Zimbabwe National Organisation of Associations and Residents Trusts (ZNOART), an Apex body representing all associations and residents alleges that violent youths disrupted a residents association and Tongai Mnangagwa (Harare South Member of Parliament) tour in Southlea Park.
<blockquote>The was a barbaric scene yesterday in Southlea park when violent youths attacked residents who were waiting to be addressed by the Member of Parliament for Harare South Honourable Tongai Mnangagwa. The lawmaker was set to meet and address Southlea Park residents at an event organized by ZIMBABWE NATIONAL ORGANISATION OF ASSOCIATIONS AND RESIDENTS TRUSTS(ZNOART).The program aimed to address the issues of service delivery and infrastructure development that have been a cause of concern in Southlea Park and Harare in general.
Last year the president H.E ED Mnangagwa declared war on land barons followed by a land commission that aimed to address the issue of land barons and several people have been arrested. Land barons are distributing land set aside for schools, clinics and sometime doing double allocations of stands this is being done illegally, well-known land barons are using their political muscles to protect their illegal dealings.
ZNOART organised a tour accompanied by Hon Tongai Mnangagwa to Southlea park to get first-hand information on the issue of land barons and to address the issue of Regularisation of stands. Southlea Park residents were gathered near Candy shops waiting for the lawmaker and ZNOART executive, at around 9 in the morning violent youths led by a man only identified as Nhakiwa arrived at the venue holding empty bottles, sticks and stones. They displaced the gathering and assaulted local residents association leaders and reportedly told them that Southlea park is a no go area.
The youth are said to have been sent by Pfundukwa whom Southlea Park residence are accusing of selling stands on wetlands and on areas set aside for schools, clinics etc illegally. The residence are believing that the attack was meant to stop ZNOART and Hon Mnangagwa from exposing the situation on the ground.

Violent Youths Disrupt Tongai Mnangagwa, Resident Association Tour In Southlea Park - ZNOART

Tongai Mnangagwa who is the Harare South Legislator has announced that he tetsted positive for COVID-19, Open Parly reports.
The matter came to light when Mnangagwa who is the third MP to test positive for the virus released a statement urging all those he had been in contact with to follow WHO Guidelines to self isolate. Mnangagwa said this in a statement announcing his status:
<blockquote>It is with great dismay that I have to deliver this news to you my friends and colleagues. I have tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and I am appealing to everyone who has been in contact with me to take precautionary measures and get tested and/or go into isolation whilst practicing all the safety precautions.
This is not something easy, it deters you from your loved ones and also affects the people around you that love you. Its is not a situation I would want anyone to be in…. Its a painful road, having to get up each day and hope to make it to the next. I sometimes experience pain that is so excruciating that I feel like letting go. This disease has taken away our loved ones and continues to do so and this is sad.
It would not be fair for me not to open up because I know I work with a lot of people and I do not want to see them lose their lives. I also owe it to the electorate who voted for me to get into Parliament to represent them.</blockquote>
Prior to him announcing that he tested positive Lacet laboratory tests results about his status had been leaked and were circulating on social media. Tongai last week was accused by social media of terrorising people from Harare South with videos of people being harassed by his supposed accomplices circulating on all social media platforms.

Tongai Mnangagwa Tests Positive For COVID-19

Tongai Mnangagwa who is the ZANU PF’s Harare South MP has started an initiative to donate mealie meal in his constituency as he said he discovered that a lot of people in his constituency rely on vending and are having a tough time making ends meet.
This was revealed by Mnangagwa himself who said he is donating 10 000kgs of mealie meal every week to households in his constituency:
<blockquote>I have launched a programme to donate mealie meal in my constituency after realising that most people in Harare South used to survive on vending which has since been restricted by the current lockdown.
So once a week, I am donating a 10kg bag of maize meal to 1 000 households per each to supplement their families and I hope to increase the quantities and other grocery varieties going forward.</blockquote>
Mnangagwa also urged other legislators to do the same when he said:
<blockquote>I urge other legislators to try their best and assist vulnerable families during these difficult times.</blockquote>
Beneficiaries of the program are said to be happy with Mnangagwa’s efforts.

Tongai Mnangagwa Donating 10 000kgs Of Mealie Meal Every Week To His Constituency, Urges Other MPs To Donate To Voters Too

The World Food Program has announced it will soon start dispatching food hampers the Herald reports.
The food hampers will mainly benefit residents in <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Marondera">Epworth</a>, Harare South, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Norton">Norton</a>, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Marondera">Marondera</a>, Rusape, Mutare, Bulawayo and Masvingo.
Speaking about the program WFP said:
<blockquote>The pilot will run for one year. In addition to provision of food assistance through CBT (Cash Based Transfers), this will be accompanied by resilience-building interventions to promote the well-being of vulnerable households in the urban areas and their ability to cope with shocks and stressors in future.
Implementation of resilience-building interventions will start in the first quarter of 2020 upon completion of the baseline exercise to identify the activities through community and stakeholder engagement.
“To implement the response plan at the revised level and reach 4.1 million people at the peak of the lean season, WFP requires an additional US$211 million, which is the funding gap. The total requirement for December to June is US$293 million</blockquote>
Harare and Bulawayo residents have already started receiving the food hamper which comprised of ampers grain, beans and cooking oil.

WFP To Start Disbursing Food Hampers In Urban Areas

The government has ordered Harare South residents to stop all developments in the area with immediate effect to pave way for proper planning.
A public notice by the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing reads:
<blockquote>Notice is hereby given to all residents of Harare peri-urban to immediately stop all construction in the Harare South area.
This decision has been precipitated by the mushrooming of developments on unplanned areas that include wetlands, institutional stands, commercial sites, roads, open spaces and buffer areas, among others.</blockquote>
The Ministry advised members of the public to first verify with the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Harare_City_Council" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">City of Harare</a> or with the Ministry itself before entering into any land-related transactions.
Harare South MP Tongai Mnangagwa said that land barons were taking advantage of residents and he pledged to relocate those who are on wrong sites.
