Govt approves plans to construct a $1,5 million Grace Mugabe hall in Chitungwiza
Government has reportedly approved Zanu PF Harare province’s proposal to construct a $1,5 million Grace Mugabe party hall whichwill also house offices in Chitungwiza.
Zanu-PF Harare province’s political commissar Shadreck Mashayamombe, confirmed the development to NewsDay, saying the project had been cleared by the Local Government ministry through Chitungwiza Town Council. The 6 000-seater hall is set to be built on 3 000m² of land which was partly donated by Chitungwiza businessman, Wellington Peyama, with the party’s province reportedly buying the remainder from Chitungwiza Town Council.
Zanu-PF has in the past failed to construct a $6,5 million conference centre in Gweru in 2012 for the party’s 13th annual people’s conference despite assurances by the leadership the venue would be a tourist attraction for both locals and foreigners.
