Slicker 1, real name Farai Larry Makombe, added the 1 as he is the only child in his family, born and raised in a Christian family on the streets of Highfield in Harare, Zimbabwe.


Background

Education

Slicker attended Mbizi Primary school in Highfield, were he enrolled in music classes at an early age playing xylophone (marimba) under the direction of his teacher.

Music career

Slicker's stage presence was recognised when he performed at his first ever Variety Show at Bradley institute high school were he scooped multiple awards & his passion for music was ignited. As a young adult he left Zimbabwe for Australia to start a new chapter.

He recorded his first song in 2009 under a popular Hiphop group in Melbourne known as R.O.L (Rich over the leaf) which later was renamed to Dark Spaid Recording label

Slicker 1 has collaborated with both local and international artists from South Africa, Jamaica, Australia, USA, Canada, UK, Nigeria, Kenya & Zimbabwe with artists namely Sean Paul, Beenie Man, Brick n Lace , Gappy Ranks , Timaya, Dbanji , Jah Mason, Million Styles, Collie Buddz , Demarco, Elephant Man, Dizzy Dee, Maxi priest. ZimDancehall and Urban Grooves artists such as Winky D, Tocky Vibes, Dj Smiley, Roki, Soul Jah Love, Stunner, Di Apprentice and Nox Guni. [1]

In his first year as a sophomore Slicker won the DanceHall King Competition 2013 in Australia. In 2016 he launched his debut mixtape which was executive produced by Dizzy Dee at Just4FunGrafix which was downloaded 8347 in its first 24 hours. Slicker is currently touring around the country doing shows and promoting it.
