Tafadzwa Primrose Jaricha , a 23 year old lawyer with Mhungu and Associates Legal Practitioners landed herself the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe crown after beating 20 other beauties at Rainbow Hotel in Bulawayo on Saturday night.
Jaricha is based in Mutare and is affiliated to Affric Modelling Agency. She pocketed a cash prize of $10 000 courtesy of Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and is set to receive a Mercedes-Benz C Class from South Africa-based Zimbabwean businesswoman and philanthropist, Mercy Mafaro.
She expressed gratitude to God, her family as well as her patron Carol Marufu and mentor Sarah Mpofu-Sibanda.
Said Jaricha:

Legal Practitioner Wins Miss Tourism Zimbabwe Pageant

Miss Tourism Zimbabwe (MTZ) models were taken to Walter Magaya’s prayer mountain in Harare’s Waterfalls suburb to “meditate and connect with God”.Magaya hosted the 21 models vying for MTZ contest at his Yadah Hotel in Waterfalls for “free”.The MTZ final event is scheduled for September 22 at Rainbow Hotel in Bulawayo.
Sibusisiwe Dube Muleya, the chairperson of Miss Tourism Zimbabwe pageant, said that the girls went to Magaya as part of the boot camp experience.
Said Muleya:
<blockquote>Events and proceedings seem to be jellying and we are really looking to the final pageant on Saturday.
Miss Tourism boot camp is underway. 21 bevy of beauties started boot camp in Harare. On September 12, a glitzy sashing ceremony and Miss Talent show was done at the hotel,” Dube-Muleya said.
It surely has been a boot camp with a difference, the girls were taken to the prayer mountain where they were given time to meditate and connect with God.</blockquote>

Models Taken To Magaya’s Prayer Mountain To Mediate And Connect With God

Miss World Zimbabwe and Miss Tourism Zimbabwe (MTZ) finals will be held on the same day, September 8.
Miss Tourism finals will be held in Bulawayo, Miss World Zimbabwe has been holding auditions for aspiring models for the pageant whose finale will be in Harare. Miss World Zimbabwe spokesperson Tendai Chirau said the final will be held in Harare on September 8 at Borrowdale Brooke golf course.

Miss World Zimbabwe, Miss Tourism Finals On Same Day

Miss Tourism Zimbabwe (MTZ) pageant patron Sarah Mpofu-Sibanda said they have removed the A-Level certificate minimum academic requirement for aspiring models to participate in the competition saying that they did not want to exclude people who would have failed to complete their studies for varying reasons.
She said those who wish to compete should be aged between 18-24 years, 1,67 metres tall and above, have never given birth or known to have been pregnant at any given point. They should be unmarried, have no criminal record, no tattoo or highly visible marks and hold a valid Zimbabwean passport or identification card. Said Mpofu-Sibanda:
<blockquote>Now, all we want is for the contestants to have a recognisable academic background. This means we want evidence that you learnt somewhere. We’re doing this because we don’t want to shut out models who might have failed to complete their O-Levels but have the passion and looks for the industry. To disqualify them just because they don’t have the minimum requirements isn’t fair.</blockquote>

Miss Tourism Zimbabwe Scraps A-Level Requirement

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has launched the search for the new Miss Tourism Zimbabwe to replace Ashley Morgen, who has been the 2017 reigning queen.
The national auditions will be held from Friday to Sunday at the Andy Miller Hall at the Harare Exhibition Park, with the finals scheduled for December 19 with 15 finalists vying for the top prize. The pageant is open to single Zimbabwean women aged between 18 and 25, who have never married or given birth.
NewsDay reports that the contestants are expected to go into boot camp next month. It is not yet clear if Miss Tourism Zimbabwe has secured a new principal sponsor, following the pullout of South Africa-based businessman Justice Maphosa’s Big Time Strategic Group.

Miss Tourism Zimbabwe launches auditions

<a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Selmor_Mtukudzi"> Selmor Mtukudzi</a>’s lawyers Farayi Nyamayaro Law Chambers, yesterday wrote to Miss Tourism Zimbabwe Trust demanding $3 250 as payment for the artiste’s fees for being contracted to play at the pageant held last year. The trust is alleged to have breached a contract with the musician, when, just before the show started, advised her that she no longer had a slot on the schedule.
The law firm said Mtukudzi had spent money in preparing to perform at the show and was entitled to the fees since she had cancelled all her other shows. It also claimed that the trust had promised to pay after the show despite the non-performance. In the contract which was attached to the demand letter, it was agreed that Mtukudzi would be paid the fee broken down as $3 000 performance fee for her 10-member ensemble and $250 for transport and refreshments.
NewsDay reports that Benjamin Chimutengo from the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe Trust was not immediately available to comment on the matter yesterday. Mtukudzi’s lawyers said they will take the trust to court if they fail to pay the sum of $3 250 within seven days of the date of the demand letter.

Zimdancehall star Shinsoman has apologized for wearing an outfit decorated with the marijuana plant  at the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe finals.  The first lady Grace Mugabe was one of the guests at the function.
Shinsoman’s manager  Peter Chiyangwa said:

The outfit was not appropriate for the event. It was an error on our part and we apologise for that as we didn’t realise that the First Lady would be there.
It was probably the excitement of being called to perform at such a great event so we wanted to look extraordinary.
Those Jamaican people whom we draw inspiration from smoke ganja and so forth so we just thought of wearing the ganja suit as a symbol that we also believe that ragga originated from the smoking of ganja.
