Intelligence Sources Suggest G40 Is Buying Weapons
Eddie Cross, founder member of the mainstream Movement for Democratic Change party led by Nelson Chamisa and former Bulawayo South Parliamentarian lauded president Mnangagwa’s commitment to reforms. He also claimed that members of the G40 cabal are buying arms to instigate a war in the country.
Speaking at the Cape Town Press Club in South Africa, Cross said:
(President) Mnangagwa is committed to reform; he has not received sufficient recognition for what he has done. But he has to deal with recalcitrant elements in his party; intelligence sources suggest G40 is buying weapons.
FeedbackIt was alleged that the G40 cabal was a faction within Zanu-PF led by former First Lady Grace Mugabe. Allegations also said that the group intended to inherit both party and state power from the then president Robert Mugabe. Politicians most linked to the group include Professor Jonathan Moyo, Grace Mugabe, and Messrs Saviour Kasukuwere and Patrick Zhuwawo.
The news comes at a time when there are allegations that some members of the ruling party are seeking the removal of president Mnangagwa.
