Temba Mliswa, the outgoing independent Member of Parliament (MP) for Norton, has conceded his defeat to Richard Tsvangirai of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in the 2023 elections. In a message to his supporters, Mliswa expressed his acceptance of defeat and reassured them that he was not concerned about the outcome. He expressed gratitude to his team and stated that he would not have participated if he had anticipated defeat. Mliswa said he had hoped for re-election to continue his ongoing development projects. Zimbabwe 2023 Elections: Mliswa Concedes Defeat To CCC's Tsvangirai [Audio]

Norton MP Temba Mliswa (Independent), claims the constituency delimitation exercise by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) reduced ZANU PF’s support base in Norton.
ZANU PF Mashonaland West provincial Women’s League chairperson, Constance Shamu was elected the party’s candidate for Norton in upcoming elections during primary elections held last month.
Shamu will likely face Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC)’s Richard Tsvangirai.
Posting on Twitter recently, Presidential spokesperson, George Charamba, asserted that males who are contesting against aspiring female candidates must prepare for exit. Wrote Charamba:

This year is the year of the girl child. It is our chance to equalise. As such if you are a man and you find yourself standing against a woman, you should begin packing your bag in earnest, @TembaMliswa be warned.

In response, Mliswa claimed ZANU PF lost the little support it had in Norton due to the delimitation exercise. He said:

Hijacked platitudes about the girl child, awkwardly pasted on my female senior, won’t redeem your standing as a party in Norton.
ZANU PF cannot win there especially now that the two rural wards in which it had a veneer of control are gone due to delimitation.

Mliswa owes his incumbency to the MDC Alliance’s benevolence after the opposition party opted not to field a candidate in Norton in 2018.
The outspoken former ZANU PF Mashonaland West Provincial chairman defeated the ruling party’s candidate Christopher Mutsvangwa in 2018.

ZEC Delimitation Reduced ZANU PF's Support In Norton - Mliswa

Norton Member of Parliament (MP), <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Temba_Mliswa">Temba Mliswa</a>, has said the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) must tell <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/zanu-pf-mp-justice-mayor-wadyajena-arrested/">where the US$5 million went</a> if the authority does not have evidence against his Gokwe-Nembuya counterpart, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Justice_Mayor_Wadyajena">Justice Mayor Wadyajena</a>.
Mliswa’s remarks come barely days after Wadyajena (ZANU PF) was <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/wadyajena-cottco-managers-removed-from-remand/">acquitted in a fraud case</a> in which he was being accused of embezzling COTTCO funds meant for acquiring bale cables and buying trucks.
Wadyajena was jointly charged with COTTCO bosses Pius Manamike, Maxmore Njanji, Chiedza Danha and Fortunate Molai. 
In a series of Twitter posts seen by Pindula News, Mliswa said the money cannot just vanish. We present the posts below:

If the NPA says there is no evidence against Wadyajena in the US$5 million case, so where did the money go? At least someone should be accountable for that huge amount of money going missing. It cannot vanish into thin air as if from some backwater entity.
Even as Chairperson of the Agriculture Portfolio Committee Wadyajena kept doing business with Cottco. Its something that he should have declared and renunciated his position in any business with it. The fact that he didn’t reveals the compromised nature of his person.
Now the case has political angles with ZACC Commissioner Makamure being targeted as the instigator of Wadyajena’s arrest, allegedly to advance his own political ambitions. That’s a fallacy. It’s not Makamure who arrested Wadyajena but @ZACConline.
Makamure has never harboured any ambitions to be a legislator and he made a name and money a long time ago. That he even got into ZACC is out of respect for the President. He didn’t need the position, the same way Doug Munatsi got into ZIDA of respect not need.
His organisation, @SAPST has always worked with Parliament and it is contrived nonsense that he was working with the Americans. How did the CIO miss that when they vetted the organisation or him? Makamure is an upstanding citizen who is surely regretting working for the Gvt.
It’s very unfortunate when upstanding citizens are dragged into the mud like this by dirty politicians using the power of money to capture the courts and the media. We now know that many criminals are joining @ZANUPF_Official because they want to be protected. It’s a shame.
Ultimately such decisions and actions are an egg to the face of the ruling party. It shows all the talk about fighting against corruption is empty. How do you convince us that you are serious about fighting corruption when such cases flounder?
Why not just give ZACC a certificate to prosecute its own cases if you are serious? They have been asking for it but Gvt is refusing yet the NPA is consistently failing to get convictions. How do you win 4 cases out of 180 dockets&amp; maintain a straight face?
We can’t have a country where the system is only effective in persecuting those who speak out but redundant on progressive issues. Hon Sikhala is there languishing in remand, I have suffered the same with Chihuri but every dog has its day. Seasons pass and the weather changes.
Nobody is convinced that Gvt will effectively deal with corruption. It has only become efficient against those who truly stand up for the people. Biti, Sikhala, myself and many others, we see it. Asi ushe madzoro. That’s a timeous prophecy that requires no invocation to manifest.
We saw those who abused their offices and the law under Mugabe. Where are they now? Politicians still fail to learn and appreciate this epic dictate of life. What goes around comes around. To be safe just do the right things when you have the power.

