Harare magistrate Ayanda Ndlamini on Friday acquitted former Harare mayor Muchadeyi Masunda of indecent assault charges, reported <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200033214/ex-mayor-masunda-acquitted-in-indecent-assault-case">NewsDay</a>.
The complainant in the case was Ropafadzo Sibusiso Chidawu (34), the daughter of the late Harare Metropolitan Affairs minister Oliver Chidawu, who is a beneficiary of the Oliver Mandishona Chidawu Trust.
Magistrate Ndlamini ruled that the State’s case lacked evidence and proceeding to defence would waste resources as well as time.
She said the State had no tangible evidence to prove that, indeed, the complainant was indecently assaulted as alleged.
Ndlamini further noted that the testimony from the witnesses showed some bias considering that the complainant was the one who went to Masunda’s workplace and after being allegedly assaulted, she stayed for more than two hours.
The magistrate ruled that the State failed to prove that Masunda had sexual intentions when he approached the complainant intending to take his office keys. 
Masunda was being represented by Tecla Mapota during trial.
Allegations were that on August 4, 2023, Chidawu visited Masunda’s workplace in Milton Park, Harare, to discuss matters related to the Oliver Mandishona Chidawu Trust.
It was alleged that upon entering his office, Masunda refused to engage with her and physically confronted her, leading to a struggle where she elbowed him.
Chidawu claimed that realising she was being attacked, she decided to record the encounter on her cellphone.
She alleged that while bending over, Masunda grabbed her again, but she managed to free herself by elbowing him.
In a second assault incident, she claimed Masunda charged at her and grabbed her by the waist.
Chidawu claimed that she took the keys from Masunda’s office door, locked herself inside, and recorded the “meeting.”
After about two and a half hours, she returned the keys and left the office. The State contended that she later shared the incident with her subordinate, Truword Kapamara.
In their discharge application, Masunda’s lawyers, Gwaunza &amp; Mapota, highlighted that the complainant had sent a text message thanking him for the “meeting,” which they argued is inconsistent with the behaviour of someone who has been indecently assaulted.
They also pointed out inconsistencies in her testimony regarding when she reported the incident to the police, noting that she initially claimed an August 23 report but later suggested it was made on November 23.
Already, Chidawu had lost four of the six cases she had reported against Masunda, before this latest one.
After his acquittal, Masunda said the acquittal marked “the end of this harrowing and unheard of saga since January 1974 (just over 50 years ago) when I began my involvement in various facets of the legal profession”.

Former Harare Mayor, Muchadeyi Masunda, Applies For Acquittal In Indecent Assault Case

A 26-year-old man from Rujeko in Chinhoyi was sentenced to 12 months in prison for touching a 10-year-old girl’s privates without her consent.
Panashe Tinotenda Magusvu (26) was arraigned before the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court facing indecent assault charges.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), on July 13, 2024, at around 6:00 PM, the 10-year-old complainant and her mother boarded a Honda Fit en route to their residential area in Chinhoyi.
The complainant sat in the boot of the car with Magusvu.
Along the way, Magusvu inserted his right hand inside the complainant’s skirt and touched her privates four times.
He also caressed her thighs twice without her consent. He offered the complainant a US$1 note but she refused.
The complainant informed her mother when they disembarked from the vehicle.
A police report was made, leading to Magusvu’s arrest. Magusvu was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, of which 3 months were suspended for 5 years.
The remaining 9 months were suspended on condition that he complete 280 hours of community service.

A 26-year-old man was sent to jail for 1 year for touching a 10-year-old girl inappropriately without her permission. The man was on a car ride with the girl and her mother when he touched her private parts multiple times. The girl told her mother who then reported it to the police. The man was arrested and sentenced to prison, but some of the time was suspended if he completes community service. It's important to always respect other people's bodies and ask for permission before touching them.

