Police have revealed the names of six ZANU PF members who died in a road traffic accident that occurred along Murambinda Betera Road near Mugombe Primary School on Saturday evening.
On Sunday, police said an Isuzu lorry with 40 passengers on board collided head-on with a Nissan Diesel truck that had one passenger on board resulting in six fatalities, with 18 other passengers injured.
In a statement released on Monday evening, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the victims were positively identified by the next of kin as follows:

<li>Danford Mugombe (53) of Mugombe Village, Buhera,</li>
<li>Veronica Mugombe (69) of Mugombe Village, Buhera,</li>
<li>Forward Mandishona (39) of Vengesai Village, Buhera,</li>
<li>Tinotenda Chinyanganya of Mugombe Village, Buhera,</li>
<li>Barnabas Edson of Mangezi Village, Buhera,</li>
<li>Netsai Mukute of Mukute Village, Buhera.</li>
</ul>
The ZRP has urged drivers to be cautious on the roads and adhere to all road rules and regulations.

Police Release Names Of Buhera Accident Victims

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a road traffic accident that claimed the lives of six ZANU PF members in Buhera on Saturday evening.
In a statement, ZRP said an Isuzu lorry with 40 passengers on board collided head-on with a Nissan Diesel truck which had one passenger on board.
Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. Reads the statement:
<blockquote>
The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on 25/03/23 along Murambinda – Betera Road, near Mugombe Primary School, in which six people died while 18 others were injured when an Isuzu lorry with 40 passengers on board was involved in a head-on collision with a Nissan Diesel truck which had one passenger on board.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Murambinda Hospital mortuary for postmortem whilst the injured are admitted at the same hospital.

Police, however, are yet to release the names of the six people who perished in the tragic accident.
The Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) has attributed road accidents to speeding, overtaking error, not giving way, following too close, reversing error, negligent pedestrian/ cyclists and fatigue.
Individuals can take measures to prevent the chances of accidents when driving. These are:
<ul>
<li>Drive at the prescribed speed limits on the various roads. Always remember that “Speed thrills but kills”.</li>
<li>Always put on helmets, seat belts and other safety equipment before driving a bicycle/motorcycle/vehicle. Always remember that “Safety saves”.</li>
<li>Do not drink and drive. Always remember that “You cannot hold a pen properly after two pegs, what about the driving wheel?”</li>
<li>Never use mobile phones or earphones while driving. Always remember “A mobile call on the road may be the last call of your life”.</li>
<li>Know the traffic signs, signals, lights and traffic safety rules before you hit the road. Always remember that “Road safety rules are the best tools to avoid accidents”.</li>
<li>Do not drive for long hours in a stretch. Have proper breaks after every 2 hours of continuous driving. Always remember that “Man is a man and not a machine”.</li>

Police Confirm Accident That Killed 6 ZANU PF Members In Buhera

Six ZANU PF members died on Saturday evening and 17 others were seriously when a truck they were travelling on was involved in an accident in Buhera.
The lorry reportedly collided head-on with another vehicle in the Mugombe area of Buhera.
According to the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Information, Public and Broadcasting Services Ndavaningi Mangwana, three of the deceased died on the spot and the other three died at Murambinda Hospital. Tweeted Mangwana:

A Lorry carrying ZANU PF supporters was involved in an accident along the Murambinda-Birchnough Bridge road.
Three people died on the spot whilst the other three died at Murambinda Hospital making six deaths.
The other 17 have serious injuries and are in hospital.

ZANU PF held primary elections in Manicaland and other seven provinces on Saturday and party members who were involved in the accident were presumably returning from voting.

