George Boateng has officially left his post as Aston Villa U23 Coach after 3 years in charge saying he wants to focus on coaching Ghana at the 2022 World Cup.
 He helped the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka and Cameron Archer transition into Aston Villa’s senior team. He states that he wants to fully focus on the Black Stars at the World Cup. He said:

Leaving Aston Villa after 3 wonderful seasons was not an easy decision but having the opportunity to coach my country at the World Cup was too good to turn down. I have learned so much and I’m grateful for the time spent at this beautiful, amazing club. George Boateng is a former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. 
 Born in Ghana, raised in Holland and he represented the Netherlands internationally, making four appearances for the Netherlands national team.
During his tenure as a player, he played for teams such as Feyenoord, Coventry City, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Hull City, Skoda Xanthi and
Nottingham Forest.

Aston Villa Coach George Boateng Resigns To Coach Ghana

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has brushed aside criticism of travel arrangements that saw Ghana arriving in Zimbabwe while their hosts were holed up in Ethiopia ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier played at the National Sports Stadium in Harare on Tuesday.
The Warriors arrived in Harare from their loss to Ghana in Cape Coast 14 hours after the Black Stars had touched down in Harare.
In fact, the Ghana squad slept in Harare on Sunday night, while the Warriors spent the night in Ethiopia.
The national association said the Black Stars flew directly from Ghana to Harare on a government-funded chartered flight while the Warriors used a commercial flight. ZIFA said in a statement:

ZIFA has received numerous inquiries from stakeholders on why Ghana arrived in Zimbabwe earlier than our own Warriors after the first leg. Their fear was that ZIFA had probably not prepared adequately for the two matches.
While Ghana flew directly from Ghana to Harare on a government-funded chartered flight, our Warriors used a commercial flight secured using the association’s resources.
The flight route used by the Warriors to travel from Accra to Harare was the fastest on the earliest possible flight.
For the first-leg in Ghana, players travelled directly to the match venue to reduce travel distances, which would have affected their preparedness for the match.

ZIFA Explains Warriors' Travel Arrangements From Ghana

Ghana head coach Milovan Rajevac has conceded that Zimbabwe caused his team some problems during the second half of the FIFA World Cup qualifier played at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Black Stars of Ghana beat the Warriors 3-1 and cemented second position in Group G, having accumulated 6 points from three games, just a single point behind group leaders South Africa who are on 7 points.
Speaking to reporters after the match, the 67 year old Serbian, who was making his second bow as Coach of the Black Stars, said:

All in all, it was a good game after the result we had. We started the game well but later in the match we had some problems especially in the second half and we conceded a goal but I managed to identify some of the problems and to make the right substitution so we came back and won.
We were lucky at some moments of the match but the most important for us is that we got three points and our hard work has paid off.

'We Were Lucky At Some Moments', Ghana Coach Reflects On Win Over Zimbabwe

Warriors interim coach Norman Mapeza says there were so many positives from the Warriors’ 3-1 defeat to Ghana despite conceding “soft goals” in a 2022 World Cup Qualifier on Saturday.
Goals from Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey and Captain Andre Ayew extinguished Zimbabwe’s hopes of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup Qatar finals.
Warriors captain Knowledge Musona’s second-half penalty was Zimbabwe’s first goal in the qualifiers but proved insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
Meanwhile, Mapeza felt his charges had gifted the Black Stars some soft goals. He said:

I think it was a good game of football. I think we saw so many positives from this game, but I think we conceded soft goals.
First few minutes, there was a lack of concentration, and then the second goal, Darikwa was just supposed to clear the lines, and the third goal, I think it was a throw and we should have closed that man down before he crossed the ball.