"If There's No Evidence Against Wadyajena, Where Did The US$5 million Go?" - Mliswa

Shepherd Tsomondo, a former liberation war fighter, has been laid to rest, with speakers describing him as a disciplined cadre who should be emulated by others.
Tsomondo who was declared a Provincial hero succumbed to renal failure on Monday last week at the age of 64 and was buried in Norton last Friday with full military honours.
ZANU PF Mashonaland West provincial War Veterans League chairman <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Happison_Muchechetere">Happison Muchechetere</a> urged party members and supporters to emulate Tsomondo’s life, and promote political tolerance ahead of 2023 harmonised elections. 
Muchechetere encouraged Zimbabweans to desist from violence and urged them to focus on rebuilding the nation towards attaining Vision 2030 of an empowered upper-middle-income society.
Speaking at the burial, Tsomondo’s wife, Bybit Tsomondo, said she was only 16 when she met him in 1978. She added:

 …up to the time of his death, we had a good understanding of each other (even as) people always wonder whether or not war veterans can marry each other and live in harmony. 
When we came from the war, we did not beat any one; as war veterans, we were taught discipline and if you want to win the people, you should shun violence.

Tsomondo is survived by his wife, five children and eight grandchildren.

Former Liberation War Fighter Shepherd Tsomondo Buried

A 62-year-old woman has been arrested in Darwendale on allegations of killing her 81-year-old husband on Sunday following a fight over allegations of infidelity.
Mary Banda is alleged to have fought with her husband Nira Benet (81) who was confirmed dead on arrival at Father O’Hea Hospital from breathing disorders.
A report was made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) leading to the arrest of Banda.
Banda and Benet had been fighting when Benet developed challenges in breathing and was rushed to Father O’Hea Hospital, The Herald reported citing National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi. 
He was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police in Kadoma have arrested three wanted persons, Darlington Daniel Mawuta Pichesi (18), Richard Pichesi (18) and Clifford Stanford Chibhutu in connection with a case of robbery and two cases of theft which occurred in Kadoma in August 2022.
Investigations by the Police linked the suspects to another case of theft, where they stole two solar panels in Kadoma in November 2022. 
Meanwhile, police in Bulawayo arrested Thulani Banda (30) on Sunday for a robbery in which he and an accomplice, still at large, robbed a taxi driver of a Honda Fit vehicle, a cellphone and US$100 cash at Nhliziyo Shopping Centre, Entumbane.
Police recovered the stolen vehicle from Banda. 
In another case, police arrested Tinashe Joram (32) for stealing a motor vehicle in Norton on Sunday at about 11 am. The suspect stole a Toyota Corolla vehicle (ABX 4962) which was left unattended by the complainant with the keys in the ignition.

A 62-year-old Woman Arrested For Killing Her 81-year-old Husband

Norton Member of Parliament (Independent), <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Temba_Mliswa">Temba Mliswa</a>, has proposed that eligible voters who choose not to vote must be penalised.
He made the remarks in an interview with a local radio station, ZiFM.
Mliswa, a former member of the ruling ZANU PF, said the government would have used the taxpayers’ money to ensure that the electorate is registered therefore choosing not to vote after successfully registering should be punishable.
Zimbabwe is gearing up for the harmonised elections scheduled for 2023. 
Political analysts say the electorate, especially members of the opposition, has been disillusioned by ZANU PF’s prolonged stay in power despite their voting for its removal in previous elections.
Some members of the opposition allege that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission connives with ZANU PF to manipulate electoral processes in favour of the ruling party making it folly to participate in electoral processes.
Meanwhile, there has been a bevvy of organisations mobilising the citizenry to register to vote and vote in the upcoming elections.