Six ZANU PF Members Perish In Lorry Accident

A 12-year-old Buhera boy fought and escaped from a crocodile that had attacked him as he crossed <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Save_River">Save River.</a>
Delvin Mutsvakiwa, a Grade Seven student at St Moses Primary School in <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Buhera_District">Buhera</a>, was badly injured on both hands.
The boy said he poked his fingers into the reptile’s nostrils, a lesson he had received from his grandmother.
With the crocodile’s air supply running low, it became powerless and let Delvin go.
The boy took the opportunity to quickly swim to safety.
Delvin told <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/brave-boy-fights-crocodile/">The Manica Post</a> that the incident happened when they were helping cattle cross the Save River. He spoke in an interview held after he was discharged from Murambinda Mission Hospital after a two-day stay at the institution. He said:
<blockquote>
We were helping our cattle cross Save River and I was in front. We had helped the first and second batches of our herd to cross the river. We were crossing with the last batch when I felt a sharp pain on my left arm.
I realised that a crocodile was attacking me. My friends who were behind me ran back to the riverbank and started shouting, advising me to wade to the reeds.
I shouted back that it was too deep for me to do that. I could see that if I took heed of their advice, the reptile would eventually overpower and kill me.
That’s when I poked my fingers into the crocodile’s nostrils. After a few minutes, I realised that it had become powerless. It let go its grip on my hand and I quickly swam to the riverbank.
I was badly injured and was bleeding profusely. I had to put some sand on the wounds to stop the bleeding.

The crocodile followed Delvin’s blood trail and caught up with him.
The reptile, however, caught a goat that was passing by and disappeared into the river.
At that time, Delvin’s three friends had rushed to the village to inform the elders that he had been attacked by a crocodile. He added:
<blockquote>
Had the crocodile attacked me for the second time, I would not have survived since I was now powerless. I had lost a lot of blood and was already feeling dizzy.
When I saw it opening its mouth, I closed my eyes and waited for fate to take its course since I could no longer defend myself.
</blockquote>
His mother, Ms Matilda Mutsvakiwa, said when fellow villagers arrived at the river, they were already crying as they thought that Delvin was long dead. She said:
<blockquote>
There was no sight of him and the water in the river was bloody.
Little did we know that it was both Delvin’s blood and that of the goat which had ultimately become the crocodile’s meal.
 People were crying and the village head was about to call the police to alert them of Delvin’s death when a weak Delvin shouted that he was alive and was across the river.
I thank God for rescuing my son and giving him a second chance to life.
</blockquote>
Ms Mutsvakiwa added that quite recently, Delvin’s cousin lost his life after a crocodile attacked him at the same crossing point and that’s when her mother started imparting survival skills on her grandchildren.
The grandchildren were taught to either put a reed inside the reptile’s mouth or insert their fingers in its nostrils.
Buhera North legislator, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/William_Mutomba">William Mutomba</a>, has since adopted the boy, contributed US$300 towards Delvin’s medical bills and has also offered to pay for the boy’s secondary school education.

12-year-old Boy Narrates How He Escaped From A Crocodile

A 24-year-old woman from Buhera, Manicaland Province, has been arrested for murder after she crushed her two-month-old baby’s head against a rock and killed him during a prayer session.
The woman, Mary Rukobo, from Mashangana Village in the Muzokomba area in Buhera said she heard a voice instructing her to kill her two children, including the now-deceased, while she was engaged in prayer.
Police said the matter came to light after Rukobo confessed the murder to some villagers. Police said in a statement:

Police in Muzokomba have arrested Mary Rukobo (24) in connection with a case of murder that occurred on 19/01/23 at Mashangana Village, Buhera.
The suspect allegedly confessed to some villagers that she crashed the heads of her two kids against a rock several times during a prayer session after hearing a voice to kill all the kids.
One of the kids, Calvin Maputsa (2 months) sustained head injuries and died on the spot, while another kid (2) sustained a swollen head and was admitted at a Murambinda Mission Hospital.