We Conceded Soft Goals - Mapeza

The Warriors were beaten 3-1 by the Black Stars of Ghana in a 2022 World Cup qualifier that was played at the Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana on Saturday evening.
The Ghanaians drew first blood in the 5th minute of the first half through Mohammed Kudus before Warriors captain Knowledge Musona equalised from the penalty spot in the 49th minute.
However, the Black Stars restored their lead in the 66th minute through a Tomas Partey strike, before Andrew Ayew confirmed the West Africans’ superiority with the third goal in the 87th minute.
In another Group G match played earlier on Saturday, South Africa extended their lead at the top of the Group with a 3-1 win over Ethiopia in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia.
Bafana now lead the group on seven points at the halfway mark of the first round of the qualifying campaign for Qatar.
Ghana are second on 6 points after beating Ethiopia in their first match and losing 1-0 to South Africa, with Ethiopia on third spot with 3 points following a 1-0 win over Zimbabwe.
The Warriors are bottom of the group, with only 1 point from the 0-0 draw with Bafana Bafana in September.
On Tuesday, South Africa host Ethiopia at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg at 6 PM, while Zimbabwe host Ghana at the National Sports Stadium in Harare at 3 PM.

Warriors Starting Lineup Against Ghana Named

France-based Warriors utility player Marshall Munetsi has challenged his teammates to put give everything when they face Ghana in a 2022 World Cup qualifier at the Cape Coast Stadium this Saturday.
Munetsi, who is likely to be paired with Teenage Hadebe in central defence said if the Warriors are to retain a realistic chance of topping the group, they have to get a win over the Black Stars. He said:

If you are going to qualify for the World Cup, you have to beat the best. The circumstances are very difficult.
But we are the Warriors, there was no point in playing Ghana if we knew that we wouldn’t beat them.
Of course, this is going to be a very difficult match against one of the best teams on the continent but well, we are also prepared to give it our all. The team should just stay focused and try to play our normal game.
… We need to win this game to retain control of our own destiny. We have the chance of regaining lost ground and we have to do it now starting with the game against Ghana.
We know for sure that Ghana are giants and playing them away from home is even harder. But then it is what it is.
We should put our heads on the wall and try to get a positive result at the end of the day.
We have a chance of getting the result if you look at our team. We have a lot of good players in our ranks who can compete at this level.

The two teams have faced each other five times with Ghana emerging victorious in three of those outings while the Warriors have won once with the other game finishing in a draw.

Munetsi Rallies Warriors Ahead Of Crunch Ghana Match

Former Amazulu and Warriors midfielder <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ronald_Sibanda">Ronald “Gidiza” Sibanda</a> believes the Warriors are capable of upsetting Ghana at their own backyard in a 2022 World Cup Qualifier to be played this afternoon.
Sibanda, a former Soccer Star of the Year, challenged Warriors players to justify their inclusion in the national team by giving their best performances. He said:

If going to teams like Ghana or any big teams, it’s difficult but we’re a team that is building with a new coach and these are matches where we have to rise to the occasion.
Now, these players have to prove to the coach why they are in the team and have to make us happy as a nation.
If they fail to perform, then there’s no reason to keep these permanent faces, we’ve to let them go and we look at other players.
That Ghana has lots of players from abroad shouldn’t send shivers to the Warriors. I remember one qualifier against Mali, there were guys like Diara but Johannes Ngodzo seemed like a foreign-based player taking all the limelight. Football has changed and home advantage matters little.
If we can’t win this one, a draw will be a fair result, depending on the team’s performance. I will be content with a point.

With just a point, the Warriors are hard-pressed to revive their hopes of qualifying to the next stage and will be out to avoid a defeat to stay in contention.
Zimbabwe are the only winless team, sitting at the bottom of Group G having played to a 0-0 draw with South Africa before losing 1-0 in Ethiopia.
South Africa top the table with four points, while Ghana and Ethiopia are tied on three points.

'Gidiza' Tips Warriors To Shock Ghana

Marvelous Nakamba and Tendayi Darikwa are now set to miss the Warriors’ home game against the Black Stars, in their 2022 World Cup showdown, at the National Sports Stadium on Tuesday next week.
Zimbabwe and Ghana first clash at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in Ghana on Saturday before they meet again on Tuesday in Harare.
According to new COVID-19 travel rules announced by the British Government, fully vaccinated players can now feature in countries, listed in the red zone, by the UK authorities, during this World Cup qualifying window.
A report by The Birmingham Mail last week said “players returning from red-list zones cannot mix with the general public, but only those within their squad bubble” for a period of 10 days.
Zimbabwe is one of the countries on the UK’s COVID-19 red list while Ghana is in the amber zone.
However, both Nakamba and Darikwa have received only the first COVID-19 vaccine doses which means they will not be able to travel to Harare for the match against Ghana next week.
As it stands, only Jordan Zemura, among the UK-based players, will fly home for the match against Ghana. He is so far the only one who is fully vaccinated.