Mliswa Says Eligible Voters Who Are Not Voting Must Be Penalised

Zimbabwean comedienne <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Madam_Boss">Tarisai Cleopatra Chikocho</a> also called <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Madam_Boss">Tyra Chikocho</a> who is popularly known as <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Madam_Boss">Madam Boss</a>, has narrated what transpired on Saturday 21 October 2022 when she was involved in <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/madam-boss-hospitalised-after-accident-on-her-way-to-makhadzi-show/">an accident a few kilometres outside Norton.</a>
Chikocho, in the company of her friends, was on her way to a concert in Kadoma that was headlined by South African musician Makhadzi. In a statement seen by Pindula News, Madam Boss expressed gratitude to a motorist who came and pulled her out of the car. She said:

Madam Boss Narrates The Accident, Thanks Stranger Who Pulled Her Out Of The Car

The Grade 7 pupil from Katanga, Norton, a small town in Mashonaland West Province, who died while giving birth in Bikita on 04 October, was buried in Mt Darwin on Thursday.
Nokutenda Hwaramba’s body was ferried from Bikita to Mt Darwin on Wednesday and laid to rest on the following day.
Her father, Bernard Hwaramba, told <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/norton-teen-laid-to-rest/">H-Metro</a> that they will release the details related to the circumstances which led to his 15-year-old daughter’s death in due course. He said:

We have laid Nokutenda to rest. We saw it best to lay her to rest early since we spent the night travelling.
Details surrounding her death will be released later since we are still mourning her.
Nokutenda died on Tuesday at an apostolic church shrine while giving birth.
</blockquote>
She had been taken to the shrine by her father for prayers as their church doctrine does not allow them to seek medical help at hospitals.
Some Katanga residents had threatened to beat up Bernard, and his church members, accusing them of causing the death of Nokutenda.
Speaking to H-Metro on Wednesday, Nokutenda’s mother, Loice Muparadziwo, said her daughter was impregnated by one of their neighbours, one Aaron. She said:

Nokutenda was said to have been impregnated by one Aaron from our neighbourhood.
She got sick and would just fall down as if possessed by evil spirits.
Her father consulted prophets from his congregation and later took her to Bikita for more prayers.
He left Nokutenda in the hands of the intercessors and she died while giving birth at the shrine.
The church doctrine did not allow us to take Nokutenda to a clinic, or hospital, to give birth or for any medical treatment.
I failed to accompany them to Bikita because I was also due to deliver and I had a miscarriage at Norton General Hospital on the day Nokutenda passed away.
</blockquote>
Nokutenda’s death echoes the death of 14-year-old Anna Machaya who died while giving birth in Marange in July 2021 and that of 15-year-old Ferby Munyafi of Chiadzwa Village in Marange who died in January 2022 from excessive bleeding while delivering.
Hatirarami Momberume alias Evans Michael Momberume, a devotee of the Johane Marange apostolic sect has been charged with Anna’s murder.
Anna’s parents, Edmore Machaya (45) and Shy Mabika (36) were jailed for nine months each – wholly suspended – for lying to detectives about her age.
Ferby died on 12 January 2022 and police charged her “husband” 29-year-old Arthur Chitombo with having sexual relations with a minor.

Girl (15) Who Died While Giving Birth At Church Shrine Buried

A 15-year-old girl from Norton died at an apostolic sect shrine on Tuesday 04 October 2022 in Bikita giving birth, her family said.
Nokutenda Hwaramba died together with her baby, at a shrine, where she was being cared for by unidentified prophets H-Metro reported.
Nokutenda’s mother Loice Muparadziwo said she could not be with her daughter in her final moments as she herself was hospitalised in Norton where she suffered a miscarriage. Muparadziwo told <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/shock-and-outrage-grade-7-pupil-dies-while-giving-birth-tragedy-leaves-norton-residents-shell-shocked/">H-Metro</a>:

Muparadziwo said Nokutenda was impregnated by a man identified only as Aaron, who was a neighbour in Norton. Aaron reportedly vanished when Nokutenda’s pregnancy came to light.
Nokutenda’s death brings back memories of the death of 14-year-old Anna Machaya who died in July 2021 while giving birth in Marange.
There is also a 15-year-old Ferby Munyafi of Chiadzwa Village in Marange who died in January 2022 from excessive bleeding while delivering under the watch of a faith healer.

Grade 7 Learner From Norton Dies While Giving Birth At Church Shrine

Four members of the same family died in a road accident that occurred on Friday 30 September 2022 in Norton.
A police statement seen by Pindula News says they died on the spot after a Land Rover Defender vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and overturned before landing on its wheels. Reads the report:

The ZRP reports a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 30/09/22 at around 1130 hours at the 7.5 km peg along Skyline Road, Norton. Four family members died on the spot when a Land Rover Defender vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and overturned before landing on its wheels.
</blockquote>
In another road traffic accident, three foreign nationals died when a Volvo XC90 vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road before landing in a ditch. 
The accident also occurred on the 30th of September at around 1430 hours at the 170 km peg along Masvingo-Beitbridge Road.
The driver and one passenger died on the spot whilst the other passenger died upon admission at a local private hospital.