Woman Claims A Voice During Prayer Session Instructed Her To Kill Own Children

A <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Buhera">Buhera</a> man who trafficked a married woman to Masvingo Province and stayed with her against her will from November 2021 to January 2022 has been sentenced to spend the next 70 years in jail.
Witness Jichichi of Muchuwa Village under Chief Nyashanu was not represented by anyone when he appeared before Rusape regional magistrate, Mr Francis Mapfumo.
He was convicted on one count of human trafficking and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Jichichi was also convicted on three counts of rape and was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in each of the cases.
He, however, was acquitted of deliberately infecting the woman with HIV, according to <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/human-trafficker-caged-70-years/">Manica Post</a>.
<h2>What happened:</h2>
Prosecutor, Mr Marlon Makamba said Jichichi lied to the victim and her husband that he was an employee of a development partner and could facilitate the couple’s employment within the organisation in Masvingo.
He tricked the husband to remain behind in the village and lied that he was going to the development partner’s local offices to sign the employment contract with the complainant.
Instead, he took the unsuspecting woman into captivity.
After tricking the complainant and her husband, Jichichi went with the complainant to an unknown place in Masvingo.
While in Masvingo, Jichichi would force himself on the woman and in the process, he “deliberately” infected her with HIV.
The woman told the court that while in Masvingo, she stayed at a farm with Jichichi and he would always act like her bodyguard, following her around.
Jichichi only released his captive after learning that the woman’s relatives were looking for her on both formal and social media platforms.

Buhera Man Jailed For 70 Years For Human Trafficking

An eight-year-old boy was killed in Buhera recently when a grenade he was playing with exploded.
Tinevimbo Seven (8) was playing with Tadiwanashe Seven (14) with a grenade which they had mistaken for a ball when it blew up.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Manicaland Province, Inspector Norbert Muzondo, confirmed the incident.
He said Tinevimbo sustained severe chest and face injuries from the blast which killed him instantly. He said:
<blockquote>
The two boys picked up what they thought was a ball. They did not know that it was a dangerous explosive.
Tinevimbo took the metal ‘ball’ and placed it in a fowl run. They started playing with it.
As the children were playing, their mother, Ms Monica Muchineresa heard an explosion.
She rushed to investigate and discovered that Tinevimbo had been badly injured and had holes in his chest, left hand and face. She rendered first aid services, but to no avail.
She called Mr Maxwell Shumba to assist, but they could not save the young boy’s life.
Mr Shumba made a police report and Tinevimbo’s body was conveyed to the mortuary.

Grenade Explosion Kills Boy (8) In Buhera

The police blocked ZANU PF activists from staging a demonstration against Buhera South Member of Parliament Joseph Chinotimba (ZANU PF) on Wednesday.
The protestors had planned to march to the party’s Buhera district offices at Murambinda growth point but failed to do so after police blocked access to the area.
Chinotimba angered ZANU PF activists after a leaked video circulated on social media platforms in which he alleged that President Emmerson Mnangagwa was planning to remove him from Parliament.
The outspoken MP made the remarks while addressing party supporters in Muchini village, Ward 29 in Buhera South. Chinotimba said:
<blockquote>
I have put electricity in most areas in my constituency and I have not stopped … now Mnangagwa wants to send his people to remove me. This country was fought for by war veterans.
</blockquote>
On Monday, a ZANU PF youth group calling itself the Zimbabwe Revolutionary and Patriotic Youth Network wrote a letter on Monday demanding an explanation from Chinotimba. They accused him of undermining the President.
The letter was written by the group’s secretary for external affairs, Tendai Nyikadzino and addressed to newly-elected ZANU PF youth leader John Paradza.
ZANU PF Manicaland provincial leadership led by Mike Madiro reportedly ordered the police to block the demonstration.
However, Madiro refused to comment to NewsDay on the matter while Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Manicaland Province Inspector Nobert Muzondo said he was not aware of the demonstration.