Man Sentenced To 1 Year In Prison For "Touching" 10-Year-Old Girl

A 37-year-old Nyanga man was arraigned before the Nyanga Magistrates’ Court on charges of employing a 16-year-old girl and indecent account.
Count 1: Contravening the Children’s Act, that is, Restriction on employment of children, by employing a minor 
The accused person employed a 16-year-old complainant as a domestic worker at his residence. The matter came to light through a tip-off to the police.
Count 2: Indecent assault: In June 2024, the accused person entered the complainant’s room while she was sleeping and inappropriately touched her breasts without her consent.
For the first count, the accused was convicted and sentenced to 3 months’ imprisonment, wholly suspended on the condition that he perform 105 hours of community service.
For the second count of indecent assault, the accused was sentenced to a fine of USD120. In default of payment, he would face 30 days’ imprisonment.

A man in Nyanga was in trouble for hiring a 16-year-old girl to work for him and for touching her inappropriately. He got in trouble for breaking the law by employing a minor and for indecently assaulting her. He was given a punishment of community service and had to pay a fine. This happened because someone told the police about what he did. It's important to follow the rules and treat people with respect.

Nyanga Man Sentenced For Employing A 16-year-old Girl

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has cleared a secondary school teacher accused of inappropriately touching a female learner.
Patrick Nyahwo (55), an award-winning English Literature teacher stationed at Waddilove High School was suspended in October 2023 on indecent assault allegations.
Nyahwo was accused of caressing a Form 5 female learner at the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe-run school.
He was, however, found not guilty by the courts early this year after Marondera Magistrate Sharon Rakafa ruled that the allegations were a result of “work politics”.
The teacher then appeared before a disciplinary committee that visited the school two months ago.
A letter dated May 3, signed by Mashonaland East Provincial Education Director Annatoria Ncube, and seen by NewsDay, says Nyahwo was acquitted when he appeared before a government disciplinary committee at the school. It reads in part:

You are found not guilty of violating the provisions of paragraphs 4 and 7 of Statutory Instrument 1 of 2000 amended on the allegation that you hugged, caressed and touched a female learner’s (name withheld) private parts on October 13, 2023, in your office…
A girl learner also testified in the hearing that she was coached by a Guidance and Counselling lady teacher to implicate you in her written report.
This gave the impression that there was some form of connivance in building up this case.
Moreso, the key witness failed to report the matter to school authorities on the same day, despite its gravity. Therefore you are being absolved from this allegation.
</blockquote>
Ncube further stated that Nyahwo was entitled to all his salary arrears accrued since his suspension in November last year. Reads the letter:

Please be advised that you shall be entitled to your salaries for the duration of the suspension period, less any allowances paid during the same period of suspension, this being in terms of PSC Circular 9 of 2005 referenced C/216/415.

Waddilove High School Teacher Accused Of Inappropriately Touching A Female Learner Found Not Guilty

A university student based in Lupane who claimed to be a spiritual father sent by God demanded sexual intercourse from a fellow student and ended up kissing and fondling her without her consent was sentenced to nine months imprisonment for indecent assault.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the student was convicted and sentenced by the Lupane Magistrates’ Court. The NPA said:

A 21-year university student was sentenced to 9 months imprisonment by the Lupane Magistrates’ Court for indecent assault.
On April 29, 2024, the accused person who claimed to be a spiritual father sent by God visited the complainant at her campus residence requesting sexual intercourse.
The complainant refused but the accused person repeatedly touched her breasts and buttocks and kissed her without her consent.
The complainant threatened to report the incident prompting the accused person to leave the room.
After some time, the accused person returned to the complainant’s room and knocked at her door and the complainant opened.
The accused person entered the room and demanded to have sexual intercourse with the complainant but she refused.
</blockquote>
Fed up with the “spiritual father’s” pestering, the victim reported the incident to campus security guards who effected an arrest.
The student was arraigned before the Lupane Magistrates Court and was sentenced to a wholly suspended 9-month jail term.

University Student Sentenced For Indecent Assault After Demanding Intercourse As A "Spiritual Father"

A 51-year-old man from Chimanimani, Manicaland Province, was sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping a 10 year girl.
The accused recently appeared before the Chimanimani Magistrates’ Court for raping a 10-year girl on 27 October 2023.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the brief facts of the case are that on 26 October 2023, the accused person passed by the complainant’s house and found her mother cooking. The NPA said:

He entered the hut, drunk, and fell asleep. The complainant’s mother went to sleep in another room after preparing dinner, leaving her daughter in the hut with the accused person.
The complainant and her cousin slept in the same room as the accused. The next day, 27 October 2023, at around 0400hrs, the accused woke up, raped the complainant and told her not to tell anyone promising her money. He then went to the complainant’s mother’s room to ask for water.
</blockquote>
According to prosecutors, the mother heard her daughter crying and inquired about the cause. The minor confided in her mother, revealing that she had been raped. The incident was reported to the police on October 28, resulting in the arrest of the accused.
In another rape case, a 52-year-old man from Chipinge was dragged before the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court facing two counts of indecent assault and a single count of rape. The NPA said:
<blockquote>
On the 17th of March 2024, the accused person went to the complainant’s place of residence where he was employed as a herd man.
He asked the two complainants, one aged 12 and the other aged 13 to come with him to his homestead to collect some maize cobs and watermelons.
Whilst at the accused’s residence he asked the complainants to enter into his bedroom before he pulled out his manhood, fondled their breasts and rubbed his manhood on them.
On the 23rd of March 2024, the accused person asked the 12-year-old complainant to accompany him to his homestead. She went with her three-year-old cousin.
The accused person asked the complainant to enter into his bedroom where he fondled her breasts before he raped her.
The matter came to light when the complainant’s aunt found her in the accused person’s bedroom.
The aunt later interrogated her and the complainant confided in her leading to the accused person’s arrest.

The accused was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment each for the first and second counts (indecent assault).
He was sentenced to a further 20 years imprisonment for the third count (rape) of which three years were suspended.

Man (51) Jailed 20 Years For Raping 10-year-old Girl

A 40-year-old Odzi man was sentenced to 8 months in prison for indecent assault by the Mutare Magistrates Court after he fondled a fellow church member.
The brief facts of the case are that on the 30th of March 2024, during Easter celebrations, the accused person was entrusted by a church supervisor to accompany the complainant (15) home to obtain some water for a baptism ceremony.
However, along the way, the accused person placed his hand on the complainant’s shoulder, reached for her breast and fondled her while proposing love to her. He also requested to have sexual intercourse with the complainant but was turned down.
When they arrived at the complainant’s house, he stroked her skirt. The complainant told the church supervisor about the incident which was reported to the police. The accused person was arrested.
He was sentenced to 8 months imprisonment of which 4 months was suspended. A further 4 months was suspended on condition that he perform 140 hours of community service.
In an unrelated case, an 18-year-old man was recently arraigned before the Mutare Magistrate’s Court to answer to charges of indecent assault for fondling his 15-year-old neighbour.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the accused person proposed love to the complainant who turned him down sometime in September 2023.
Sometime in October 2023, he asked the complainant to clean his house. While the complainant was sweeping inside the house, the accused person entered the house, closed the door and fondled the complainant’s breasts and caressed her behind.
The complainant managed to stop him by biting him on the shoulder after which she fled the scene.
He was sentenced to 10 months in prison of which 4 months was suspended for 5 years. A further 4 months was suspended on condition that he perform 210 hours of community service.

Odzi Man (40) Jailed 8 Months For Fondling Church Member (15)

Former St John’s College athletics instructor and Zimbabwe Triathlon Association coach David Edward Gardner lost his appeal against conviction in a case of indecent assault involving minors.
According to the NPA, Gardner had been found guilty in July 2008 of 3 counts of indecent assault involving three boys who were students at the school.
He had been sentenced to 24 months imprisonment (i..e 8 months per count), of which 12 months were suspended and he was to serve 12 months effectively.
He was granted bail pending appeal on 22 July 2008 and has been out of custody since then.
Dissatisfied with the conviction, he appealed to the High Court protesting his innocence based on the fact that the State had not proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
However, the High Court dismissed Gardner’s appeal and he promptly lodged another appeal in the Supreme Court, alleging among other things that the Prosecutor assembled state witnesses in his office and discussed the case in a manner that was irregular and prejudicial to his case.
In a judgement handed down by the Supreme Court on 12 March 2024, the Supreme Court upheld the decision of the High Court that the State had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
There was irrefutable evidence that Gardner had unlawfully and intentionally abused one boy in Switzerland and two others in Zimbabwe.
The 12 months which was meant to be served in prison was commuted to 460 hours of community service because there was a delay before the appeal was heard in the High Court. After all, the record of proceedings went missing.
The issue of the missing record was beyond the National Prosecuting Authority’s control.
Gardner has been ordered to present himself before a Regional Magistrate at the Harare Magistrates Court for the assignment of community service duties at a public institution.

