<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Harare_City_FC">Harare City FC</a> player Jerry Chipangura (24) has been jailed for 14 months for possessing 40g of methylenedioxymethamphetamine – commonly known as mutoriro.
Chipangura intended to sell in the city, <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/harare-city-player-jailed-for-mutoriro/">The Herald</a> reported.
He was jailed by Harare regional magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka.
<h2>What happened:</h2>
The court heard that on June 30 2022, at around 8 pm, police were informed that Chipangura was dealing in meth in Mabvuku, Harare.
Detectives went to New Mabvuku where they found him along John Tapedza Road.
The detectives identified themselves before searching him and found 40g of meth in a small Adidas black bag that he was carrying.
The drug was in two sachets.
Field tests on the drug carried out in his presence tested positive for meth.
Drug abuse has been on the rise in recent years to the extent that President Emmerson Mnangagwa had to <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/09/05/mnangagwa-appoints-task-force-to-deal-with-drug-abuse/">appoint a task force to hunt down drug peddlers.</a>
Most abused drugs include ganja cakes, a prohibited cough syrup called BronCleer (bronco), mbanje and illicit beers known as “musombodhiya” in street lingo.
Drug abuse has had severe effects on abusers’ health with some even dying.
A report released previously noted that <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Parirenyatwa_Group_of_Hospitals">Parirenyatwa Hospital</a> attends to about <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/09/25/psychiatric-units-overwhelmed-by-drug-abuse-linked-mental-health-cases/">800 mental health patients monthly with most of the ailments being related to drugs.</a>
Admission is only for those with serious illnesses that they cannot go back home while most of them are sent back home after treatment.
Most patients have complications arising from crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “mutoriro”, “dombo” or “guka.”

Harare City FC Player Jailed For Selling Mutoriro

Harare City Council has resolved to sponsor the annual Harare Golf Tournament, a development that will see the local government authority parting ways with US$20 000.
The irony, however, is that the city fathers are failing to provide basic services to the ratepayers arguing that the local authority does not have adequate resources.
The resolution was made on the 1st of October 2019 with the Ordinary Council meeting viewing it as a revenue mobilising strategy.
The move was castigated by the Combined Harare Residents Association (CHRA) Director, Lorraine Musariri who advised the Council to prioritize service delivery. She said:
<blockquote>CHRA does not support extravagant spending, especially considering that the Council is struggling to deliver basic social services to residents citing limited financial resources. 
We urge the Mayor to honour the promise that he made at the SOCA that the Harare City Council will prioritize service delivery above anything else.</blockquote>
Only recently, whilst delivering his State of the City Address (SOCA), His Worship the Mayor of Harare, Cllr Herbert Gomba revealed the subnational government’s plans to focus on service delivery.
He also announced that the city fathers were now stopping sponsorship to Harare City Football Club which has proved to be an unsustainable project.

Harare City To Disburse US$20K To Sponsor Golf Tournament

How Mine coach Kelvin Kaindu has labelled their Chibuku Super Cup semi final opponents Harare City as a team that believes in “other things”. Kaindu said that the team plays its game at night before the actual match implying that they use juju.
Said Kaindu:
<blockquote>We are playing a team that believes in other things that is their strength but for us I think we worship God and we trust in the almighty. For this this is a battle that has started and I think there will be many issues to come up football being played in the night and before the game has started. There will be battles on the field of play and battles outside the field of play. We are playing a game against the opponents probably thought that wanted to play against us. I am happy that God has allowed that. We are waiting to see because there is a lot involved before and during the match. I hope God will be on our side.</blockquote>
At one time Harare City had candles of different colours burning in the dressing room while matches were underway. In another incident it had a black run across the pitch at Rufaro stadium during a league match against Highlanders some seasons ago while Bigboy Mawiwi was still in charge.

Harare City coach, Philani Ncube mocked Highlanders coach Erol Akbay following his team’s victory in a Chibuku Super Cup first round match at Mandava Stadium. He also dedicated the win to their injured fans who were attacked by Highlanders fans 26 minutes into the match.
Said Ncube:
<blockquote>We are happy we won. We were playing one of the big teams, a team with tradition. It’s unfortunate for their coach Akbay. What is he going to tell the Highlanders magnitudes now? He has been talking a lot. He succeeded with the assistance of Cosmas Zulu and Amini Soma-Phiri and now you can see there is something wrong. Harare City dedicate win over Highlanders to injured fans

<a href="http://sportbrief.co.zw/2017/05/24/philani-ncube-replaces-madzivanyika-at-harare-city/">Sport Brief reports that</a> <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Philani_Ncube">Philani Ncube</a> has been appointed the new coach for Harare City Football after the dismissal of Mike Madzivanyika.
Ncube who was previously Bulawayo City Football Club’s coach, was last year suspended provisionally by ZIFA for his alleged involvement in a match fixing scandal where he attempted to bribe Border Strikers goalkeeper <a class="new" href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/index.php?title=Talent_Sande&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1" title="Talent Sande (page does not exist)">Talent Sande</a> ahead of a match between Border Strikers and Bulawayo City.
Harare City have so far collected seven points out of a possible 27 in the nine matches they have played this season. The team’s strike-force has scored only two goals so far.