Four Family Members Die In A Road Accident In Norton

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Kutama_College">Kutama College</a> in Zvimba which has channelled prominent Zimbabweans including the late former president, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Robert_Mugabe">Robert Mugabe</a> caught fire on Monday morning.
<a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/2-kutama-learners-in-heroic-battle-after-hostel-blaze/">The Herald</a> reports that the fire started in the television room around 2 am.
The state-run publication further reports that two Form 3 learners at the school, Takudzwa Machuwe and Kapfumvute Mwamba, rescued 185 learners after their hostel caught fire.
The duo is said to have initially tried and failed to extinguish the fire before they quickly sought the support of others.
Another Form 3 learner was sent to the headmaster’s residence to alert him of the disaster at the school, while Takudzwa and Kapfumvute began the rescue mission.  
In separate interviews with <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/2-kutama-learners-in-heroic-battle-after-hostel-blaze/">The Herald</a> on Monday, Takudzwa and Kapfumvute said they evacuated all the Form 2s unhurt, but could not retrieve any of the learners’ belongings. Said Takudzwa:

I was awakened by some of the Form 2 students around 2am telling me of a fire that was in the television room.
We tried to put out the fire, but failed. One of the captains that we share the responsibility of taking care of these students with, rushed to alert the headmaster at his residence.

Kapfumvute said they had a hard time stopping learners from trying to get back into the hostel to collect their smartphones and laptops.  
A fire tender from <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Norton">Norton Town Council</a> responded to the call but did little to save the situation.  
By yesterday afternoon, most of the students had been taken home by their parents and guardians to recover from the shock of almost losing lives.
The school was constructed in 1914 and is a stone’s throw away from the homestead of the late former president, Robert Mugabe.

Finance and Economic Development Minister, Professor <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Mthuli_Ncube">Mthuli Ncube</a> has professed ignorance over Rusununguko/Nkululeko Holdings, a military-linked company currently implicated in several corruption scandals.
This comes after Independent <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Norton">Norton</a> legislator, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Temba_Mliswa">Temba Mliswa</a> accused the Defence Ministry and ruling ZANU PF elites of using the company to plunder national resources. The allegations resulted in Mliswa being ejected from Parliament.
Mliswa, a former ZANU PF legislator, questioned the company’s partnership with the Chinese, demanding accountability from the company.
On Tuesday, Ncube said he was not aware of the Rusununguko company. <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/minister-displays-ignorance-over-army-linked-company/">NewZimbabwe.com</a> cites him as saying:

From Honourable T Mliswa, the issue of the war veterans company that you have raised; again, that is exactly what I have just addressed, that we have given them assets in mining, agriculture, tourism, real estate, financial services and there is a group of companies that is run by a board.
I do not have any accounts from Nkululeko/Rusununguko Companies within the defence forces. I will make a request to see those. I have no idea as to how much they are making and how profitable it is.

Mliswa had <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/mliswa-claims-army-zanu-pf-are-abusing-rusununguko-holdings-to-steal-resources/">demanded the disclosure of Rusununguko company’s operations</a> for transparency on the profits the military company is generating from its ventures.
Rusununguko is believed to be owned by the military and has vast interests in agriculture and mining.
Defence Minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Oppah_Muchinguri">Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri</a> last week said Rusununguko was a private company which does not benefit from government budgetary allocations.
The company has been involved in several disputes over the past years. In the latest case, the company was dragged to court by an Oman-based businessman on allegations of seizing his four upmarket houses.

Finance Minister Says He Doesn't Know Army-linked Rusununguko Holdings

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is seeking the relatives of a man who was allegedly killed by a mob on Monday for stealing two cell phones.
In a statement, police said the body of the deceased is currently at Norton Hospital. Reads the statement:

The ZRP is appealing for information which may assist to locate the relatives of a man identified as Tapiwa Moyo (40) who died on 11/07/22 in Norton after he was attacked by a mob for allegedly breaking into a house in Katanga before stealing two cellphones.

In a different case, ZRP Lupane Traffic arrested a pharmacist, Tafadzwa Mudyiwevhu (41) on the 12th of July 2022 for theft of 1 296 family planning pills at Victoria Falls Hospital. The pills were recovered stashed in a Harare-bound bus at a roadblock along Bulawayo- Victoria Falls Road at 120 km peg.

