One Killed During Clash Between Operation Dudula Members, Informal Settlement Residents

The leader of South Africa’s rising anti-immigration group, Operation Dudula, claimed that foreigners opened fire on his group in Soweto.

Ntlantla Mohlauhi, better known as Nhlanhla “Lux” Dlamini said they were attacked by Zimbabweans and Basotho in Soweto’s Kliptown informal settlements while looking for people linked with the stealing of power cables. He tweeted:

We just got shot at with AK47s and R5s in Soweto! Zimbabweans and Sotho Nationals opened fire on a SA community crowd that was attending to cable theft.

My guys got hit! My guys got hit! My guys got hit! Commanders MORNING!

In a subsequent tweet, Dlamini shared a picture of one of his colleagues who had what appears to be a gunshot wound. He said:

We were ambushed by illegal foreigners with rifles! One of our guys died on the spot; we are waiting for hospitals to update us on the 5+ SA women who got shot from the back.

QUESTION for illegal foreigners & SA politicians; are u sure about this route you are taking?

The South Africa Police Service (SAPS) confirmed the violence at Chicken Farm informal settlement but refuted claims that Dlamini was shot and injured.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili said a man was shot and killed while a woman was injured. Said Brigadier Muridili:

… There was an altercation where shots were fired. A man and woman were shot and injured. The man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The woman is at Kliptown police station opening a criminal case. It is not yet clear from which group the injured belong.

Dlamini did not sustain any injuries. They are allegedly complaining about the theft of electricity [cables] by the Chicken Farm dwellers.