ZANU PF Activists' Protest Against Chinotimba Flops

Traditional leaders in Buhera are at loggerheads over the activities of Tsikamutandas (witch hunters) in the area.
Headman Neshava (Janson Mubaiwa) has accused village head Simon Chimhau of bringing tsikamutandas into the area and using them to extort subjects.
Neshava told Chipinge Times that he wants Chimhau fired for the alleged crimes and has written a letter to the District Development Co-ordinator (DDC) who has the powers to initiate the firing of errand traditional leaders.
The tsikamutandas accuse villagers of practising witchcraft and then order them to pay hefty sums of money, heads of cattle or goats to be exorcised.
The rituals which are performed at night at Marovanyati Dam are reportedly causing serious family rifts.
Headman Neshava accused Chimhau of bringing tsikamutandas from as far as Harare and using them to terrorise and extort villagers.
Chimhau confirmed that tsikamutandas were causing havoc in his area but refuted allegations that he was involved.
Meanwhile, Buhera DDC Freeman Mavhiza said it is a crime for tsikamutandas to go around witch-hunting and called on headman Neshava to make an immediate report to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP). He said:

I however have not yet received Neshava’s letter but I must emphasise that what the tsikamutandas are doing is a crime and they must be reported to the police at once.
I’m going to phone the headman and instruct him to report these people to the police at once.

Four minors belonging to the same family from Buhera were burnt to death Monday after a hut they were sleeping in caught fire causing the roof to collapse.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the tragic incident that happened in Machaka village under Chief Nerutanga in Buhera.
Chanada said the incident happened around 9 pm adding that investigations were already underway. He identified the deceased as follows:

The police said on April 12 around 7 pm, the deceased minors’ mother Melody Zimondi (31) retired to bed in the kitchen hut with her children after having supper.
Zimondi woke up around 9 pm as she was being choked by smoke and discovered that the house was on fire. It is reported that they did not have a lamp or candle in their room when they went to sleep.
Tino and Rumbi sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Murambinda hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival while Takudzwa and Tanyaradzwa were burnt to death. Said the police spokesperson:

She got out of the house and cried for help. Paul Machaka, aged 58, rushed to the scene and managed to rescue Tinotenda and Rumbi before the roof collapsed.

The matter was reported to the police who attended the scene.

Four Minors Burnt To Death, Mother Escapes

Police in Buhera recently nabbed five suspected cattle rustlers who had stolen 19 herds of cattle from Makonya Village under Chief Nyashanu, Masvingo Mirror reports.
The five suspects appeared before Murambinda Magistrate Tapiwa Kuhudzai on allegations of stock theft on Wednesday and were all remanded in custody.
The state alleges that on the night of January 11 and 12 2021, Samson Mashingaidze, Trust Tabarira and Stanford Zivengwa stole 12 cattle from John Makonya’s pen, four from Netsai Gadzira and three from Muswe Majoni.
Makonya and Gadzira are both from Makonya Village while Majoni resides near Manhuru Township, under Chief Nyashanu.
The suspects intended to sell the beasts at Sari Abattoir in Harare and share the proceeds.
After rounding up the beasts, the group drove the cattle to Mashingaidze’s home where Jani Mumanyi and Blessing Mutumani were waiting with a vehicle to take them to Harare.
However, the suspects received a tip-off that police were coming for them and they ran away before loading the cattle in the truck.
Three of the suspects drove the cattle to a field near Manhuru Township where they left them tied to a tree.
Police recovered all the 19 cattle valued at $470 000.

Police Bust Rustling Syndicate In Buhera

Roads in Masvingo urban have become so damaged that some residents in Rujeko C are reportedly fetching water from the deep gullies, Tell Zim reports.
According to the publication, motorists with powerful 4×4 vehicles are the only ones who can use some of the roads which now have deep gullies:

Persistent rains have worsened some roads in some parts of the country. Bridges were reportedly wiped away by the rains in Buhera South cutting off some parts of the constituency from the rest of the world. Masvingo Residents Fetching Water Out Of Potholes - Report

