MDC Officials Meet SADC Secretariat In Botswana3 years ago
The opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) on Monday met with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) secretariat in Gaborone, Botswana to appraise the regional body of the situation obtaining in Zimbabwe.
The MDC delegation was led by deputy president Welshman Ncube and met SADC executive secretary Dr Stergomena Lawrence Tax. In a Twitter post after the meeting, Tax said:
During meeting with representatives of MDC today, I reiterated continued SADC support to Zimbabwe and called upon all players (internal and external) to cooperate and put the interests of Zimbabweans first.Feedback
The MDC has been pushing for a dialogue with President Emmerson Mnangagwa to deal with the crises which have driven millions of Zimbabweans into penury.
Mnangagwa has hitherto refused to meet MDC leader Nelson Chamisa face to face, insisting that the latter should join the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD), a gathering of little-known presidential candidates whose total votes were less than 5 per cent combined.
