Real Madrid Football Club has announced the termination of captain Karim Benzema’s contract by mutual agreement. In an official statement seen by Pindula News, the La Liga giants described the French international as “one of our greatest legends.”
Benzema joined our club in 2009 at the age of 21 and has been a fundamental player in this golden age of the club’s history. Benzema has won 25 titles during the fourteen seasons, a record number for any Real Madrid player. The club said:

Real Madrid Announce The Termination Of Karim Benzema's Contract

Real Madrid Football Club has confirmed that Eden Hazard, one of the Premier League’s biggest stars, will leave the club this month after reaching an agreement to terminate his contract a year early. The 32-year-old Belgian joined Madrid from Chelsea in July 2019, signing a five-year deal worth an initial €100 million. However, his four seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu have been plagued by persistent injury problems, with just six La Liga appearances this season, four of them as a substitute, and no goals scored.
In a statement released on Saturday, Real Madrid announced that they have reached an agreement with Hazard to release him from the club as of June 30, 2023. The statement, seen by Pindula News, also expressed the club’s affection for Hazard and wished him and his family the best of luck in his new period. Reads the statement:

Hazard’s injury problems began during his first season in Madrid, with an ankle fracture requiring surgery and the insertion of a metal plate, causing further problems that led to its removal two years later.
As a result, Hazard never recovered his form and fitness, and his preferred left-wing position was occupied by rising star Vinicius Junior. He retired from international football in December 2022 after Belgium’s group-stage exit at the World Cup. A month earlier, Hazard had apologised to Real Madrid fans in an interview with the newspaper Marca, rating his impact on the field as “zero” and saying he would accept a move this summer.

Real Madrid Confirms Eden Hazard's Early Contract Termination

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has named Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker and Ederson as the three players who were incredible in the semi-final first leg of the Uefa Champions League match against Real Madrid played at Bernabeu last night.
The Belgian scored the equaliser for City after Vinicius Junior opened the scoring for the hosts and defending European champions at the Santiago Bernabeu.
De Bruyne’s 67th-minute strike from the edge of the box proved enough to earn a draw for City with the tie now set to be decided at the Etihad Stadium next Wednesday.
With three shots on target in total and 25 successful passes, City’s No.17 was named Man of the Match by UEFA.
Speaking in his press conference after the game, Guardiola was quick to praise his midfield maestro.

Champions League: Guardiola Names 3 City Players Incredible Against Madrid

Former Real Madrid, Germany and Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil, has announced his immediate retirement at the age of 34 citing injuries.
The World Cup Winner wrote on Instagram saying that it was becoming “more and more clear that it’s time to leave the big stage of football”, with injuries playing a part in his decision.
Ozil’s final game came on February 2, when he was substituted at half-time during Istanbul Basaksehir’s 1-0 defeat at Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig. It was one of just two starts he made for the club after signing from Fenerbahce last summer.

Cristiano Junior, the son of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, is set to join the Mahd Academy in Saudi Arabia.

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has said signing Kylian Mbappe now makes no sense, according to <a href="https://www.managingmadrid.com/2022/10/18/23410531/florentino-perez-mbappe-quotes-2022">Managing Madrid</a>.
He made the remarks right after the conclusion of the Ballon d’Or ceremony where Karim Benzema won the prestigious award. Perez said:

Real Madrid Says Signing Mbappe Now Makes No Sense

UEFA has announced Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema as the winner of the Player of the Year while Carlo Ancellotti was named Coach of the Year for the previous season. Alexia Putellas won the Women’s Player of the Year.
The title brings Benzema one step closer to his expected triumph in the prestigious Ballon d’Or on Oct. 17. The Real Madrid forward was incredible last season, scoring 42 goals between La Liga and the Champions League, leading his club to a famous double.
The 34-year-old, who also helped France to UEFA Nations League success, held off competition from club-mate Thibaut Courtois and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
While, in past years, UEFA has also presented individual position-specific awards, with the Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender, Best Midfielder, and Best Forward, the football body said those awards have been scrapped. 
It is not immediately clear whether those awards have been eliminated permanently or just for this season.
Carlo Ancelotti led Real Madrid to the club’s record 14th Champions League crown en route to a domestic &amp; continental double.
Ancelotti is the only coach in history to have won four Champions League titles, twice with AC Milan and now twice with Real Madrid. He also previously won the competition twice as a player with AC Milan.
The awards were announced during the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stage draw in Istanbul.

Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale scored two goals to help Wales to a 2-1 win against Austria on Thursday.
Wales will now face Scotland or Ukraine in the playoff final to decide who qualifies for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Despite limited game time again at Real Madrid this season, the Welshman gave the football world a reminder of his ability with two goals from the top drawer.
The 32-year old’s first goal came from a free kick in the 25th minute.
Bale stepped up to strike the ball from 25 yards into the top corner of the Austrian net giving keeper Heinz Lindner no chance.
The second goal for Bale came in the 51st minute when the ball broke to him from a corner.
Ben Davies touched the ball to Bale in the box where he turned and hit the top corner again with another precision finish.

Gareth Bale Scores Brace To Help Wales Past Austria

Barcelona stunned Real Madrid in the last Clasico of the 2021/2022 season played on Sunday night to end a five-game El Classico losing streak.
Former Arsenal skipper, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice to continue his great streak since being signed in the final minutes of the winter transfer window. 
Ronald Araujo and Ferran Torres added a goal each to give Barcelona its seventh win in the last eight matches in all competitions.
The victory gave Barcelona title hopes in the Spanish league after a slow start to the season.
The result moved Barcelona within 12 points of league leader Madrid with nine rounds to go, and it could further cut the gap to nine points if it wins its game in hand against Rayo Vallecano.
Barcelona is level on points with fourth-place Atletico Madrid and is three points behind second-place Sevilla, which was held 0-0 at home against Real Sociedad earlier Sunday for its third straight draw in the league.
Madrid, which badly missed the injured Karim Benzema, was unbeaten in its last eight games in the league, with six wins. It had beaten its Catalan rival 2-1 at Camp Nou in their first league game last year.
It was Madrid’s first home loss in 24 league games, since losing to Levante in January 2021.
Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti did not replace Benzema with another striker, instead, he used Luka Modric in a false-nine position at the top of the attacking line along with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo. 
Madrid barely threatened, though, and Ancelotti had to change tactics in the second half by putting Mariano Diaz upfront, which also didn’t help much.

English teams that made it into the UEFA Champions League quarter finals were not paired against each other at the draw conducted Thursdsy.
All first legs of the stage will be played on the 6th of April while the second legs will be played on the 13th of the same month. 
Teams were paired as follows:
<blockquote>
1). Benfica v Liverpool
2). Villarreal vs Bayern Munich
3). Manchester City vs Atletico Madrid 
4). Chelsea v Real Madrid 
</blockquote>
Teams that would have succeeded will proceed to the semi finals slated for the 27th of April and the 4th of May. 
Finals are set to be held on the 28th of May.

UEFA Champions League Draw

Former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane, who quit the club last week, has revealed why he resigned.
The Frenchman handed his resignation after the team’s final game of the season against Villarreal and had been tight-lipped on the reasons behind his second departure from Los Blancos until now.
In an open letter to Madrid fans, as published by Spanish outlet AS, the 48-year-old said he left his post after feeling that club president Florentino Perez has lost faith in him. He wrote:
<blockquote>I have now decided to leave and I want to properly explain the reasons.
I’m going, but I’m not jumping overboard, nor am I tired of coaching. In May 2018 I left because after two and a half years, with so many victories and so many trophies, I felt the team needed a new approach to stay at the very highest level.
Right now, things are different. I’m leaving because I feel the club no longer has the faith in me I need, nor the support to build something in the medium or long term.
… I would have liked my relationship with the club and the president over the past few months to have been a little different to that of other coaches.
I wasn’t asking for privileges, of course not, just a little more recollection.
These days the life of a coach in the dugout at a big club is two seasons, little more. For it to last longer the human relationships are essential, they are more important than money, more important than fame, more important than everything.
They need to be nurtured. That’s why it hurt me so much when I read in the press, after a defeat, that I would be sacked if I didn’t win the next game.
It hurt me and the whole team because these deliberately leaked messages to the media negatively influenced the squad, they created doubts and misunderstandings.</blockquote>
Zidane won a total of eleven titles as Real Madrid head coach, but he failed to win a trophy in his last season.

Zidane Breaks Silence On Why He Quit Real Madrid

Toni Kroos opened the scoreline for Real Madrid in the return to the competition on Sunday night. Los Blancos was playing against Eibar in a match they eventually won 3-1.
Madrid got their goals from Toni Kroos 4′ Sergio Ramos 30′ and Marcelo Vieira 37′ while the visitors got their consolation goal from Pedro Bigas 60′. 

The Whites are currently two points behind log leaders and reigning champions, FC Barcelona who also won all the three points last night after beating Mallorca 4-0. FC Barca skipper, Lionel Messi was on target.