Cellphone Thief Dies After Being Assaulted By A Mob

Norton Town Council (NTC) plans to approach the government for more land for residential stands to meet demand from its ballooning population.
Speaking to NewZimbabwe.com recently, NTC acting town secretary, Blessing Mutyambizi said the town has a population of at least 68 000 people with many failing to acquire residential stands. Said Mutyambizi:

We are currently finalising our urban master plan which will enable us to approach relevant authorities in anticipation to unlock more land for our population.
Our hope is that the authorities may be able to hand over the nearby farms for housing development.
As it stands we can’t expand beyond the set boundaries because the town has run out of land for expansion.

He also said the local authority’s housing department was building vending sites for informal traders to operate from. Added Mutyambizi:

We have got a market stall which we are constructing to comply with social distancing and other COVID-19 protocols. We are anticipating that each should accommodate 40.
It’s not enough given the levels of need but it’s a good start. So this year alone we are anticipating building four of those vendor stalls plus public toilets.

Norton Runs Out Land For Residential Stands

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Norton">Norton</a> legislator (Independent) <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Temba_Mliswa">Temba Mliswa</a> has bemoaned the deterioration of the democratic space in Zimbabwe saying one can be victimised and labelled an enemy of the state for merely executing his or her own duties. He says he has been under attack for calling for the investigation of “corrupt” Local Government and Public Works Minister, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/July_Moyo">July Moyo.</a> Pindula News presents a series of messages which Mliswa posted on Twitter this Monday:

 It is disturbing to note that our democracy has become corrupted to an extent where by simply carrying out one’s duty, you can be termed an enemy of the state and Gvt. This bastardisation extends to the creation of false standards for patriotism and heroes.
We now have patriotism privately framed and delivered for everyone to either fit into its rigidly skewed frame or be termed a sellout. Its shaped according to the convenient and partisan agendas of a select few and not the national vision which benefits the whole country. As a legislator, it’s my duty to hold the Executive to account. It’s both constitutionally provided for and practically a necessity. How, after all, can one tier of Gvt seek to operate unilaterally without accounting to anyone?
However, when I find myself under attack for raising issues of accountability and transparency, as my role as a legislator requires, it becomes apparent that we have very corrupt players among us. July Moyo has been on a rampage with myriad acts of corruption&amp; Gvt has not said anything. Instead, in the instances they have said anything it has been to defend some really shocking agreements. Who can support the shocking terms and conditions of the Pomona deal?
Moyo has been loitering around Councils, forcing shady deals on the councilors&amp; using Cabinet muscle to pass through corrupt deals. He doesn’t attend Parliament where he is required to answer questions but is always hounding councils with a baggage of corrupt deals.
When we raise these issues, it’s us who become enemies of progress. How is that? Is it a lie that Moyo is an Executive appointment? Where is the insult in asking the responsible authority to act on its problem child?
The whole battalion of Gvt&amp; party communication has failed to explain the justification for such an agreement and instead ignores these shenanigans, choosing to parrot staid saboteur rhetoric when people complain. We are our own saboteurs as a nation.
Why isn’t Gvt releasing an exhaustive statement about this issue? This, so that we know whether its July Moyo’s baby or it’s a whole cartel in Gvt. By being quiet we now suspect it’s a cartel. Everyone else becomes guilty by association!
There are 3 arms of Gvt for a specific reason. To hold each other to account. The problem is that we now have leaders who have fashioned political carriers out of bootlicking &amp; feel that when you raise an issue with a Gvt arm/office, you are insulting or attacking leaders.
The office of the President should be held to account. That is constitutionally provided for and is very legal. You cannot gaslight people into doubting their roles by accusing them of insulting the President because they have questioned certain actions and inactions!
Some weak politicians think staying in their cocoons, bootlicking through inaction and ignoring present national dangers, is the safest path to maintaining their positions and benefits. However, not all of us are keen for that shameful path!

By Simply Carrying Out Your Duty, You Can Be Termed An Enemy Of The State - Mliswa

Norton Member of Parliament, Temba Mliswa (Independent), has pleaded with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, who is Acting President, to deploy soldiers in Norton with shoot to kill orders to deal with marauding machete gangs (MaShurugwi).
Mliswa claimed that Norton is becoming a no-go area as residents are being attacked and killed by machete gangsters, with the police apparently unable to deal with the criminals. Said Mliswa:

The Army must get into Norton to avert further loss of lives. We have said this before.
Norton is becoming a no-go area as the ZRP has been overpowered by makorokoza.
Now we don’t know whether they are part of the syndicate or not in light of their poor salaries.
Residents are dying and getting attacked. We cannot have political battles where people are killed.

