Chamisa "Reveals" Why MDC Is Losing To ZANU PF In By-Elections3 years ago
Nelson Chamisa the leader of the opposition MDC has attributed his party’s poor performance in by-elections to the conduct of the ruling ZANU PF, before, during and after the elections.
Addressing members of the media at the party’s headquarters in Harare on Wednesday, Chamisa claimed that ZANU PF was turning the plight of the electorate into a political weapon.
He suggested that during his tour of the country’s ten provinces recently, he was told of how ZANU PF was manipulating voters. He said:
People have asked me ‘president Chamisa, you are saying we must vote for MDC in a by-election, but here are the twin hazards…number one, if we vote for an MDC councillor, the moment we do so we are going to be victimised soon after the election.
Number two cause; the is hunger, ‘you don’t have the capacity to give us food. So why not feed ourselves until the next election’.

Chamisa also discredited the elections saying that the playing field was not level as ZANU PF was abusing state resources for political mileage.
The MDC has since threatened to boycott the 2023 elections if electoral reforms are not implemented and until the 2018 election dispute has been resolved.