Twenty-four of the 100 heifers donated to Buhera villagers four months ago by Vice President Constantine Chiwenga have died.
The heifers were donated under the Heifer Pass on Scheme to replenish thousands of herds of cattle lost to bovine theileriosis (January disease), a tick-borne disease.
Masvingo Mirror reported sources saying the livestock succumbed drought, lack of supplements and proper care.
The Heifer Pass on Scheme was intended to benefit poor villagers but the scheme was reportedly hijacked by senior Zanu PF officials in the district.
Farmers who received the heifers are supposed to pass them on when they have new calves, therefore, the pass on the programme has been severely incapacitated by the 24 deaths.
Buhera District veterinary officer, Doctor Samson Chiduku told Masvingo Mirror that his office is incapacitated to monitor the project and he does not have information on the heifers. He said:
<blockquote>We don’t have fuel to monitor the heifers. We, therefore, have not visited the farmers and do not have information on what is happening.</blockquote>
Some farmers are reportedly selling away the heifers for US$100 when they become too weak to walk while others are slaughtering them for meat.

24 'Pass On Scheme' Heifers Donated By VP Chiwenga Die In Buhera

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has pledged to pay school fees for a primary schoolgirl who charmed him with a poem following the commissioning of the Marovanyati Dam project on Wednesday.
The pledge to pay fees for Lizet Munzveda from Chapanduka Primary School in Buhera school was announced by the Minister of Defence and War Veterans Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.
She said President Mnangagwa had pledged to pay Lizet’s fees from her current grade until she completes her university.
Lizet had through her poem educated fellow villagers in Buhera and Zimbabwe at large on the significance of water and other Government initiatives such as the Pfumvudza farming concept.
The president also gave the girl US$100 after she had finished reciting her powerful poem.

Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa on Monday confirmed the report that a 14-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging.
Beloved Choga from Nhokwara village in Buhera hung herself to death after being reprimanded by her mother for failing to perform household chores.
Reports indicate that on June 10, Beloved was quizzed by her mother Memory Choga (38) why she was not doing her household chores.
Dejected and depressed over her mother’s rebuke, Beloved left home a few hours later and her mother failed to locate her.
After searching for the teenager for hours without much success, villagers gave up the search only for Shadreck Nhokwara to stumble upon the juvenile’s corpse two days later hanging from a tree.
Nhokwara reported the matter to the nearby police station.

Buhera Teenager Kills Self Over Unwashed Dishes

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga today launched the Presidential Heifer pass-on scheme for farmers who lost their cattle in the 2020 January disease, The Herald reports. Farmers in Manicaland and Masvingo particularly Buhera and Gutu Districts will receive 194 heifers and they will pass on the first calves of the heifers to other farmers.
According to the publication:
<blockquote>Another 400 heifers will be distributed to subsequent beneficiary farmers as more heifers are made available.</blockquote>
The launch took place at Taguta Farm in Chipinge today.

Chiwenga Launches Presidential Heifer Pass-On Program To Benefit Farmers Who Lost Their Herds Due To The 2020 January Disease

Community members in Buhera, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Manicaland_Province" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Manicaland province</a> say their lives have been transformed by the construction of Marowanyati Dam.
Murambinda Irrigation Scheme which draws water from the dam has which has 34 farmers. The chairman of the scheme, William Muridzi said that most members of the community were now self-sustainable and did not need donor funds. He said:
<blockquote>We used to have challenges to get water here, especially when we had droughts.
We would write off most crops and count our losses, but now we are planting all-year-round. We have something to show for having such a resource in our community.</blockquote>
The dam is located on Mwerihari River, a perennial stream with an annual flow of 182 million litres.
It is now 96 per cent complete in terms of normal construction and has 33 million cubic metres out of full supply capacity of 50 million cubic metres.

