PREAMBLE: ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON SATURDAY 05 FEBRUARY 2022 VALID UNTIL MONDAY 07 FEBRUARY 2022.
Cloudy conditions which were experienced across the country yesterday resulted in widespread thunderstorms with localized downpours (in excess of 30mm) at Chinhoyi (60mm). Mutoko (56mm), Victoria Falls (41mm) and Mukandi (34mm). Meanwhile, the Tropical Cyclone Batsirai which is over southern areas of Madagascar is strengthening the south-easterly airflow into the country.
FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, SUNDAY 06 FEBRUARY 2022;
It is expected to be mostly cloudy and warm with scattered afternoon thunderstorms in Matabeleland North. northern areas of Midlands, all Mashonaland Provinces, Harare Metropolitan. and northern parts of Manicaland. It should be cloudy. mild and windy with a patchy drizzle in the morning. becoming less cloudy and warm in Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan. southern areas of Midlands, Masvingo and southern parts of Manicaland Provinces.

• The projected wanner and less moist conditions make it conducive for on-farm activities. but always remember when Thunder roars. it is best to be indoors! If outdoor. try and find shelter immediately: do not shelter under trees or in isolated sheds
• Do not ride at the back of an open truck or drive a tractor during a storm: keep away from metal equipment and pipes. or kitchen areas as these are prone to lightning strikes.
OUTLOOK: WEATHER FORECAST FOR MONDAY 07 FEBRUARY 2022:
It should be mostly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon thundershowers in Matabeleland North, northern areas of Midlands, all Mashonaland Provinces, Harare Metropolitan, and northern parts of Manicaland. It is anticipated to be mild in the morning and towards the evening. Brief cloudy periods. windy and mild conditions are expected in areas south of the main watershed.
