The father of the nine-year-old girl from Tsholotsho who gave birth in November said that he is eager to see his daughter, the one he was accused of impregnating.
Speaking in an interview with The Sunday News on Friday, the 29-year-old man said this would bring closure and peace to his soul.
The man said he does not have the money to travel from Tsholotsho to Bulawayo to the safe house where she is being kept.
After his daughter was taken to a safe house, the minor allegedly told authorities that her father told her that a goblin would come and insert something into her privates.
But the father gave a different version of the goblin issue, saying it was a prophetess who made the claims. He said:
<blockquote>
Our child was ill since October 2020 and she was assisted by a prophetess who was known by my wife who prayed for her.
She had started developing breasts at seven years old and the prophetess said my daughter was being used by a goblin that was having sexual intercourse with her.
My wife and her mother, that is my mother-in-law are the ones who went to visit the prophetess and stayed there for two weeks.

When she returned home, they were informed that the child was not supposed to enter the homestead until the “spell” cast upon her was removed, the man explained.
He said the girl then went to live at her maternal grandparents’ home for a year.
She returned home in November last year and they were informed that she was now menstruating.
The father said the girl’s mother and her maternal grandmother visited yet another healer who said the menstruation could not be stopped.
When her stomach started bulging the parents never panicked as the prophetess had told them that the stomach was “full of dirt” as a result of having sex with the goblin.
The man said the experiences affected her daughter’s performance at school as her grades had dropped. He said:

We were summoned by the school teacher who said my daughter’s grades had dropped dismally and she also prayed for our daughter.
The menstruation stopped and it was assumed the prayers were now effective yet the child was pregnant.
She, however, complained of stomach pains and was taken to the local clinic and eventually to Tsholotsho District Hospital where it was confirmed that she was over six months pregnant and the matter was referred to the police.
At the police station, we were told we had to be questioned individually about what was happening to the child and I assumed it was all in order.
I was not questioned but I was simply handcuffed and accused of raping my daughter and impregnating her.
I was shocked. One police officer scoffed at me and said ngiluthango oluzidlele amakhomane.

The father initially appeared at the Tsholotsho Magistrate Courts to answer to rape charges on 1 September 2022 and was remanded to 15 November.
After his appearance in court, the father said he requested DNA tests to be conducted in a bid to gain his freedom. He said:
<blockquote>
They told me it was too expensive and I could not afford it and I told them that was the only way I was going to be exonerated because I did not want to die in prison. I also failed to secure bail during that period.
Around 23 November 2022, I was then informed that I would get a DNA test. I also asked that the four other males who lived with us at home also be tested as they equally had access to my child and that was done.

He was summoned to court on 29 November and the magistrate told him that the State had done their investigations and proved that he was not guilty of rape and impregnating his child as DNA results had come out negative.
However, this verdict was opposed by a prosecutor who said the case must be transferred to the Bulawayo Regional Courts.
Even though the magistrate queried this, the father was still transferred where he was held at Khami Remand Prison.
On 8 December he appeared in court in Bulawayo and was told to return on 15 December. He said:

I went to court and was told that my record was nowhere to be found both in Tsholotsho and Bulawayo courts and should return on 19 December. I lost it.
I was very disturbed and had given up on myself, I assumed I had another new case to answer.
Later, on the same day, I was finally discharged. They told me that I was not guilty of the count of rape and that I was a free man.
I blacked out, I could not believe it, after a moment light shone in my eyes and I could see clearly.
I failed to walk; I was still in leg irons. It was a great relief.

The father was finally released from Khami Prison on Tuesday 20 December.

Father Of "Pregnant 9-yr-old" Speaks About "Goblin"

Scores of learners ran amok at Kumalo Primary School in Bulawayo last Thursday claiming they were slapped by an invisible hand in the toilet, while some of the learners claimed to have seen a strange snake.
The incident has become a talking point on parents’ WhatsApp group, reported <a href="https://www.bmetro.co.zw/kumalo-primary-school-attacked-by-goblins-sends-pupils-scurrying-for-cover-slapped-by-an-invisible-hand-and-see-strange-snake/">B-Metro</a>.
The publication reported sources at the school as saying most of the affected pupils were between Grades 3 and 5.
It is alleged that a group of learners heard a mysterious voice shouting at them while they were near the toilet. They fled in different directions in hysteria.
It is further claimed that thereafter some of the pupils complained of headaches while some were hallucinating.
A parent who spoke to the publication but refused to be named so as to protect their children from victimisation at the school, said:

My child is doing Grade 5. She told me while she was in the toilet with her friend, they heard a voice forcing them to run outside and report to their class teacher.
Today she refused to go to school claiming that she fears being attacked by the mysterious beings.

Five parents told B-Metro that their children were slapped by an invisible hand causing them to suffer hallucinations.
Another parent claimed that their child saw a snake in the toilet before it vanished inexplicably. Said the parent:
<blockquote>
My child told me that he saw a snake while he was in the loo and when he looked at it for the second time it disappeared.
</blockquote>
The School Development Committee chairperson Banele Jumo said he saw messages posted by parents on a WhatsApp group but was yet to get to the school to find out if the claims were true or false.

