A South African medical doctor, Willi Leo Sieling, told Harare magistrates court that Mary Mubaiwa, the former wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, had confided in him that President Emmerson Mnangagwa had attempted to assassinate his own deputy back in 2018.
According to Sieling’s testimony, Mubaiwa persistently pressured him to administer a dangerous drug called pethidine to sedate Chiwenga. However, Sieling refused due to the drug’s highly addictive and narcotic properties. Mubaiwa allegedly went further, asserting that the President himself wanted to eliminate Chiwenga, starting with a grenade attack. Sieling told the court:

On June 29, 2019, l was accosted by the suspect (Mubaiwa) who was unhappy that l had allowed a surgeon to place an intercostal drain without her consent.
She scolded me and shouted at me.
Nurses reported to me that the suspect was interfering with and hindering the administration of drugs to the complainant.
The suspect insisted that l had to start giving the complainant pethidine.
However, it is a highly addictive narcotic analgesic, which l refused to do.
There were continuous calls, messages and persistent demands by the suspect for the discharge of the complainant.
The suspect started from the beginning and consistently told me that his Excellency the President of Zimbabwe wanted to kill the complainant (Chiwenga) starting with the grenade attack.

Chiwenga survived an explosion at a political rally in 2018, where numerous individuals were injured, and three security aides tragically lost their lives. Mnangagwa, who was leaving the podium after addressing Zanu PF supporters when the explosion happened, escaped unhurt.
Dr Sieling said he received a call from John Mangwiro, the Health deputy minister, in December 2018 asking him to attend to Chiwenga at the Fire Ice Hotel in Pretoria. Sieling stated that he had extensive discussions with Chiwenga in the presence of the suspect, Mary Mubaiwa. He said just before their departure, Mubaiwa gave him $1,900, although he was uncertain of its purpose and considered it a gift for his assistance.
On June 23, 2019, Mangwiro called Sieling again, informing him that Chiwenga was critically ill and required admission to the High Care unit at NetCare Pretoria Hospital. Sieling made the necessary arrangements but waited until 9:40 PM without Chiwenga being brought to the hospital, prompting him to investigate at the Sheraton Hotel where he had been booked. At the hotel, Mubaiwa introduced Sieling to Dr. Bruce Peck.
Sieling said he told them that Chiwenga would die if not admitted to the hospital. Seven days before Chiwenga’s discharge, Sieling visited his room and noticed excessive sedation since the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) discharge. Sieling requested a urine specimen, which appeared normal. However, a member of Chiwenga’s security team informed Sieling that the retired general was being administered Pethidine.
Sieling arranged for a cystoscopy to extract a specimen, confirming the presence of Pethidine. However, he was unable to identify the person responsible for administering it. Sieling mentioned that Mnangagwa requested a report on the situation, and Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Misheck Sibanda visited South Africa to check on Chiwenga’s health.
Sieling suspected that a member of Chiwenga’s security team might have administered dangerous drugs. Sieling expressed concern for Chiwenga’s need for additional therapy. Prosecutors allege that Mubaiwa intended to remove life support devices while Chiwenga was critically ill in a Pretoria hospital. Chiwenga later received successful treatment in China.
The case has been adjourned until August 28.

Doctor Testified Marry Revealed Mnangagwa's Alleged 2018 Assassination Attempt On VP Chiwenga

The High Court has struck off the roll a property dispute case involving Vice President Constantino Chiwenga (the applicant) and his estranged wife Marry Mubaiwa (the defendant).
High Court judge Justice Owen Tagu removed the case from the roll after noting that the matter was not moving due to several postponements and the non-availability of the defendant and the applicant.  
Justice Tagu also said he could not keep holding the record when the case was not progressing, <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200003732/vp-ex-wife-case-struck-off-roll">NewsDay</a> reported. He said:

I could not, therefore, keep on holding onto the file…
The only way to go about this problem is to remove the matter from the roll and parties be given guidelines.