Former St John's College Athletics Instructor Abused Boys

The trial of Mighty Warriors head coach <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Shadreck_Mlauzi">Shadreck Mlauzi</a>, charged with two counts of indecent assault, continued before Harare magistrate Ethel Chichera on Thursday.
Dorothy Mugari, who is a safeguarding officer with the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA), testified.
She told the court that her duty was to protect the players and technical staff and confirmed receiving the assault report from the complainant on 07 October. Mugari said, as quoted by <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/witness-nails-mighty-warriors-coach/">The Herald</a>:
<blockquote>
I received a complaint from the team manager regarding this case. I went to the team manager and we talked to the complainant and she told us what had happened.
She said she was being harassed by the head coach. She said he was sexually and verbally abusing her.
She said the coach shouted at her, called her constantly and touched her thighs.
</blockquote>
Mugari, who wrote the sexual harassment report, said according to her findings, the complainant had not consented.
She submitted that she prepared the sexual harassment report according to the safeguarding policies and protocols.
During cross-examination, Mlauzi asked Mugari if she did not find it strange that the complainant did not file a report of indecent assault on the day it allegedly happened.
Mugari responded saying the complainant wrote it in her report, but she did not see any signs of assault nor did she witness the act.
She declined to comment about her character when asked by Mlauzi.
The State closed its case on Thursday, 23 November and the defence case opens on 05 December.

COSAFA Safeguarding Officer Testifies In Shadreck Mlauzi Trial

A member of the Mighty Warriors technical team accusing Mighty Warriors head coach, <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Shadreck_Mlauzi">Shadreck Mlauzi</a>, of indecent assault reportedly broke down in court while narrating her ordeal.
<a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/mlauzi-accuser-breaks-down-in-court/">H-Metro</a> reported that the complainant alleged that the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) protected Mlauzi after she reported the incident to them. She said:
<blockquote>
I went to his room in South Africa to get the money for resistance bands, and that’s when he grabbed my buttocks and said “imbondipawo zvinhu izvi”.
When I stretched my hand to take the money from him, he grabbed me by the buttocks and pulled me towards him while I was wearing tights and a jersey.
He started harassing me at the game and when we went to the hotel for a meeting, he harassed me again and I remained behind after the meeting crying, which prompted the safeguarding and team manager to return and ask why I was crying.
I told them everything, including his request for sex and massages.
</blockquote>
The complainant then broke down on the witness stand, saying she felt useless as if any man could do as they pleased with her body. She said:
<blockquote>
I didn’t tell anyone because I was afraid and because I had seen how others would be victimised for reporting matters of this nature.
This has affected me so much as there was widespread media coverage. My confidence was affected, and worse the football federation which was supposed to protect me, tried to hide the issue, and this has been difficult for me and my family. I felt and still feel vulnerable.
</blockquote>
Mlauzi, however, claimed that he has been in women’s football for over 22 years and has never violated any woman.
He said he admired the complainant, but never went beyond that as she alleged. Said Mlauzi:
<blockquote>
I have been in women’s football for over 22 years and never have I violated women, so it’s surprising that I have to defend myself against such allegations.
We had a virtual relationship. Most of our engagements were on WhatsApp. I don’t want to lie, she is a beautiful woman, and I admired her, but it didn’t go beyond that.
We have always had a good relationship with the complainant and even prior to my appointment, she would talk to me, video call me, WhatsApp call, and ask for favours, but I didn’t know that she had a motive.
Nothing happened on the day. I never forced her to come to my room. We have structures, including a team manager. She could have sent them to collect the things.
</blockquote>
Mlauzi said on the day in question, he took out US$20 and placed it on top of a drawer.
He said when his accuser came to his room, she took the money and waited. Said Mlauzi:
<blockquote>
She wouldn’t leave the room for whatever reason, so I told her that it was getting late and shopping malls would close, and then she went and bought the bands.
After the match on October 6, we had a valuation session to review our match and as a coach when demanding results, you demand your subordinates to share the same vision with you.