Mliswa also claimed that the machete gangs are controlled by former State Security Minister Owen “Mudha” Ncube. He said:

This is the work of Mudha and his gangs. He captures police at the highest level so that nothing happens to his minions.
No one votes for a Gvt that cannot protect its people. If they think this is to target me then they are wrong.
The blood of the people will speak out. They did the same in Kwekwe and the killers of that CCC guy are still free.
… My appeal to Vice President Chiwenga, who is the Acting President, is to deploy soldiers who will shoot to kill. This is unacceptable.

Mliswa Calls For Military Deployment To Tame MaShurugwi Menace In Norton

A 49-year-old motorist travelling to Norton was on Tuesday 16 April, robbed of his vehicle and other belongings by two men he had offered a lift.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the motorist offered a lift to two unknown men who posed as genuine transport seekers who purportedly intended to travel to Norton, a town in Mashonaland West Province, about 40km from Harare. ZRP said in a statement:

The complainant offered a lift to the duo who posed as genuine transport seekers destined for Norton, at the Whitehouse bus stop.
Along the way, the suspects attacked the complainant and took away his valuables before dumping him on the roadside.

The police said the assailants robbed their victim of his Mazda Premacy vehicle (ACY 5103), US$100 cash, a WI-FI router, Huawei Y5 cellphone, and a DSTV LNB.
The robbery incident occurred at the 24km peg along Harare-Bulawayo Road.

Motorist Robbed Of A Mazda Premacy, Cash By "Passengers"

ZANU PF Mashonaland West youth league elections in Chinhoyi degenerated into chaos as party youths traded blows and threatened to kill each on Sunday.
The elections, which had to be abandoned because of the violence, were to select candidates that will represent the province at next week’s crunch youth league conference.
The riotous situation saw ZANU PF Chinhoyi district chairman Job Mavata, locking the door to prevent his rivals from accessing the command centre where election results were being announced.
He threatened to beat the elections supervisor, provincial affairs minister Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, who doubles as Zanu PF provincial chairperson.
Provincial youth league chairman, Tapiwa Masenda was also targeted for victimisation.
By the time the situation turned violent, polls to elect representatives for Chegutu and Kadoma were yet to be conducted.
Masenda confirmed the skirmishes when contacted by NewZimbabwe.com for comment. He said:

Yes, there was commotion caused by one or two unruly elements. You would appreciate that even during elections to choose a village head, things can get heated. This was an election just like any other poll where tempers will be running high. Nonetheless, districts, specifically Chegutu and Kadoma, yet to choose their youth representatives will do so during polls to be held tomorrow (Tuesday).

Results of elections that were conducted:

Elections to choose Chegutu and Kadoma youth representatives who will attend and cast ballots at the National Youth Conference that kicks off on May 4 are pending.
The polls were initially scheduled for Norton, but were later set for Zanu PF provincial offices in Chinhoyi, a move designed to manage skirmishes that could disrupt the polls again.

ZANU PF Abandons Elections As Youths Become Violent

One person was killed while 22 others were injured when an Inter-Africa bus overturned at Karina in Norton on Tuesday morning.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the bus was travelling from Murombedzi to Harare with 58 passengers on board.
Asst Comm Nyathi told NewsDay that preliminary investigations indicated that the bus overturned as the driver tried to avoid hitting a Honda Fit car that encroached onto his lane. He said:

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has ordered Zimplats to stop evicting hundreds of former mineworkers from company houses in Chegutu and Norton they have been occupying for many years.
The majority of the workers used to work for the Broken Hill Proprietary (BHP) Minerals Zimbabwe (Pvt) (Ltd) before it collapsed in 1999.
After taking over following the collapse of BHP, Zimplats had threatened to evict the former workers from the houses they are occupying.
Speaking in Chegutu last Friday during the ZANU PF rally ahead of the 26 March by-elections, Mnangagwa ordered Zimplats to stop the evictions. He said:

I have been informed by the provincial chairman (Cde) Mary Mliswa-Chikoka and (Chegutu West) Member of Parliament, Cde Dexter Nduna that some companies, including those that are into mining, are seeking to evict the former workers. This should stop! You are not going to evict the occupants and this cannot be argued.
I’m told that there are also many who have been occupying houses for close to 40 years paying rates but have not been given the chance to buy them.
As the Second Republic, we have made it a point that all urban householders should be given title deeds so that the properties help them and the next generations.
We cannot let people be evicted under our watch and these companies should be guided accordingly. Apart from making this firm decree that you shouldn’t be evicted; we are also going to ensure that you get title deeds.