He also ordered that the registrar be directed to set the matter down for hearing on any available date after new pleadings have been made.
This basically means that the case was removed from the court roll and that the judge will not consider it or hear the argument on the initially set date. The applicant will have to place it on the roll on another date. 
Previously, Mubaiwa’s lawyer, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Beatrice_Mtetwa">Beatrice Mutetwa</a> asked for permission to file heads of argument to include the interests of the couple’s children. This was objected to by Chiwenga’s lawyer Lewis Uriri said that the rights of children were catered for by their guardians, according to the country’s constitution.  
Since 2019, Chiwenga, a former military commander and Marry, a former model, have been embroiled in a nasty divorce. 
The courts eventually granted the divorce but the courts are yet to determine how the duo will share property.

<li>One fully-paid local holiday per annum and not less than US$25 000 per person</li>
<li>An equivalent of US$40 000 a month for her own personal maintenance per month</li>

High Court Removes Marry And VP Chiwenga's Case From Roll

A Harare magistrate has dismissed Vice-President <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Constantino_Chiwenga">Constantino Chiwenga</a>’s estranged wife, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Marry_Chiwenga">Marry Mubaiwa</a>’s application for refusal of further remand in a case where she faces money-laundering charges.
Mubaiwa had cited the court’s delays in coming up with a trial date, <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200002733/mubaiwa-files-for-refusal-of-remand">NewsDay</a> reported.
Magistrate Taurai Manuwere, however, said the delay in providing the trial date was not deliberate, but caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mubaiwa was being represented by her lawyer Ryan Sitotombe from Mtetwa and Nyambirai Legal Practitioners.
Prosecutor Lance Mutsokoti had asked the court for a postponement of the matter saying the password for a disc that contained information pertaining to the case was being analysed.
He added that Mubaiwa’s matter was complicated and required extra-territorial investigations, hence should not be rushed.
But Sitotombe opposed the application saying Mubaiwa was not feeling well and should be removed from remand. Sitotombe said:
<blockquote>
The accused person has a right to a fair trial which includes the right to be tried within a reasonable time in an independent court. The charges are from 2019 and the investigating officer said investigations will complete sometime in 2020 but now three years after, there is still no trial date.
We don’t know how long they will take analysing the contents. In terms of the Constitution, it is also required to respect the right and freedom of the accused person.

Sitotombe also said the State can still summon the former model when is ready for trial, especially considering her health status.

Magistrate Dismisses Marry Mubaiwa's Application To Be Removed From Remand

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Marry_Mubaiwa">Marry Mubaiwa</a>, the estranged wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, on Monday told a Harare court she was still unable to stand trial in a case where she is accused of money laundering.
Mubaiwa appeared before Harare Magistrate Taurai Manuwere for the first time following the amputation of her right arm.
The former model said it was unfair to be kept on remand, considering her condition, and the fact the State repeatedly gives excuses to justify the delay of her prosecution.
Through her lawyer, Ryan Sitototombe from Mtetwa and Nyambirai Legal Practitioners, Mubaiwa complained that the State had been repeating the same story since 2020. Sitotombe argued:
<blockquote>
The state was already on notice and l don’t know how many times the accused should appear in court for her to qualify to be removed from remand. This is a brazen violation of the accused person’s right.
The accused person has a right to a fair trial, which includes the right to be tried within a reasonable time in an independent court. The charges are from 2019 and the investigating officer said the investigations will be complete sometime in 2020, but now three years after there is still no trial date. 
</blockquote>
Sitotombe said the State is obliged by the Constitution to respect the right and freedom of the accused person. 
The lawyer suggested that the State must only summon Mubaiwa when it is ready for trial.
Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti asked for a postponement telling the court that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) was yet to go through the evidence in the form of a disk from a South African bank.
He said they were still waiting for a password to open the flash disk, <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/vp-chiwenga-ex-wife-marry-makes-first-court-appearance-after-amputation-challenges-further-remand/">NewZimbabwe</a> quoted him as saying.
The magistrate is expected to hand down his ruling on the request by Mubaiwa on October 28.
The VP’s ex-wife is also charged with attempted murder and assault.
Prosecutors allege she tried to kill the former army general when he was critically ill and hospitalised in South Africa.
In another matter, it is alleged that Mubaiwa assaulted her former childminder, Delight Munyoro in 2020.
Both cases are still to be finalised.

