Benhilda Marume was a Zimbabwean actress who rose to fame through her "Tamara" role in Studio 263, a popular Zimbabwean television drama series. She passed away on the 12th of January 2013 at United Bulawayo Hospitals after a short illness.
Background
Marume was born on February 7, 1982 in Bulawayo and she was the last born in a family of six, with two boys and four girls.[1]
Education
Marume did her primary and secondary education at Victoria Primary School and Victoria High School in Masvingo respectively.[1]
Career
Marume played the role of Tamara, a hard-hearted sister to Tom Mbambo, a rich guy in Studio 263. Though-out the drama series, Tamara was a steadfast character who was determined to stick to the notes throughout the different episodes of life. It was during the days of Studio 263 that Tamara rubbed arms with some of top guns in Zimbabwe's film industry. These include the likes of Tongayi Chirisa, Stephen Chigorimbo and Tatenda Mavetera. Before her death, Benhilda was working with the Disabled Women Support Organisation (DWSA) as the programmes officer. She was also a member in the special youth advisory board on disability.[1]