Zimplats through its lawyers Dube, Manikai and Hwacha legal practitioners, in January this year, was granted the right to evict one Simbarashe Muza who occupied house number 24200, Umvovo, Chegutu.

Mnangagwa 'Saves' Former Mineworkers From Eviction

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) reportedly turned down a donation of vehicles and bicycles by Norton legislator Temba Mliswa (Independent) that was meant to help the force fight crime in the town.
The donation included a BMW 323i, a Toyota pick-up, plus 15 bicycles and batons.
Open Council reported sources as saying that ZRP refused the donations despite initially receiving them at a handover ceremony attended by Mashonaland West State Minister Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, who is Mliswa’s sister. Said the source:

The donations were handed over to Norton Police last year but they had been parked all the time.
The reason is that ZRP seniors in Harare were not receptive to the donation due to the politics around Mliswa and how he has constantly accused the Commissioner-General Matanga of being corrupt.

The two vehicles were reportedly returned to Mliswa late last year after spending months parked at Norton Police station.
Reports indicate that early this week, Norton Police Officer-In-Charge Zhanda informed Mliswa’s office to write withdrawal letters for the remaining bicycles and batons.
Norton residents roundly criticised the move, describing it as cheap politicking and playing with people’s lives. Shibba Kamudyariwa, a resident, said:

We have had many cases of people attacked with machetes nemakorokoza (illegal gold miners) here because the police are not able to patrol in the evening due to their lack of transport and equipment.
Now they get vehicles from the MP and they refuse them over politics.
Do they want people to die? It’s very bad.

ZRP Rejects Vehicle, Bicycle Donations From Mliswa

Outspoken Norton MP Temba Mliswa, (Independent), has criticised the Government for suspending teachers and headmasters in his constituency, saying authorities’ response is archaic.
Mliswa vowed to stand with the suspended educators whom he said have been dedicated to their profession even during difficult times. He said:

Heard that some teachers and headmasters in Norton were served with suspension letters. It’s pathetic of Govt.
It is the one that has failed to pay them adequately and when they complain it comes in with a heavy hand. They cannot be fired or suspended.
The response by Govt is archaic, you don’t do that in this era. I will stand by them. They have been dedicated through very difficult times and I promise to fight with them through it all.
I will get the names and we strategise on the way forward to fight this grave injustice.

The former ZANU PF Mashonaland West provincial chairman queried why “corrupt individuals” are moving freely yet the Government descends heavily on poor civil servants. Added Mliswa:
<blockquote>
As Norton we had very great results and after that one gets suspended because they need to be paid more? What’s that?
We have corrupt individuals out there to whom nothing has been done and yet we target poorly paid civil servants.
Our Government is taking advantage of our people being said to be passive. But it’s enough. We can’t be quiet at such injustice.

Last week, Primary and Secondary Education Minister, Evelyn Ndlovu, suspended all teachers who did not report for duty when schools opened on 7 February, for three months without pay.
The suspended teachers did not report for duty citing incapacitation while demanding that the Government restores their pre-October 2018 salaries of US$540 per month.

The Deputy Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Lovemore Matuke was Tuesday shocked by workers’ conditions at the Chinese-owned ceramic tile making company, Sunny Yi Feng.
The Norton-based company has for long been denying reports of poor working and living conditions saying it was meeting expected standards.
Sunny Yi Feng would add that such reports were being influenced by actions of conspiracy as a result of revenge distortion.

Following the reports, Matuke, accompanied by senior officials from his ministry, the national labour body, the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU), the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) made a surprise visit at the company where they came up against with the extremely adverse employee circumstances.
He was shocked to learn that the workers were daily fed on a diet of cornmeal and cabbages. He immediately ordered Sunny Yi Feng management to improve the food quality of its employees.
He told NewZimbabwe after the tour that he had implored the Chinese company to urgently reform and respect the country’s labour laws. He said:

It is the expectation of the government that every employer without distinction should respect the laws of the land, and as a ministry, it is our duty to ensure the Labour Act is applied, respected and enforced without favour.

Matuke also ordered Sunny Yi Feng to allow its workers to take regular off-days, improve the general cleanliness of ablution facilities and install doors for the employees to have privacy when using the restrooms.
He also demanded that a specific time should be created for the workers’ lunchtime, and not for them to eat while working.

Temba Mliswa’s ex-lover, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Susan_Mutami">Susan Mutami</a> has announced that she is going to contest against her ex-boyfriend in the 2023 general elections.
The Australian-bound Socialite and businesswoman made the announcement on Monday on social media. She said:

Mliswa's Ex-Lover Mutami To Contest For Norton Seat In 2023

Susan Mutami has declared her interest in contesting the Norton National Assembly seat currently held by her estranged lover Temba Mliswa.
Posting on Twitter on Monday, Mutami, a businesswoman and socialite based in Australia, said she has started mobilising resources for the development of Norton.
Mutami also claimed that Mliswa has reached out to her through intermediaries, asking her to desist from taking their matters to social media as this was negatively impacting his political profile.
This comes after Mutami <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/05/30/mutami-mliswa-drama-continues-as-she-posts-kids-bills/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">posted a letter to Mliswa</a> that stated fees required by an Australian school for the two kids which she says were sired by Mliswa, on social media. These people say they want the issue to be resolved traditionally yet Temba Mliswa has not even apologized to my Uncle whom he hates to the bone.
His emissaries told me that he is more concerned about his political brand and not his children whom he has not contributed any single cent towards their preparation.
To me, all this does not make any sense because a responsible person cannot put politics ahead of his children.
This has caused me to have thorough reflections and brought me to the decision of contesting the Norton parliamentary seat in 2023.
The people of Norton deserve meaningful and not the current piecemeal development taking place there.
I have started mobilizing some serious resources towards the development of that constituency with enormous economic potential.

Susan Mutami Targets Norton In 2023 Elections

Norton legislator Temba Mliswa has said he will father more children if he so wishes to and that he takes good care of his 18 children revealing that he pays over US$25 000 school fees per term for his children, The Sunday Mail reports.
Temba’s outburst comes amid a nasty breakup he is having with his former girlfriend who took to the press last week and accused the Norton legislator of being in a <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/02/02/he-is-sleeping-with-one-of-his-male-associates-temba-mliswas-alleged-pregnant-ex-lover/">homosexual affair with his friend</a> and making money through extorting people.
Responding to the Australian based philanthropist Susan Mutami, Mliswa said:
<blockquote>Yes I have 18 children, and I love them very much. I am proud of them and I take very good care of them. Each term, I pay school fees of about US$25 000 because all my children attend top schools. I have 13 girls and 5 boys.
We are six in our family but my brothers and sisters have just one or two children. So it is my duty to grow the clan. Our family is blessed. We have two legislators in Parliament and I count that as a blessing from God to my family</blockquote>
Temba then seemingly took a jab at Mutami and said he usually dates mature women :
<blockquote>People are different. I mostly date mature women, who are professionals and know what they want. Most of them come to an understanding with me just to have children and not get married. I have seen many marriages failing and I see a lot of cheating happening in marriages, so the marriage institution is not as sacrosanct as many people want to claim. What most people do not know is that in addition to my 18 children I take care of 600 other children through the Temba Mliswa foundation. This is in addition to other philanthropic projects that I carry out in my constituency</blockquote>
Mliswa has said he is planning to sue Mutami who has been very vocal about their relationship and what went wrong between them on social media.

A man reportedly entered the cash office of a service station in Norton and threatened the employees of the station with the pistol before taking away cash amounting to US$3 050.
This was revealed by ZRP on microblogging site Twitter in a post that reads:
<blockquote>The ZRP is investigating a case of armed robbery which occurred on 09/01/21 in which one suspect entered into a cash office at a service station in Norton, threatened the employees with an unknown pistol, stole about USD3 050 and went away.</blockquote>
ZRP is yet to apprehend the suspect as they appealed to anyone who has information that might lead to the arrest of the suspect to come forward:

Lone Robber Pounce On Norton Service Station

ZRP yesterday arrested Norton legislator Temba Mliswa for undermining police authority after a video of him allegedly shouting at police officers for failing to enforce social distancing went viral on social media, Daily News reports.
His arrest was confirmed by his lawyer, Musindo Hungwe who said his client was being politically persecuted:

<div>He was invited to the police to face charges of undermining the authority of the police. The charges are emanating from the video where he was telling the police to observe social distancing. We are, of course, not admitting to the charge and the matter could go to the courts.</div>

<div>These are trumped-up charges. There is no substance in the charges. This is political persecution because there was nothing untoward about what he did.</div>

<div>He was just asking the police to enforce the Covid-19 regulations. He told the police that they should maintain order because they sought to benefit from chaos. When a Member of Parliament raises those points, he is just doing his duty as a public official.</div>

On the 24 of April 2020, Norton Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa (Independent) embarked on a programme to disinfect “hot spots” in the constituency.
Places, where people gather in large numbers such as markets, shops, and hospitals, were sprayed with disinfectants.
