Mzembi Has Predicted Inclusive Dialogue

Exiled former Tourism Minister, Walter Mzembi, has predicted political engagement and inclusive dialogue in Zimbabwe as a result of the “defaulted” ZEC delimitation report.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) conducted a delimitation exercise and produced a report which was gazetted by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The delimitation report will be used in the harmonised elections scheduled for July.

Stakeholders including the ruling ZANU PF, the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change and the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) have said the delimitation process was flawed.

In a Twitter post seen by Pindula News, Mzembi said there will likely be political engagement. Reads the prediction posted on his 59th birthday:

My birthday message to Zimbabweans is what I see coming. Constitutional stalemate which may be predicated by a defaulted ZEC delimitation report if challenged. It will usher us to the next stage of political engagement and inclusive dialogue. This is my analysis nothing to do with wanting to be accommodated. Let’s see how time reveals things not easily seen by many people or that they probably don’t understand.

The opposition MDC led by Senator Douglas Mwonzora has already approached the courts to have the delimitation report nullified.

Mwonzora says the delimitation report violates the constitution. He also demanded that election dates must be announced only after the delimitation exercise has been re-done.

On the other hand, CCC has said an election boycott is out of the question although Zimbabwe needs electoral reforms.

Mzembi predicted inclusive dialogue when Nelson Chamisa who leads the CCC party has since 2018 refused to participate in the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) platform initiated by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Chamisa says nothing meaningful will come out of POLAD.

Kwete, ngavatange kuwirirana kuita ma elections akanaka then vowirirana kuzotaurirana futi after ma elections. Ma elections ngaaitwe on condition yekuti vanozotaurirana vambotanga vaona kuti ndiani ane vote yakawanda. Talks before, during and after elections will carry Zimbabwe to the next level. Unless they create a prime minister's post for Mr Chamisa but it will not be powerful without proper representation of the wishes of the people. He requires a strong parliamentary and ministerial representation from his own side. Elections are essential in avoiding a constitutional crisis. Talks usually come with constitutional manipulations in trying to accommodate other provisions and government posts if elections are not held as scheduled.

Any talks BEFORE will give the likes of Douggie more politocal mojo than he has. Granted the delimitation is said to have some flaws( lets hear what the courts will say) but any dialogue should involve reps chosen by the people and not the courts. Mzembi is right with his analysis.

Obviously the courts will rule in Ed's favor. Remember ed appointed these judges so they r loyal to him,. Tiri pama1 mdara. God save us

My hope is that any dialogue should be done after elections not before. But Douggies court case may scuttle the electiond because the delimitation report is not as per constitution. Should the dialogue occur before elections Douggie will be the biggest winner. Haana vanhu but he will sit at the top table because of the present scenario

One thing everyone must know is that Zanu pf chinhu ichi haisi kuzombochisiya at whatever cost. Zimbabweans alone cannot remove the system without help from other countries like what happened during the liberation struggle. Right now there are much more pressing issues in the world compared to Zim e.g the War in Ukraine, hobho zveku middle East kunana Iran, Syria , Palestine etc. A lot of rebel groups in Africa and hostilities between North Korea and the USA among other issues. Zvekunana Somalia hauzvipedze etc . Saka ma issues ema elections mu Zim is not a global threat to security by any means zvekuti Zanu pf ingavhunduka izvozvo coz dzimwe nyika dzirikutotadza kuita ma elections acho.

Chamisa must just accept defeat, zvinokavhira zvinhu hobho munyika vanhu vakarerukirwa nehupenyu. All frost relations will thaw down. The country will move on progressively and all the imperialists will be ashamed. Sanctions will be defeated too.

Most sensible thing to expect. The ignorant among us will say let's go ahead with the elections under the flawed delimitation and an unaudited voters roll, Those in the know in the opposition know they will win a few seats but not enough to influence things in parliament. While in parliament they will be en joying their pecks while the majority continue to suffer. The most ignoramus will think opposition can win these elections with a majority that can unseat zanupf.
