JUST IN: Mighty Warriors Boycott Zambia Olympic Qualifier
The Mighty Warriors boycotted the Olympic qualifier match against Zambia in protest over the outstanding bonuses from the COSAFA Women Championship held last month.
The match was scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
According to Zifa, Blue Swallows, Correctional Queens, and Black Rhinos Queens withdrew their players yesterday evening. ZIFA did not mention what caused the withdrawal of players.
ZIFA is attempting to have the match postponed to Monday, 2 September, by FIFA but it’s not clear if this will happen.
The Football Association of Zambia has said that it will wait to hear from FIFA what the outcome of the unplayed match is:
