The opposition CCC says it will not be forced to reveal its electoral strategies and structures by critics but will do so at the appropriate time.
Speaking during an interview on Alpha Media Holdings Heart and Soul TV (HStv)’s “FreeTalk” with Blessed Mhlanga, CCC interim spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said:

Obviously, it’s a fallacy that CCC is a one-man band. On the contrary, what our six months lifespan has shown us is that it is a broad-based citizens’ movement that has defied all the odds.
No party that is not organised can win elections the way we have been winning, and winning so decisively.
We will launch our party and all its leadership will be made public. What Chamisa has said time and again is that this party is yet to launch.
Our politics is not business as usual. We saw how ZANU PF created its formation, and how the MDC set itself up and that didn’t work.
It is time to start doing things differently and to depart from the old ways. I think the fallacy that exists in the discourse at the moment is that the only way to structure a political party is how ZANU PF is structured.

CCC was unveiled in February this year after MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora claimed the MDC name and all its derivatives ahead of the March 26 by-elections.
The party has been heavily criticised on social media by ZANU PF supporters, self-exiled former ZANU PF Politburo member Jonathan Moyo and journalist Edmund Kudzayi, among others, for lack of structures and a party constitution.

Self-exiled former information minister, Jonathan Moyo, says CCC activists who claim journalist Edmund Kudzayi is a homosexual should question their party president’s sexuality too.
Moyo claimed Kudzayi and CCC leader Nelson Chamisa were very close and often conduct prayer night vigils together in the hills of Domboshava.
Kudzayi has been labelled gay by CCC supporters after he questioned the party’s lack of formal structures.
Moyo claimed “Chamisa and Kudzayi are tight brothers in Christ” and spend nights together in Domboshava. Moyo tweeted:

While Chamisa’s supporters have singled me out for their vile slurs, with Edmund Kudzayi and my relatives as collateral damage, others like Stephen Chan, Chofamba Sithole and in the NewsDay, Zimbabwe Independent and The Standard have also made the structures critique!
What is telling and reveals hatred is that, while many others have made the argument for the indispensability of structures in the CCC, Chamisa’s base has targeted only me, Kudzayi and my relatives for its most vile slurs. The reason for this targeting is Nelson!
Interestingly, Chamisa and Kudzayi are tight brothers in Christ. They used to hold prayers–just the two of them–at Nelson’s Advocates Chambers office.
Vakomana vema all-night prayers kuzvikomo muDomboshava (these are boys who would go for all-night prayers in the mountains of Domboshava). Given this, are Nelson and Edmund gay partners?
Given the very close relationship he has with Kudzayi, it must be said strongly that Chamisa’s silence over the vile gay slurs from his supporters is proof of his profound moral and leadership bankruptcy.

If Edmund Kudzayi Is Gay, So Is Nelson Chamisa - Jonathan Moyo

Edmund Kudzayi has refused to retract an article published by Kukuriho which claims that Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere had an affair with a married man. 
The article, seen by Pindula News, also claimed that the affair she allegedly had with an “economist and micro-financier Tinashe Murapata, a prolific commentator on economic policy,” resulted in the latter’s marriage collapsing. 
Mahere, through her lawyers, confronted Kudzayi, demanding a retraction of the story. She vowed that even if the case takes a decade, she will pursue it until she clears her name and protects her reputation. Said Mahere’s lawyers:

To that end, we are instructed to demand, as we hereby do, that you publish a retraction of the story and clarify on both your Twitter page and through the Kukurigo platform that there is no evidence that our client had an affair with the named individual, nor is there any evidence that she was in any way involved in the breakdown of his marriage, which marriage was — according to your reports — terminated more than eighteen months ago. The same should be published within twenty-four (24) hours of receipt of this letter, failing which we have instructions to institute legal action against you.

 In response, Kudzayi said:

There will be no retraction. The story is factual, and much more is coming. Your worn and tired abuse of litigation, to gag the truth to cover your sexual improprieties – which have destroyed marriages – has gone too far and must stop; the power of truth-telling will stop it!

"There Will Be No Retraction" - Edmund Kudzayi Maintains Mahere Affair Story Is Factual

Opposition <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Citizens%27_Coalition_for_Change">Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC)</a> spokesperson, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Fadzayi_Mahere">Fadzayi Mahere</a> has confronted <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Edmund_Kudzayi">Edmund Kudzayi</a> over an article that suggested that the law expert had an affair with a married man. An article posted by Kukurigo claimed that Mahere had an affair with an “economist and micro-financier Tinashe Murapata, a prolific commentator on economic policy.” In a letter seen by Pindula News, Mahere wants Kudzayi, who was at some point labelled Baba Jukwa, to publish a retraction of the story or be sued. Reads the letter sent through Mahere’s lawyers:
<h2>RE: PUBLICATION OF FALSE AND DEFAMATORY STATEMENTS — FADZAYI MAHERE</h2>
<blockquote>
We act for Advocate Fadzayi Mahere in this matter. Kindly direct all future correspondence to our offices.
We are instructed that on 4 July 2022, following a series of tweets in which you threatened to publish “Mahere story and pictures with a married man”, you indicated the following in reference to our client:
“There is nothing honourable about having sex with married men and wrecking marriages…”.
Thereafter, on 5 July 2022, a story was published through the Kukurigo platform which is distributed through whatsapp groups to more than 46 000 members, in which it was alleged that:
“allegations of infidelity involving… Fadzayi Mahere ended in the collapse of the businessman’s marriage…”
The story, which includes numerous insinuations relating to our client, went on to state that:
“The two are said to have travelled together to [a] funeral… in Masvingo and slept there under unclear circumstances…”
Concerningly, the story attempts to link the wholly unsubstantiated allegations with our Client’s professional role as spokesperson for the Citizen’s Coalition for Change, setting out that:
“Senior leadership in the CCC is reportedly aware of the relationship” and indicating that “the CCCs lack of formal structures, a constitution or code of conduct guiding the acceptable standards of ethical and moral conduct. There are effectively no means by which the party could discipline Mahere”.
The story has since been published on multiple social media pages and media sites, including H-Metro, Gambakwe Media, Zim News Online and Zimetro. You are listed as the editor of Kukurigo and are an administrator on the WhatsApp groups and are therefore responsible for the publications sent out through that platform.
There is a clear implication in the published story as well as your tweets leading up to such publication, to the effect that our client was involved in an affair with a married man which resulted in the breakdown of his marriage. Such untruths have the effect of harming our client’s character as well as her professional and personal reputation. For the avoidance of doubt, it is categorically denied that our Client has had an affair with any married man, or that she is responsible for the breakdown of any marriage.
It is noted that there are admissions in the article that the same was published without input from our client, the named businessman or his wife. It is therefore clear that any ‘source’ for the story would be relying upon hearsay and not fact. The allegations set out therein are untrue, unsubstantiated and the basic tenets of fair and unbiased journalism have been disregarded.
To that end, we are instructed to demand, as we hereby do, that you publish a retraction of the story and clarify on both your Twitter page and through the Kukurigo platform that there is no evidence that our client had an affair with the named individual, nor is there any evidence that she was in any way involved in the breakdown of his marriage, which marriage was — according to your reports — terminated more than eighteen months ago. The same should be published within twenty-four (24) hours of receipt of this letter, failing which we have instructions to institute legal action against you.

Mahere Confronts Edmund Kudzayi Over Article Claiming She Had An Affair With Married Man

Exiled former Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo has claimed that the late former President Robert Mugabe “demonised” him for “hiring MDC journalists.”
Moyo, a Political Science Professor, says the journalists he had hired, Wendy Nyakurerwa, Edmund Kudzayi, Mduduzi Mathuthu and Joram Nyathi, are among the top independent and most talented journalists.
He suggests that the ruling ZANU PF viewed the journalists as belonging to the opposition MDC because of the objective manner in which they were executing their duties and responsibilities. He tweeted:

Ironically, Moyo is accused of having authored and introduced repressive laws that limited journalists’ freedoms including access to information.
After the 2000 Parliamentary election, Moyo was appointed the Minister of Information in the President’s office and the Zanu-PF government spokesperson.
During his time as Information Minister, Moyo introduced restrictive media laws including the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (AIPPA) which was passed into law in 2002.
His tenure at the helm of the Ministry was also characterized by the closure of some newspapers notably the Associated Newspapers Dailynews and its sister paper the Daily News on Sunday.
This was disapproved by the media fraternity, activists and civil society.
When he was reappointed Minister of Information in 2013 the media fraternity was filled with anxiety fearing the return of the patchy 2000 era when he was at the helm of the ministry.

Zimbabwe’s problem is the involvement of the military in politics by propping the ruling ZANU PF party, former Sunday Mail editor Edmund Kudzayi has said.
According to Kudzayi, ZANU PF could not do what it does without the military’s backing, therefore, removing President Emmerson Mnangagwa from office and replacing him with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Foreign Affairs minister Sibusiso Moyo, or anyone else will change nothing unless the military is barred from dabbling in politics. He wrote on Twitter:

Former Sunday Mail Editor, Edmund Kudzayi has said that some issues affecting the general populace go unnoticed because the local media is incapacitated to cover them all even when they are important.
He speaks after touring Zvishavane in the Midlands Province which he said has some residents who live in abject poverty but that has not been reported elsewhere. Kudzayi posted on Twitter saying:
<blockquote>I’ve just come from Zvishavane — the poverty has to be seen to be believed. One area I visited has no water, no electricity, no jobs and no hope of escape. It’s a pity local journalism has been equally crippled by the economy. The human cost of this crisis remains untold.</blockquote>

"It’s A Pity Local Journalism Has Been Equally Crippled By The Economy," Former Sunday Mail Editor

Journalist <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Edmund_Kudzayi" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Edmund Kudzayi</a> said that he made a significant error in the V11 sequence in his documentary, Excelgate, published on YouTube on Wednesday, and has pulled it down as a result. Writing on Twitter on Thursday, Kudzayi said:
<blockquote>I’ve withdrawn the #Excelgate documentary from YouTube due to a significant error in the V11 sequence.
I’ll be publishing another documentary on the election in a few weeks and will use the opportunity to correct the error.</blockquote>
The Excelgate documentary is based on Professor <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jonathan_Moyo" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Jonathan Moyo’s</a> book, “Excelgate – Zimbabwe Stolen 2018 Presidential Election”.
It claims to prove how the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Electoral_Commission" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC)</a> rigged the election to favour the ZANU PF candidate, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa who was subsequently declared the winner.