Learners Flee "Invisible Hand, Strange Snake" At Kumalo Primary School

A man from Zvishavane, Midlands Province, was granted a protection order by a magistrate against his former wife and children who are accusing him of using “mubobobo”.
Mubobobo is a form of witchcraft which allegedly allows the user to engage in sexual intercourse with his victims without their knowledge. They experience physical signs of intimacy but without indulging in the act.
Chrispen Marangwanda appeared before Zvishavane Magistrates Court on Friday where he was seeking a protection order against his former wife Ngonidzashe, his daughter Vongai and his son Brian Mavunike Marangwanda.
He was accusing them of using violence against him.
Marangwanda told Resident Magistrate Archie Wochiunga that Ngonidzashe, Vongai and Brian accused him of possessing traditional charm, “mubobobo” and a goblin.
He said the trio alleged that the goblin caused the death of Brian’s daughter. He said:

Your Worship, the respondents are my children tormenting, insulting and accusing me of being a wizard, yet I have never associated with such. This is why I have approached this court seeking relief.
</blockquote>
Vongai dismissed the allegations as a lie, saying one Madzibaba Moses (a self-proclaimed prophet) told them to cleanse their home but their father was refusing to go through the process.
Brian said he was not aware of why he was in court because he was not aware of the issues.
Ngonidzashe concurred with her daughter, saying her former husband was avoiding the issue of cleansing the home.
Magistrate Wochiunga granted the protection order in favour of Marangwanda.
He ordered the respondents to stop harassing, insulting and forcing the applicant to do what Madzibaba Moses instructs them to do.

Man Drags Children To Court Over "Mubobobo" Accusation

Scores of children enrolled at Gwake Primary School in Gwanda North are refusing to go to school for fear of an alleged goblin that bites them and sucks their blood.
The school is almost 30km from Gwanda town and it has an enrolment of just over 200 pupils.
Gwake School Development Committee (SDC) Chairman, Biafa Mathe, said the bizarre occurrences started three weeks ago.
He said some parents and guardians have since withdrawn their children from the school.
Two Nations reported sources as saying that on Thursday, pastors and traditional healers converged at the school for a cleansing ceremony.
The alleged goblin reportedly attacks girls and the victims become weak. According to villagers, this is an indication that blood was sucked out of their system.
Headman Mhlanga, born Bigboy Mhlanga, of Ward 6 in Gwake told Two Nations that the children said that they see a fiery old woman with sharp teeth dripping with blood.
The children reportedly said that when they see the “woman” they become weak and fall to the ground.
They also said the goblin sometimes carries a knife and first appears on the blackboard. Said Mhlanga:

I believe this goblin sucks blood from children as they become very weak after being attacked.
Girls are the main targets and they say this happens when they see this fiery granny with sharp teeth and she at times carries a knife.

Ntombizodwa Ndlovu said she received a call from school authorities informing her that her grandchild had collapsed at the school.
She said when she arrived at the school, her grandchild was covered with a blanket and was drooling and had turned pale.
Ndlovu said the girl only regained consciousness after about two hours after they had taken her to a traditional healer.
However, Matabeleland South Provincial Education Director (PED) Beatrice Manjere said she is not aware of the matter.

Alleged Goblin Persecutes Schoolchildren

A Rusape woman recently woke up to find a live tortoise wrapped with a multi-coloured cloth (retso) and rabbit skin in her garden.
Tambudzai Makombe of Sanzaguru has witnessed mysterious happenings in her yard in recent weeks, phenomena that have left both traditional leaders and spiritualists baffled.
Barely a week after a mysterious fire exploded in her garden and some paraphernalia associated with witchcraft found in her yard, on Monday Makombe was visited by the strange tortoise.
The reptile, wrapped with a multi-coloured cloth and rabbit skin was seen roaming in the garden by Makombe’s grandchild who was sweeping the yard.
The tortoise was later removed by a cleric, Apostle Petros Kembo.
Headman Sanzaguru, Stephen Kamangira, confirmed the incident to Manica Post, saying he was gobsmacked with what is haunting Makombe. He said:

A live tortoise wrapped with a retso and rabbit skin was found on Monday morning at Ms Makombe’s house. Ms Makombe’s grandchild who was sweeping the yard saw it.
Everyone was shocked by the discovery and Apostle Kembo who removed the paraphernalia which was found at Ms Makombe’s gate was summoned again and removed the tortoise.
I am not sure whether he killed it or not, but what I know is that he took it away. We have advised Ms Makombe to seek help from both spiritualists and traditionalists.
</blockquote>
When contacted for comment, Makumbe could only say: “I do not have anything to say. Please, let me rest.”
Apostle Kembo said he could not comment without Makombe’s consent.

Clothed Tortoise 'Visits' Rusape Woman

Four female teachers left Gohole II Primary School in Kezi,   this term after complaining that they were being sexually abused by suspected goblins resulting in them waking up with semen on their bodies and wearing male underwear.
School Development Committee chairman Mr Eleck Sibanda said the four female teachers wrote letters explaining their experiences. Said Sibanda:
<blockquote>We are very concerned about the well-being of this school. Four female teachers have left this term after complaining that goblins were abusing them. We have developed the school so much and it would be sad if it is closed because of this matter. A solution must be found soon before all the teachers leave.</blockquote>
A villager, Mrs Theodora Ncube, who spoke to Sunday News said that she has been sexually abused by goblins as well. Said Mrs Ncube: 
<blockquote>I’m not ashamed to tell everyone here what the goblins are doing to me. My husband died, but I wake up having signs that I was with a man at night. I sleep alone in my room but in the morning I will be with a man beside me. I can’t even have another husband because the goblin chases them away. I have even gone to spiritual healers and they have confirmed that I’m being made to sleep with a goblin.</blockquote>
Villagers appealed to Chief Nyangazonke to organise a cleansing ceremony. Matabeleland South Acting Provincial Education Director Mr Lifias Masukume said he has not yet received the report on the situation at the school.
