ZESA Employee Suffers Bone Fractures As A Powerline Pole Collapses

An employee of the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) suffered bone fractures on Thursday after a pole fell as he worked on overhead copper cables in the Entumbane suburb in Bulawayo.
According to witnesses, the unidentified guy, who is believed to be in his 30s, was removing some wires while tied to the pole when the pole suddenly collapsed, sending him plummeting several meters to the ground. One resident told ZimLive:
He was in serious pain with broken bones on the legs.
FeedbackThe technician was rushed to a local hospital where his condition could not be ascertained.
According to a ZESA representative, all accidents involving personnel of the power provider are thoroughly examined to avoid repeat incidents.

The spokesperson also said workers’ safety “is our top priority.” The spokesperson told ZimLive:
Regrettably, something has happened in this incident and we are urgently looking into it.
The spokesperson also said the technician is receiving the necessary medical attention adding “our prayers go out to him and his family.”