Mighty Warriors Coach Shadreck Mlauzi's Accuser Breaks Down In Court

A 38-year-old man from Masvingo was sentenced to a year in jail for fondling a woman’s breast without her consent, reported <a href="https://masvingomirror.com/1-year-for-grabbing-breasts/">The Mirror</a>.
James Taruvinga of Mucheke in Masvingo recently appeared before Magistrate Rutendo Jakati facing an indecent assault charge.
Taruvinga will, however, effectively serve six months in jail after the magistrate conditionally suspended six months of the sentence.
According to court papers, the incident happened last week on Wednesday around 1 PM at Mucheke Garages Rank.
Taruvinga, who was sitting outside a bar, approached the woman (name withheld) who was walking with her friend and fondled her breast.
The two women were looking for a three-legged pot when one of them was indecently assaulted.
The victim reported the matter to Police officers on patrol leading to Taruvinga’s arrest.

Masvingo Man (38) Jailed 12 Months For Touching Woman's Breast

Mighty Warriors head coach <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Shadreck_Mlauzi">Shadreck Mlauzi</a> who is charged with indecent assault was released on US$300 bail on Wednesday after spending the night in a remand prison.
In the first count, it is alleged that on 26 September, Mlauzi and the Mighty Warriors were in camp at Pandari Lodge in Glen Lorne, Harare before the squad’s departure for South Africa for the 2023 COSAFA Women’s Championship which took place from 4 to 15 October 2023.
The complainant is a member of the Mighty Warriors technical team.
She allegedly asked for the training programme but Mlauzi told her to collect it from his room.
Later that day she went to the room to collect it and Mlauzi told her he would email it to her.
Mlauzi allegedly then went on to say “pafoni unonditiza chimbondipawo kiss” asking the complainant to kiss him on his lips.
He allegedly grabbed the complainant’s shoulders and pulled her towards him in an attempt to kiss her without her consent but she refused.
The accused allegedly further demanded to have his body massaged through a WhatsApp call and asked for sexual intimacy which she refused.
In the second count, the State alleged that on 04 October, Mlauzi and the complainant were in South Africa at Garden Court Hotel with the rest of the team members.
On handing the hotel room keys to the complainant, Mlauzi allegedly instructed her to come and massage him.
The following day, while at a training session, the complainant told the coach that they didn’t have resistance bands for training and he told her to collect money from his room.
The complainant went to collect the money from the accused’s room and when he handed over the US$20, he allegedly grabbed the complainant’s buttocks and said “chimbondipawo zvinhu izvi ndimbozvinzwa.” The complainant refused and went away.
The next day, Mlauzi allegedly started harassing the complainant after the match and that prompted her to register her complaint with the COSAFA Safeguarding Officer who later counselled her.
Meanwhile, Mlauzi had made an application arguing that Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda didn’t have jurisdiction to preside over the second count which allegedly occurred in South Africa.
However, Magistrate Dzuda dismissed the application ruling that the application didn’t have merit.
She stated that the accused and the complainant were in South Africa representing Zimbabwe and it is this country that is interested in the matter hence it should be heard in Zimbabwe.

Mighty Warriors Coach, Shadreck Mlauzi, Granted US$300 Bail

An overseer at a Faith in God Ministries Church in Harare was arrested for allegedly raping his 10-year-old niece who lived under his custody, <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/church-elder-showed-pornography-to-niece-10-before-raping-her-court-hears/">reported ZimLive</a>.
The suspect, Dennis Mpondo (54), briefly appeared before Harare magistrate, Marewanazvo Gofa on Wednesday facing rape charges.
He was remanded in custody after the state opposed his bail application.
Mpondo is facing four separate charges, including exposing a child to pornographic material, two counts of aggravated indecent assault and one count of rape.
Allegations are that on 15 July 2023, the girl, who wanted to do her homework, went to Mpondo’s room to ask for his cell phone.
Instead of helping the juvenile with her homework, Mpondo allegedly showed her a pornographic video before he let her go.
After the incident, Mpondo allegedly indecently assaulted the minor on two different occasions.
It is further alleged that on 20 July, the minor asked Mpondo for some money to buy herself some snacks.
When she brought back the change later, Mpondo allegedly dragged her onto the bed and fondled her breasts. Read the state outline:

During the period extending from July 21 to September 22, the complainant approached the accused and asked him for his phone so she could watch cartoons.
The accused touched the complainant’s breasts, lifted her and put her on top of his body while he was lying on his back.
He went on to remove her pants and then caressed her… and inserted his finger into her privates.