Marry Mubaiwa Says She Is Still Unable To Stand Trial

The estranged wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Marry Mubaiwa-Chiwenga, ordered a jeweller to make US$15 000 worth of wedding rings during her preparation for the wedding she allegedly lied that the Vice President had consented to.
This came out in court on Tuesday where Marry was being tried in a case where she is alleged to have misrepresented that the VP had consented to a wedding with her at a time he was hospitalised in India sometime in June 2019.
Colonel Gesham Muradzi, who was employed as an administrator in the Vice President’s Office during that time, Tuesday told the court that Marry called and asked him to pay US$15 000 to a jeweller located at Newlands Shopping Centre in Harare for the rings. Testifying, Muradzi said:

In 2019 they were in India when Honourable General CGD Chiwenga was not feeling well. She called me asking how much money I had in the office.
I told her that I had US$23 000, which was left in my custody by Vice President Chiwenga. The money was for looking at affairs at his farm and his children during the time he would be away. 
She then asked me to take $15 000 and give brother Mike. She indicated that brother Mike from Alpha Jewellery will call me. I later phoned him to collect the money from the office.
</blockquote>
Col Muradzi said he had not spoken to VP Chiwenga as he was hospitalised.
A jeweller, who also testified in the matter, told the court that he was given an order to make wedding rings at his company sometime in June 2019.
Victoria Falls magistrate Miss Linda Dzvene, who was the then personal assistant to former Chief Magistrate Justice Munamato Mutevedzi, also testified and confirmed that she was the one who completed the marriage licence book upon instructions from her boss.
The matter is expected to continue today with four more State witnesses testifying. Magistrate Mr Lazini Ncube heard the testimonies while Mr Tafara Chirambira and Mrs Netsai Mushayabasa appeared for the State.
Ms Beatrice Mtetwa represented Mubaiwa.

Marry Chiwenga Bought Rings Worth US$15 000 For Wedding

Women rights defenders are convening a virtual indaba on Tuesday 30 November 2021, over the alleged harassment and abuse of Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga’s estranged wife, Marry Mubaiwa Chiwenga.
Marry, who is facing several criminal charges alleges that the former military boss blocking her from receiving treatment outside Zimbabwe for a life-threatening ailment.
A visibly sick Marry has been a subject of pity from across the political divide. She says President Emmerson Mnangagwa and first lady Auxillia have let her down by not intervening in the fight with her estranged husband.
She lost custody of her three minor children after Chiwenga, who doubles as Health and Child Care minister, appealed against an earlier judgement in her favour.
Human rights defenders have since organised the virtual discussion under the Women’s Academy for Leadership (WALPE) banner to debate the Marry “abuse” issue.
The discussion will feature known human rights defenders, including Margaret Mutsamvi (gender rights advocate, Sitabile Dewa (human rights defender), Samkeliso Tshuma (women’s rights expert), Maxine Chisweto (a lawyer) and prominent author Tsitsi Dangarembga.
It will be hosted under the theme: Women’s human rights are a yardstick of national progress: A case of Marry Chiwenga.
The rights defenders have also started a #JusticeforMarry campaign to fight against the decision that denies her access to medical attention outside the country while her health continues to deteriorate.
Marry, who suffers from lymphoedema, has had her applications for release of her passport to seek medical attention outside the country dismissed by the courts.
The former model says charges against her were manufactured by Chiwenga to punish her.