Nakamba, Darikwa To Miss Warriors' Home Match Against Ghana

United Kingdom-based Warriors called up for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers will only play away in Ghana and will not be available for the return leg in Harare.
Zimbabwe takes on the Black Stars on Saturday, 9 October (6 PM) at the Cape Coast Stadium in Cape Coast and then hosts the West African football powerhouse on Tuesday, 12 October at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
Reports had indicated that the British government resolved that players who are fully vaccinated can travel to countries on the so-called red list which includes Zimbabwe.
However, Warriors general manager Wellington Mpandare still insists that the UK based players will only play away. He said:

They will only play the away game only.
</blockquote>
South Africa-based forward Khama Billiat is suspended for the first leg after accruing two yellow cards, but Mpandare says he will still go to Ghana regardless. Said Mpandare:

Yes, he will travel because we have more days in Ghana preparing for both the away and return game in Harare, so the coach decided to have him there for training purposes.
We are set to leave on Tuesday for Ghana.

Last month British-based Warriors players missed the World Cup qualifiers against South Africa (home) and Ethiopia (away) after their clubs barred them from travelling.
Those affected included Aston Villa’s Marvelous Nakamba, Jordan Zemura (AFC Bournemouth), Tendayi Darikwa (Wigan Athletic), Brendan Galloway, David Moyo (Hamilton Academical), as well as striker Admiral Muskwe.
The Warriors subsequently drew 0-0 with Bafana Bafana before falling 0-1 against Ethiopia, prompting the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) to fire coach Zdravko Logarusic and appoint Norman Mapeza on an interim basis.

UK-based Warriors To Play Away Game Only, Says Mpandare

The Warriors technical team has confirmed that talisman Khama Billiat will not be available for the first encounter of next month’s back-to-back World Cup qualifiers (WCQs) against Ghana due to suspension.
Team manager Wellington Mpandare told H-Metro on Wednesday that Billiat has accumulated two yellow cards ruling him out of the first game against the Black Stars.
Mpandare revealed that they have already started working on ensuring that United Kingdom-based players are available for the matches.
He said efforts are underway to have players like Marvelous Nakamba, Tendayi Darikwa, Macauley Bonne, David Moyo, Brendan Galloway and Admiral Muskwe travel for the matches. Said Mpandare:

It’s sad that we are going to miss Khama but he will be available for another game.
Ghana is not red zoned, so we are trying to make preparations that they come.
So we are hoping that they will be able to make it this time around.

The England-based players were barred from travelling for Warriors matches this month by their clubs because UK government COVID-19 rules would have forced them to quarantine for 10 days on return to the British shores.
This mean that they were going to miss at least two matches for their clubs while undergoing the mandatory quarantine.

Khama Billiat Out Of Ghana WCQ

A Zimbabwean lecturer has rejected an appointment from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) over poor salary.
Dr Matthew Chiwaridzo was supposed to be a senior lecturer at the Department of Physiotherapy and Sport Sciences.
He mentioned that as a Senior Lecturer grade in Zimbabwe, he is paid US$1 500 per month and not the US$760.00 offered by KNUST. Said Chiwaridzo:

Please note that I am currently in the Senior Lecturer grade (ZWL 1, 561 248.00 per annum; USD 1.500 per month) at the University of Zimbabwe.
It is for this economical reason that I decline the offer of employment at KNUST and will want to explore other opportunities.

The University Teacher Association of Ghana (UTAG) has for a very long time been fighting for better conditions of service as well as a good salary for its members.
Chiwaridzo’s decision comes days after the UTAG suspended their strike over poor conditions of service and the failure of the government to resolve long-standing grievances.
The 2012 conditions of service pegged the Basic plus Market Premium of a lecturer at $2,084.42, but the Ghanaian government has since failed to implement that condition of service for lecturers in the country.

