SRC Considers PSL Proposals On Football Resumption
The Premier Soccer League sports medicine committee has submitted its proposals for the safe return of football to the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).
SRC director-general Prince Mupazviriho acknowledged that they have received the proposals from the Edward Chagonda-led team and that they were “studying the document to make sure it meets all the requirements”. Said Mupazviriho:
We are studying the document and, of course, we are the sportspeople and receive such documents with both arms.
FeedbackWe will consider it based on that because that is our job to try and assist whatever comes to us.
If you have a proposal and you are seriously considering that proposal, you have to consider every detail to make sure that you understand it correctly and it enables you to meet the intended objective.
Remember these things go through committees; it’s not an individual decision.
Indications are that an official position will be announced by early next week signalling the start of preparations for the resumption of football competitions.
The PSL medical committee has set very stringent conditions that include regular testing, social distancing, sanitisation and disinfection before the game can be allowed to return.
Football activities have been on suspension since March this year when the country went into lockdown to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