Marowanyati Dam Weans Buhera Villagers From Donor Dependence

Cattle are dying “like flies” in <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Buhera_District" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Buhera district</a>, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Manicaland_Province" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Manicaland province</a>, from a tick-borne disease – January disease or theileriosis.
Buhera veterinary officer Dr Samson Chiduku said the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) has failed to implement the national communal dipping service meant to protect cattle from tick-borne diseases due to a shortage of chemicals. He said:
<blockquote>We are failing to provide enough dipping chemicals to villagers and we have abandoned the routine schedule of dipping cattle weekly in summer and fortnightly in winter and autumn.
We are dipping at least once in two months. While we encourage the farmers to buy their own dip chemicals, the harsh economic situation in the district is making it impossible for people to afford dip chemicals.</blockquote>
Reports indicate that to date, 4 000 cattle, with an estimated value of $1,5 million, have succumbed to the disease, leaving farmers despondent.
Theileriosis is caused by not dipping cattle regularly and is transmitted by brown ticks.

January Disease Kills 4 000 Cattle In Buhera

A Buhera man was lured out of his bedroom by 4 men who then attacked him and killed him on the spot Daily News reports.
Muchemi Chinembiri was sleeping when people started shouting berejena outside his home and he went out to investigate only to be assaulted and be killed.
Manicaland Police Province Spokesperson Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the Incident:
<blockquote>Chinembiri decided to go out to investigate but was grabbed and dragged out from his bedroom door by four men who struck him all over the body with unknown objects.
His wife tried to call for help but was ordered to remain silent and stay in the bedroom</blockquote>

A family in Buhera took the time to narrate the story of how they are surviving the drought that has ravaged the country leaving more families surviving on 1 meal a day.
The situation according to the narrator has been exasperated by donors cutting the monetary aid they used to give the villagers.

Buhera district is facing severe water shortages with reports of young children collapsing as a result of dehydration and the elderly travelling lost distances to fetch the precious liquid.
For those fortunate enough to have boreholes and tanks on their homesteads, the wells have dried up due to a combination of continuous abstraction and a receding water table.
<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Buhera_District" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Buhera Rural District</a> Council chief executive officer Emily Chibvongodze spoke to Manica Post about the water situation. She said
<blockquote>We have a population of about 280 300 people against 1306 water points. Normally each water point should serve about 250 people. The imbalance makes our situation dire. We have areas without boreholes and people walk long distances to access water.</blockquote>
The district is the aridest in <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Manicaland_Province" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Manicaland province</a> as it receives rainfall below 500mm per year.
During the summer season, maximum temperatures range between 30 to 40 degrees Celsius which further stresses the available moisture.

Buhera District Faces Severe Water Shortages

Families in Buhera <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Manicaland_Province">Manicaland</a> have narrated how they are surviving amid a drought so dire due to the effects of El Nino experienced during the past rainy season among other reasons. Families that spoke to News24 said:
<blockquote>During the day we have wild fruit collected by the children, and at night we have smaller portions of sadza with vegetables, We have reduced our food portions so that its enough for everyone.</blockquote>
Another family said:
<blockquote>People buy the mesh wire for fencing, and we make a small profit. I sometimes exchange the fences with food,</blockquote>
The WFP country director has said “Zimbabwe is more hungry than ever” , over 5 million people in Zimbabwe’s 60 districts will have depleted their maize stocks by October, the WFP has been handing out food parcels – cooking oil and porridge for children under five – and US$8 in cash per month for every family member.

A Family Narrates Hunger Stories To News24

President Mnangagwa is reported to have dispatched two graders to clear the road leading to the late former prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s homestead. It is alleged that Mnangagwa also pledged to provide food for more than 5 000 people expected to attend Tsvangirai’s memorial service tomorrow in Humanikwa village, in Buhera.
Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa confirmed the reports but could not get into the details of everything the president offered the Tsvangirai family. She said:
<blockquote>I do not have the actual detail of what has been given to the Tsvangirai family but what is critical is that President Mnangagwa will continue supporting the family because Mr Tsvangirai worked well with us as Government when he was Prime Minister during the inclusive government. It is also in the spirit of oneness that President Mnangagwa is showing this gesture. You might also need to know that the Tsvangirai family invited President Mnangagwa to the memorial service and obviously he will respond appropriately just as he did during the funeral wake when he sent me and Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri to represent him.</blockquote>

