The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_National_Parks_and_Wildlife_Authority" title="Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Authority">Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Authority (ZIMPARKS)</a> has reported that a German tourist who went missing in Matusadonha National Park on Saturday afternoon, around 3:30 p.m., has been found alive and well.
In a statement seen by Pindula News, ZIMPARKS spokesperson, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Tinashe_Farawo/">Tinashe Farawo</a> said:

A Germany tourist who had gone missing in Matusadonha National Park from Saturday afternoon has been found. He is alive and well. 
We were gravely worried. We are happy he is well. He says his car developed a mechanical fault. It’s a white car, so we were hopeful we would find it.

Andreas Hoberg, who went missing in <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Matusadona_National_Park/">Matusadona National Park</a>, was driving a white car. He did not return by 6 p.m., and the car rental company couldn’t find him using GPS tracking. Farawo said the area has poor phone network coverage.
Authorities used a helicopter, vehicles, and sniffer dogs to search the park, which is home to dangerous animals.

German Tourist Who Went Missing In Matusadonha National Park On Saturday Afternoon Found

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of three Bulawayo men for possession of a rhinoceros horn valued at US$120 000. Said the police in a statement:

The ZRP confirms the arrest of Mpumelelo Moyo (44), Bongani Akim Zwelibanzi Gazi and Mbonisi Ndlovu for possession of a specially protected animal trophy on 12/10/21.
The suspects were found with a rhinoceros horn measuring 20 centimetres and weighing about 6.5 kgs valued at US$ 120 000 in Southworld, Byo.

Poaching has been rampant for years in the country and perpetrators risk imprisonment.
<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Parks_%26_Wildlife_Management_Authority">The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management (ZIMPARKS)</a> last year Zimbabwe said poaching had drastically dropped from about 400 to 12-18 elephants lately. 
ZIMPARKS warned that anti-poachers would not hesitate to kill poachers found with firearms since they are also trying to kill the rangers.

Poachers Found With Rhino Horn Worth US$120 000

In a statement yesterday, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate, Ambassador Grace Mutandiro, said the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) board has been dissolved with immediate effect due to the “wayward conduct of some members of the board”.
Said Mutandiro:
<blockquote>The Minister of Environment, Water and Climate, Honourable O.C.Z Muchinguri-Kashiri, has, in terms of Section 6 of the 12th schedule of the Parks and Wildlife Amendment Act Number 19 of 2001, terminated the term of office of the Parks and Wildlife Management Authority Board with immediate effect.
The wayward conduct of some members of the board, which was characterised by a departure from playing an advisory role to that of usurping executive powers, ran counter to the good corporate governance principles that Government has adopted and is upholding.
Apart from playing a key role in the economy, the Parks and Wildlife Management Authority is also the custodian of Zimbabwe’s natural resources and it, therefore, behoves on the minister to ensure that at all times competent individuals with the requisite probity constitute its Board.</blockquote>
The board was chaired by Mr Tichafa Mundangepfupfu, who was deputised by Mrs Idah Mupamhanga. Other board members included Messrs Cephas Mudenda, Tafadzwa Mundoga, Neville Mutsvangwa, Dr Hesphina Rukato and Ms Dorothy Mabika. Mr Fulton Upenyu Mangwanya, who was appointed the new Zimpark’s director-general in August last year, was an ex-officio member of the board. A recent report from the Auditor-General’s Office indicated that the board members were allegedly abusing their authority to loan themselves funds, including using the Authority’s assets for personal use without Government approval.

Govt Dissolves Zimparks Board Due To Wayward Conduct

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority (Zimparks) has revealed that 13 people were killed by animals in the first quarter of 2017. The 13 deceased were killed by crocodiles and elephants in 138 cases of human –wildlife conflicts.
Acting Zimparks spokesperson Mr Simukai Nyasha said:
<blockquote>The first three months of 2017 saw 138 cases of human- wildlife conflict being reported. It is disheartening to note that human lives continue to be lost due to such conflicts which can be avoided.
At least 13 people were killed by crocodiles and elephants during that period while eight people were injured.
Most of these wild animals are harmless unless provoked hence members of the public must always call police or our office in cases of emergencies. They should also avoid bathing in deep water sources to keep safe from crocodiles</blockquote>
