Dambudzo Marechera is one of the most celebrated writers to have merged from Zimbabwe. He authored many books, some of which would go on to propel him to international acclaim, books such as House of Hunger among others. Notwithstanding the fact that Dambudzo was an outstanding scribe, he led a very controversial life which saw him being arrested for the illegal possession of marijuana, alcohol abuse, altercations with his lecturers, and refusing to take medication for his deteriorating health condition. \

In light of all this, he was still a talented writer.

Marechera was also known for his anti government stance, it was speculated that this was the reason for the non publication of some his works. (Full article...)