Women Rights Defenders To Convene Indaba Over Abuse On Marry Chiwenga

Marry Mubaiwa Chiwenga has said she is being intimidated continuously by soldiers who come to her workplace harassing her workers. In an interview with The NewsHawks Marry Chiwenga details how the soldiers visited her premises and drove her workers away and took some of her belongings. Responding to the question of why military personnel were doing this Marry said:
<blockquote>I have lived most of my life with him, being around soldiers, I don’t fear soldiers, also because there was like a family unit with the soldiers around us.
But when it comes to intimidation, now intimidation is a lot of things, it’s broad. If the people in my office are intimidated by soldiers, that’s intimidation on my part because they will go to scare the people in my office.
The people in my office will run away because they’re afraid of the soldiers. They are threatened. 
When they went and ransacked my office in Domboshava, everybody ran away.  I had more than 20 people working there, they all ran away.
And before running away they were ordered by armed soldiers to load all my belongings into a lorry, and this was during the time I was in prison.
They cleared my office, took all my files, took all my client files, we had six filing cabinets and they were all taken.
Client information is confidential, between the client and the consultant.</blockquote>
<blockquote>They took bank statements, contracts, invoices of things, they took personal documents, my registrations of different things; company registrations, vehicle registration, title deeds, everything. The office was for events, and I had even had a party for my children there.
And they recently broke down my Highlands office wall, and it was done at night. Our wall was very strong, it could not have just have fallen on its own. Now our office is open and vulnerable.</blockquote>
Marry also said her husband who is trying to divorce her is threatening doctors who are treating her not to treat her:
<blockquote> My health is in trouble for two reasons. My health is in trouble because, first reason, local doctors have been threatened by my husband not to look after me medically and they’re afraid to speak out. 
This is including physiotherapists, because I need physio, but they’ve also been threatened and they said they are scared to meet me because the VP threatens them and this is what they say.
I don’t have a physiotherapist, I don’t have a physician. The physicians that were looking after me before were army physicians.
They are afraid of the VP, they were told at work not to look after me. So they don’t help me and for me to go and get international medical attention they have refused with my passport.</blockquote>
Marry said she has written to Zimbabwe Defense Forces Commander Valerio Sibanda but he has not responded to her. She says she is still barred from accessing her money and her case to go to <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/12/29/marry-chiwenga-application-to-seek-medical-treatment-in-sa-dismissed/">South Africa for medical attention was dismissed</a> by the High Court.

I'm Being Intimidated Continuously By Soldiers - Marry Mubaiwa Chiwenga Details

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s estranged wife Marry Mubaiwa Chiwenga has said she is being abused by her ex-husband. Marry was using the microblogging site Twitter when she said the Vice President is using state machinery and the judiciary to fight her.
Marry bore her soul on social media and even said the Vice President is living with concubines at the Chinese Kingsmead place in Harare while he has separated her from her children:
<blockquote>Eish, gone with the wind…the honorable step was taken VP, my husband, the one i am married too forcibly took my children from me… the hurtful part is the that he is not living with my children, he is here shaking up with concubines at Chinese Kingsmead place in Borrowdale.</blockquote>
Marry went on to say she is imprisoned by the VP and her property is being destroyed:
<blockquote>I want to tell my story of the abuse i am suffering @ the hands of my husband who is using State Machinery and the Judiciary to fight to fight me.i have been quiet for too long,i will tell my story to whoever cares to listen. A victim of imprisonment
My office wall in Highlands was brokendown yesterday, no amount of intimidation will stop me from fighting for my children and properties. my equipment in Domboshava is being looted by armed military personell.</blockquote>
Last year the <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/12/29/marry-chiwenga-application-to-seek-medical-treatment-in-sa-dismissed/">High Court denied Marry permission to go to South Africa</a> to seek medical attention despite photos of her wounded hands going viral on social media.
Chiwenga and Marry are going through a nasty divorce, the vice president claimed that Marry wanted to kill him and even reported her to the police and she had to spend the 2019 Christmas and 2020 New Year holidays in pretrial detention before she was released on bail in January 2020.