The family of the late former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has called upon the members of the public who wish to attend the memorial service in honour of the trade unionist to avoid wearing political party regalia.
In an interview with NewZimbabwe from the family home in Strathaven, Tsvangirai’s young brother Manase Tsvangirai said:
<blockquote>This is not a political event but a memorial service for a politician who dedicated his life to bring democratic change in the country.
Everyone is invited, we are not leaving anyone from across the political divide.
The other thing we would like to highlight is that we hope and believe that people who are coming for this memorial, should not be seen wearing any political parties’ regalia. Instead, we expect people to be wearing the regalia of the late Morgan Tsvangirai.
This is a memorial and we expect people to respect this family decision by putting branded t-shirts with his face only. This is our wish as a family as a measure of respect to the late Tsvangirai whom everybody called their icon.</blockquote>
Tsvangirai passed away on Valentine’s Day last year while being treated for cancer in a South African hospital.
The memorial service is to be held on May 4 in Humanikwa Village, Buhera District, Manicaland Province where Tsvangirai is buried.

No Party Regalia At Tsvangirai Memorial

The date for the late MDC founding president Morgan Tsvangirai’s memorial service has been moved forward to 4 May 2019.
The change of date was revealed by Tsvangirai’s daughter Vimbayi Tsvangirai Java. She said the service will be conducted at Humanikwa village in Buhera district. Said Tsvangirayi Java:
<blockquote>The Tsvangirai family advises that arrangements for the memorial service for the late Dr Tsvangirai are currently underway and will now be held on 4 May 2019, at Humanikwa Village, Buhera. Thank you to all stakeholders and friends for your patience.</blockquote>
Tsvangirai’s memorial service was originally set to be held on February 14 this year, marking exactly a year since the veteran politician passed away. He died on 14 February 2018 while admitted to a South African hospital after a long battle with cancer.

Tsvangirai's Memorial Service To Be Held On May 4 At Humanikwa Village, Buhera

President Emmerson Mnangagwa and MDC-T president Thokozani Khupe have both been invited to the memorial service of the late founding president of the MDC, Morgan Tsvangirai.
The service is set to be held in February next year, on Valentine’s Day. Tsvangirai died on Valentine’s Day in 2018 after a long struggle with colon cancer. He was buried at his village of origin (Humanikwa), Buhera district, Manicaland province.
Tsvangirai’s brother, Manase had this to say
<blockquote>The idea of having the family leading the process is to make sure nobody tries to hijack the programme to get mileage. We want to avoid the chaos that characterised the funeral. A lot of people did not get the chance to mourn Tsvangirai, and we want to avoid that scenario.
We have written to the government, officially inviting the President [Mnangagwa] and it’s true we have invited Khupe and all other political formations, as well as civil society organisations. This is going to be a big programme and everyone is invited.</blockquote>
Manase said his brother was a selfless man who put the interests of the country first.
<blockquote>Here is a man who was willing to forgo his personal wishes for the good of the country. That is leadership, and we should open up his memorial to all. He united the country around the cause of the motherland. That was Morgan for you, and all are invited.
We have gone out of our way to make sure that the security of all is assured.</blockquote>

Tsvangirai Family Invites Mnangagwa, Khupe To Attend Late MDC President's Memorial Service

