Zimbabwe Won't Rush To Lift COVID-19 Restrictions - Mahomva
The Government says it will not bow down to pressure to lift COVID-19 restrictions after South Africa announced that it would ease its own measures this month.
The South African government said that it will soon ease COVID-19 control measures following pressure from business, opposition parties and health experts.
COVID-19 National Taskforce chief coordinator Agnes Mahomva on Tuesday told NewsDay that Zimbabwe will make decisions based on local data and not on what other countries do. She said:
We do not follow what other countries are doing. We are guided by numbers and what is on the ground.
We are also guided by our local data and that is what we look at.

As a country, we are doing well as we recently recorded a 46% decline in cases.
We recently launched a vaccination blitz and we are optimistic that cases will go down sharply.
As of Tuesday, 5 April 2022, 5 582 115 people had received at least a single COVID-19 vaccine jab while those who had received three jabs were 476 781.