Harare City appoints new coach

Harare City Football Club is expected to fire its coach  Mike Madzivanyika should the club fail to beat Highlanders in a match set to be played at the National Sports Stadium today.
The Sunshine Boys have a single win after seven matches and are fourth from bottom ahead of their match against Bosso which kicks off at 3PM Zimbabwean time. A source told Sports Zone that the club’s executive have already began preparing for life after Madzivanyika who is set to be redeployed elsewhere within the club. It is  not clear who will be the club’s next coach but former Warriors coach Kallisto Pasuwa remains a choice while former Caps United expatriate gaffer Mark Harrison has also surfaced as a possible candidate.

Harare City coach set to be fired if club fails to beat Highlanders today

Former <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Harare_City_Football_Club">Harare City Football Club</a> coach, <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Moses_Chunga">Moses Chunga</a> says he will not lose sleep simply because the club decided not to extend his contract beyond the end of this month and says he was a success at the club in the seven months he was manager.
Reports had suggested Harare City tabled an extended two-year contract for Chunga, which was supposed to be signed this month, but the club had a change of heart and decided against an extension while giving assistant coach, Mkhuphali Masuku, the job.
Speaking to The Herald Chunga said:
<blockquote>I would like to say thank you to Mr Masepe (Alois, the club chairman) for the time we worked together this season. We once worked together at Dynamos and I hope we will work together again in future. I have no qualms with Harare City. They made their decision not to renew my contract but it is not the end of my life. There is life after Harare City and handirase mbereko nekufirwa.</blockquote>

Chunga speaks on Harare City F.C exit

<a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Harare_City_FC">Harare City F.C.</a> have decided not to renew <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Moses_Chunga">Moses Chunga</a>‘s contract when it expires on 31 December 2016.  Chunga took charge  of Harare City FC in May this year and was given a performance-related contract.  However, his charges finished in 9th position.
Harare City Club secretary Matthew Marara said:
<blockquote>His contract is expiring on December 31 and we are not going to renew it and to us that is not firing. Mkhuphali Masuku is going to take over as the head coach on January 1.</blockquote>

Moses Chunga and Harare City F.C. part ways

<a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Harare_City_Football_Club">Harare City Football Club</a> secretary Matthew Marara confirmed that <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Moses_Chunga">Moses Chunga</a> was given a performance-based contract that will expire at the end of the season and was not going to be renewed.
Chunga was appointed the Sunshine City Boys new coach after Taurai Mangwiro was fired in May and he managed a 9th place finish. The club also confirmed that Mkhuphali Masuku will be taking over as coach starting 1 January 2017.
The Chronicle could not reach Chunga for comment yesterday as his phone went unanswered.

Harare City parts ways with Moses Chunga

The <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Premier_Soccer_League">Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League</a> yesterday released the fixture schedule for the last four, where <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Harare_City_Football_Club">Harare City </a>and <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Ngezi_Platinum_F.C.">Ngezi Platinum</a> will host FC Platinum and <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Highlanders_Football_Club">Highlanders</a> at Mandava and <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Barbourfields_Stadium">Barbourfields </a>on Saturday and Sunday respectively. <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/FC_Platinum">FC Platinum</a> and Highlanders will effectively be away at their own home grounds.
City and Ngezi were drawn to play at home during the competition’s draw, conducted in the capital recently. Harare City coach, <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Moses_Chunga">Moses “Bambo” Chunga</a> said,
<blockquote>If I say I feel at home, I should be at home with the supporters behind me. I can’t say I’m at home when the whole stadium is against me. They are just coddling us, but the truth of the matter is we are not at home, we are away. But do we have a choice? The administrators have done their job and, as coaches, we will have to do ours of preparing the team for all the circumstances.</blockquote>
Ngezi Platinum coach, <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Tonderai_Ndiraya">Tonderai Ndiraya</a> was equally shocked by the PSL’s decision to have his team travel to Bulawayo for their “home” match. He said,
<blockquote>We don’t know the criteria that they use to choose the venues, but something doesn’t sound right to me. We can’t be at home to Highlanders at Barbourfields. Playing Highlanders at Barbourfields is clearly an advantage to them. They should come clean to say, you are playing away at Highlanders. That is the right way of putting it. A neutral venue for all participating teams would have been fairer. But there is nothing we can do about it. We have to accept the situation and prepare as much as we can for a good result. We will go there and do our best and silence their supporters.</blockquote>