Tragedy struck the Zvavahera family, of Zvavahera village, under Chief Nyashanu, in Buhera when a lone hyena attacked and killed six-year-old, Elisha Zvavahera. Elisha was playing with 10 other children while the parents were listening to the 8 o’clock news when the hyena pounced. His mutilated body was discovered the following morning. Relating the attack, Elisha’s father said,
<blockquote>His bones were weak since childhood and he could not walk or run normally and when other children noticed the hyena and rushed for cover, Elisha lagged behind and fell prey. This is the worst catastrophe to affect the family. We later noticed that as the children played outside, the hyenas were by the kraal. They were running towards the kraals, and that is how and where Elisha was snatched…His body was discovered along the river around 8 am the following morning, and the sight was horrible. His stomach had been ripped open and the intestines were all over the scene. His legs had been gnawed and the head had been pierced. He had two deep cuts on both ears, suggesting that is the area the animal sank its canines and dragged him. It was a scary view; I had to draw all my courage as the father to put the ripped body together. This is the work of the devil.</blockquote>
Rangers from the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) managed to trap and eliminate the hyena.

Hyena Snatches And Kills Six Year Old In Buhera

Edward Manyonda of Zanu-PF won the local government by-election for Buhera Ward 2 over the weekend. He defeated Independent candidate Isaac Sithole.  Manyonda  polled 717 votes which were enough to see him comfortably beat Sithole’s 464 votes. Manyonda is now the duly elected representative for Buhera Rural District Council local government seat Ward 2.
The seat fell vacant after the death of Councillor Maximillan Bere.

<a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Grace_Mugabe">Grace Mugabe</a> addressed her first nationwide rally in Buhera today. The rally was held at St Johns Secondary school and Zanu PF elite such as <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Mandi_Chimene">Mandi Chimene</a>, Edna Madzongwe, <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Saviour_Kasukuwere">Saviour Kasukuwere</a>, Joseph Chinotimba, <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Samuel_Undenge">Samuel</a> and Letina Undenge, <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Kudzai_Chipanga">Kudzanai Chipanga</a>, Joseph Made and Buhera North MP William Mutomba were in attendance. Here is a summary of 10 key points in her address:

<li>The first lady still has a score to settle with former Vice President and current Zimbabwe People First leader Joice Mujuru who she referred to as Queen Bee and insinuated that Mujuru sleeps around when she gave a vivid and graphic description of bees’ mating behaviour. However the term Queen Bee refers to a woman who has authority or is in a dominant or favored position over her peers not what Mugabe and Mujuru have taken it to mean. 
</li>
<li>She advised Mujuru to go and spend time with her grandchildren. She also sold the idea that the cash crisis was a result of externalisation of foreign currency and said that the bond notes were introduced to counter that. She made a subliminal reference to Jacob Zuma’s inability to read membership numbers during the ANC’s National General Council in 2015.</li>
<li>The rallies are a preparation for the 2018 election since Mugabe said that they do not want to come to the people when it is election time.</li>
<li>She said that President Robert Mugabe would have forgiven Mujuru if she had asked for forgiveness giving an analogy of how God forgave those that crucified Jesus Christ.</li>
<li>Grace Mugabe said that she is Zanu PF’s referee and promised that she will not hesitate to blow the whistle on wrongdoers.</li>
<li>She admitted that Zanu PF has factions and said that even though the party was a brand like NetOne, they risk losing in the 2018 election if people pursue personal interests. She said that there were politicians who were paying or threatening journalists to write articles denigrating the President.</li>
<li>Mugabe said that she will not advise her husband to retire because the people voted for him. She also said that one day they will field a corpse of Robert Mugabe and still win an election because people love him. She encouraged people to wait on God to decide the end of Mugabe’s reign and reiterated that the position of President was not vacant.</li>
<li>She urged Ministers not to embarrass Mugabe by being corrupt and urged them to be content with what they have and not be covetous.</li>
<li>She blamed the closure of factories on people who import goods outside. Mugabe said that people who are rich never started big and gave an example of a businessperson from Singapore. She urged people to be patient. She said that things were tough for her saying that at times she feels like closing her dairy farm but does not because of the number people she employs.</li>
<li>Part of the items that she gave people in Buhera was confiscated from crossborder traders at Zimbabwe’s borders by Zimra.</li>