Edmund Kudzayi Withdraws Excelgate Documentary Due To "Significant Error"

Former Sunday Mail editor, Edmund Kudzayi, says a Harare pastor who is also a member of the Presidential Advisory Council (PAC), Shingi Munyeza warned striking doctors against speaking about Dr Peter Gabriel Magombeyi’s abduction.
Kudzayi further alleges that Munyeza told the doctors that if they attempt to protest again, the authorities will break up the protest violently.
Writing on microblogging site Twitter on Monday, <a href="https://twitter.com/EdmundKudzayi/status/1176044945054031872" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Kudzayi said</a>:
<blockquote>Verified reports that PAC member Shingi Munyeza told doctors to stop talking about Dr Magombeyi’s abduction if they want salary negotiations are worrying.
Equally worrying was his warning that if they attempt to protest again, the authorities will break up the protest violently.</blockquote>

Pastor Shingi Munyeza Accused Of Threatening Striking Doctors

A former Sunday Mail editor, who is now a freelance journalist, Edmund Kudzayi, who was Thursday acquitted of unlawful possession of army uniform, has refused to take his arrest lying down.
Kudzayi was arrested at a police roadblock in February this year after being found in possession of an umbrella whose colours resembled army camouflage.
A Harare magistrate ruled that an umbrella was not among items classified by the law to be constituting army uniform.
Writing on Twitter after his acquittal, Kudzayi said:

Edmund Kudzayi Vows To Sue Army, Police For 'Errant' Arrest

Freelance journalist Edmund Kudzayi on Tuesday appeared in court facing charges of possessing a camouflage umbrella.
Kudzayi, who is the editor for Kukurigo News, pleaded not guilty to a charge of unlawful possession or wearing of camouflage uniforms, as defined under section 32 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act when he appeared before Harare magistrate Victoria Mashamba.
Kudzayi who is represented by Obey Shava of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, was arrested on February 22 at a police check-point along Domboshava Road in Harare after he was allegedly found in possession of a camouflage umbrella with a pouch in his vehicle. When trial commenced Tuesday, Shava filed an application for exception to the charges, whereby Kudzayi denied committing the offence as alleged by the prosecution. Kudzayi returns to court on Wednesday 27 March for the continuation of his trial.

Kukurigo Journalist Edmund Kudzayi In Court Over Camouflage Umbrella

Journalist and media entrepreneur, Edmund Kudzayi, said today that Zimbabwe Republic Police came looking for him at his home in Harare to arrest him.
He said the allegations stated – “beating someone up in a bar” – are false.
Said Kudzayi:
<blockquote>Three police officers from Rhodesvile police station have visited my parents’ home searching for me on allegations that I beat up someone in a bar. This is obviously not true. Lawyers working to establish specific details as to what the police want from me on a Saturday morning.</blockquote>
Last month, Kudzayi was arrested on allegations of being in possession of a camouflage umbrella.
In 2014 Kudzayi was arrested and imprisoned briefly after being suspected of being Baba Jukwa, the internet pseudonym used then by someone who leaked sensitive Zanu-PF information between 2011 and 2013.

Kudzayi argues that this compromises Chigumba’s impartiality due to a potential conflict of interest. He says as a result Chigumba must resign. He also says he is ready to defend the allegations in a court of law. Below is a series of Kudzayi’s tweets:

We have seen a contrived and desperate ballot paper illegally designed to favour Mnangagwa. We have seen Zanu PF using VR phone numbers to illegally text voters. We have seen Chigumba illegally wearing a Zanu PF scarf. ZEC is obstinate &amp; accountable to Zanu PF, not the voter.
The ZEC chairperson is the last line of defence against electoral malpractice. As such, the person must be an upstanding member of society with probity that’s beyond reproach. Can a woman who has an affair with a married cabinet minister be such a person? The answer is no.
Zimbabwe needs men and women of integrity to lead our constitutional bodies. Chigumba is not a woman of integrity or moral conviction. She has proven to be a Zanu PF puppet who was placed in the ZEC chair because, like Mudede and Makarau, she’s ready and willing to play ball.
Chigumba is a judge of the High Court and she knows the implications of perjuring herself. If she denies and I prove, she is finished. Chigumba knows that her sexual relationship with Chitando is a fact. Her silence in the face of a screaming scandal is a testament to this.
So, ZEC chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba has a sexual relationship with Zanu PF cabinet minister Winston Chitando. This presents a clear conflict of interest: if Zanu PF loses the election her lover will lose his job. She must do the right thing and resign. Ndatenda.</blockquote>
