Harare Man Crushes Stepson's Head Over Z$20 Airtime
A man from Harare crushed his stepson’s head with a hammer following a misunderstanding over the purchase of airtime recharge cards, police have confirmed.
Through their Twitter account, the police said the man gave his son US$1.00 to buy airtime worth ZWL$20.00.
However, the boy used the whole amount, which is approximately ZWL$90, to buy the airtime and this angered his stepfather who then took a hammer and pounded his head. Police said:
A Harare man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his stepson on the 7th of February 2021. The suspect gave the victim US$1-00 to go and buy airtime worth RTGS$20-00.
The victim used the whole amount to buy airtime and this angered the suspect who pounded the victim with a hammer and he died.