Zimbabwean Lecturer Rejects Job Offer From Ghanaian University Over Poor Salary

Ghanaian footballer, Ishmael Dadson, who was stranded and relying on handouts in Zvishavane, finally received help from the country’s ambassador to Zimbabwe to enable him to fly home.
Dadson (20), was invited for trials early this year by Zvishavane-based Shabanie Mine, with the club eager to push for a return to the Premier League.
The Ghanaian, who left Zimbabwe on Wednesday after Ambassador Grant Ntrakwa bought him a plane ticket, expressed relief that he was able to return to his homeland. He said:

I am super excited that I am finally returning home. Relatives and friends were worried about my situation since I was surviving through well-wishers.
I was worried but I am grateful to everyone who supported me throughout the painful journey.
The ambassador invited me to his office after he was informed about my situation and it took him seconds to come to my rescue.
I was really humbled. I stayed in Harare for two days while waiting for my plane ticket and other formalities to be completed.
It was the will of God. There is no need for me to pinpoint my struggles on anyone. Someone had to learn from me and I believe that one day I will have a story to tell.
It was a challenge that the almighty gave me the strength to overcome.

Micro-Blogging platform company, Twitter, this week announced the opening of its first office on the continent.  Located in Ghana, the company is hiring 11 people in the country to run the operations.

Twitter Chooses Ghana For Its First African Office

MDC Alliance president Nelson Chamisa has lauded the late former military boss and ex-President of Ghana Jerry Rawlings who died this week.
Chamisa said military juntas in Africa should take notes from Rawlings on how the military should defend rather than seek to replace civilian authority.
Chamisa made the remarks after signing the book of condolences at the Ghanaian embassy in Harare following Rawlings’ death. He said:
<blockquote>He teaches us a very important lesson particularly in Zimbabwe that it is important for the military to play a role that is progressive and defending the civilian authority and not replace civilian authority.
The fact that he was able to allow for a smooth handover-takeover and having allowed people to vote, we salute him and we hope that in Zimbabwe, we are not going to continue to see the replacement of the ballot by the bullet or the replacement of the voice of the people in villages and in communities by the sound of the gun.
Let it be about the people, about the civilians defining who they want to govern them and not the military.</blockquote>
Rawlings led a military takeover of the country on two occasions, first in 1979 and 1981, but went on to oversee Ghana’s transition to multi-party democracy before stepping down in 2001.

Ghanaians have come together to build a 100-bed hospital to be used by the country’s health department to admit COVID-19 patients.
The Hospital was built in 10 weeks and it boasts of 100 beds, a state of the art laboratory and 20 ICU beds. Watch the video below:

The former president of Ghana, John Kufor has claimed that the colonial system helped shape the personality of Zimbababwe’s founding leader, the late former President Robert Gabriel Mugabe.
Mugabe died in Singapore on Friday the 6th of September in Singapore where he was receiving medical attention.
We present below Kufuor’s statement.
<blockquote>Statement by Former President John Kufuor on the Passing away of Former President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe
I was deeply saddened upon hearing the death of former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe on Friday 6th September 2019. The former leader of Zimbabwe was a pioneering leader of his people, self-willed, and one with a high level of intellect. He led his nation through the struggles of liberation from colonialism and was very successful as a freedom fighter.
His earlier life of vicissitudes in long political detention, exile, racism, resistance to land grab in his nation and general colonial imposition, hardened him into an uncompromising political leader. This contributed to his over-staying in office and to his eventual overthrow from government.
Nevertheless, he belongs with the liberation leaders of the African continent and the heroes who wrestled Africa from the clutches of colonialism and apartheid.
I mourn with the government and people of Zimbabwe.
May his soul rest in peace.

The Herald reports MDC leader Nelson Chamisa went to Ghana.
The Herald quotes two sources saying Chamisa went to Ghana only and not different African countries. Last week, the opposition said Chamisa had embarked on a diplomatic offensive but refused to reveal the countries he was visiting. A source quoted by The Herald said Chamisa made a big call on a renowned prophet in Accra. The source said:
<blockquote>Yes, Mr Chamisa was away and he travelled to Ghana. He did not brief many people in the party about the objective of the visit save to say he was going on a diplomatic offensive. We understand that he met one of the renowned prophets in Ghana for spiritual guidance as you know our leader is a pastor. His mission had little to do with politics as initially touted.</blockquote>
The Herald reports other sources said Chamisa went to Ghana and attended a meeting of Regional Network for African Pastors.
