 2022;
Briefly cloudy and warm conditions with scattered afternoon thunderstorms are expected in Matabeleland North, northern areas of Midlands, all Mashonaland Provinces including Harare Metropolitan and the northern areas of Manicaland, provinces; however, the rainfall amount are generally light. It should be mostly sunny and warm in areas south of the main watershed, namely Bulawayo Metropolitan, southern parts of Midlands, Matabeleland South, Masvingo and southern districts of Manicaland, provinces; though mild in the morning and evening.

• Lightning may still strike from a distant cloud, even when the sky overhead is clear.
• Flooded rivers remain a potential hazard; even if it has not rained heavily in the area, heavy rains may have occurred upstream.
ACTIONS TO TAKE,
• The projected wanner and less moist conditions make it conducive for on-farm activities, but always remember when Thunder roars, it is best to be indoors! If outdoor, try and find shelter immediately; do not shelter under trees or in isolated sheds
• Do not ride at the back of an open truck or drive a tractor during a storm; keep away from metal equipment and pipes, or kitchen areas as these are prone to lightning strikes.
• Avoid crossing flooded rivers and swollen streams whether on foot or in a vehicle.
• Heavy downpours may reduce visibility and flood dangers become difficult to perceive during heavy rains. Avoid being outdoors during heavy rains.

Isolated afternoon thunderstorms are expected in Matabeleland North, northern areas of Midlands, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central and Harare Metropolitan, provinces with brief cloudy and warm conditions, though mild both morning and evening. Bulawayo Metropolitan, southern parts of Midlands, Matabeleland South, Masvingo, Manicaland and Mashonaland East, provinces should be mostly sunny and warm for much of the day, becoming mild towards evening.