On another occasion, the minor allegedly went to Mpondo’s bedroom to again ask for his cell phone.
Mpondo allegedly told the girl that the phone’s battery was flat since he could not recharge it because of a power cut on the day.
He then allegedly told the girl to close the door before he lifted and raped her.
It is alleged that the sexual abuse came to light after the girl’s mother saw a video of her daughter masturbating.

Church Elder Shows Pornography To Niece (10), And Rapes Her

A 51-year-old from Mahatshula North, Bulawayo, was arraigned before a magistrate facing charges of indecent assault after he repeatedly fondled his 12-year-old stepdaughter’s buttocks.
The alleged abuse occurred on three separate occasions.
The suspect whose name is being withheld to protect the victim was not asked to plead to three counts of indecent assault as defined in Section 67 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23 when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Busani Sibanda.
He was remanded in custody to 8 December 2022.
Allegations are that on an unknown date but sometime in October this year the man arrived home at night and found the complainant who is a Grade Six pupil sleeping.
He allegedly removed his pair of trousers and sneaked into her blankets and fondled her buttocks.
After abusing his stepdaughter, the man reportedly ordered her not to tell anyone.
The suspect allegedly attacked the minor in the same manner on 22 October 2022 when he found her cleaning the house, and also on 31 October 2022 when arrived home at night and found his stepdaughter sleeping.
On 1 November 2022, the victim allegedly revealed the ordeal to her class teacher who then advised her to tell her cousin.

Man (51) In Court For Fondling Stepdaughter (12)

A 55-year-old man from Makokoba suburb in Bulawayo was arrested for kissing his neighbour’s 16-year-old son.
The accused whose name is being withheld to protect the victim is facing a charge of indecent assault.
The suspect recently appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Rachel Mukanga.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded out of custody to 19 December 2022 on $20 000 bail.
Allegations are that on 19 November 2022, the suspect called the boy to his room at Vundu Flats and he complied.
When he entered, the accused allegedly spoke to him in Shona saying imbondipawo mbijana (Please can you give me a little bit) and the boy questioned him on what he meant.
It is further alleged that the accused then immediately grabbed the victim with his left hand and dragged him close to his bed. He then kissed the boy on his right cheek.

Man (55) In Court For Kissing Neighbour's Son (16)

A white garment self-styled prophet was recently sentenced to 12 months in prison for caressing his client’s private parts and fondling her breasts during a healing “session.”
Simbarashe Shereni (32) appeared before Mutare magistrate, Prisca Manhibi, charged with indecent assault as defined in Section 67 (1) (a) (i) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.
He pleaded guilty to the charge.
Shereni will, however, serve an effective six-month jail term after six months were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
Prosecuting, Mazvita Kadenha, said that on 9 November this year, near Moffat (Moses Mvenge) Hall in Mutare, Shereni unlawfully caressed Christine Munyanyiwa’s (21) private parts and stomach. Said Kadenha:

On November 9, the complainant went to Shereni’s shrine near Moffat Hall to seek spiritual assistance from him.
Shereni ordered the complainant to fetch some firewood to heat some stones for steaming. He covered the complainant with a cloth and steamed her.
After that, Shereni asked the complainant to kneel in front of him. He held the complainant’s skirt and panties and pulled them down.
He caressed the complainant’s lower part of the stomach and her privates.
The accused also fondled the complainant’s breast saying he was casting out the evil spirits in her stomach, breasts and private parts. This was done without her consent.

Shereni said he didn’t mean to abuse the young woman but was helping her to make full progress in her life. He said:

The spirit of God showed me that she had spells (zvitsinga) in her body that were blocking her life from fully progressing. I wanted to help her so that her life would be progressive.
I removed the spells from her breasts, although I didn’t touch them. I simply gave her instructions on what to do.
I then removed a furry and breathing thing from her private parts and threw it in the fire.
I didn’t ask for payment as I am only a servant of God.

He also said when the complainant arrived at the shrine, there were two other clients.
