The opposition CCC has blamed the Government for the alleged abduction and torture of one of its newly-elected councillors in Harare on Saturday night.
Posting on social media site X, CCC said Glen Norah councillor, Womberaishe Nhende was abducted, tortured, drugged, and dumped in Mapinga, Mashonaland West Province. <a href="https://twitter.com/CCCZimbabwe/status/1698219574078935338?s=20">Reads the post</a>:

…our Glen Norah councilor, Womberaishe Nhende… was abducted, tortured, drugged, and dumped in Mapinga by the Harare regime. His only “crime” is being a member of CCC.
The panic displayed by the Harare regime is indicative of their knowledge that they did not win the 2023 election.
</blockquote>
According to Change Radio, Nhende’s assailants used two vehicles, a brown Toyota Fortuner and a silver Toyota Belta. <a href="https://twitter.com/ChangeRadioZW/status/1698131265755418718?s=20">It said</a>:

CCC youth leader Womberai Nhende and one other individual were abducted at around 10 PM yesterday.
The assailants used two vehicles: a brown Toyota Fortuner and a silver Toyota Belta.
They were severely assaulted, injected with an unknown substance, and later dumped in Mapinga. The regime has no shame.

This comes after another CCC activist, Nelson Mukwenha, was allegedly abducted by suspected State security agents on 26 August.
According to Amnesty International, on 26 August 2023, Mukwenha was part of a crowd of people that prevented suspected security officials from abducting Promise Mkwananzi, spokesperson of the CCC, during a press conference in Harare.
Later that evening, Mukwenha was reportedly picked up by suspected security officials at his home in Highfields, Harare.
Mukwenha was then tortured and dumped in a forest in Mapinga.

Newly-elected CCC Councillor Abducted And Tortured | Report

The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) has urged the government to criminalise abductions and enforced disappearances in accordance with the country’s constitution. On the occasion of the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, the human rights organization emphasized the need for the government to ratify the United Nations International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance. ZHLR said:
<blockquote>
While in Section 53, the Constitution expressly outlaws torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, the lack of legislation that criminalises abduction and enforced disappearances has created a gap in domestic law and fuelled impunity.
</blockquote>
ZHLR said the recent surge in reported cases of enforced disappearances, particularly targeting government critics, highlights the urgency for Zimbabwean authorities to establish a legal framework that prevents such grave human rights violations and ensures justice and redress for victims and their families. ZLHR also called upon both state and non-state actors to take effective measures in preventing enforced disappearances and holding the responsible parties accountable.
Several government critics, including opposition members and human rights defenders, have made claims of being abducted by suspected state security agents. Some notable cases include Itai Dzamara, a well-known activist advocating for political change, he was abducted in 2015 and has not been seen since.
Another one is Jestina Mukoko, a human rights activist and journalist. She was abducted in 2008 and held incommunicado for several weeks before being charged with plotting to overthrow the government. Tawanda Muchehiwa, a journalism student, was abducted in 2020 and allegedly tortured by suspected state security agents. Joana Mamombe, Cecilia Chimbiri, and Netsai Marova claimed that they were abducted by suspected state security agents in 2020 after participating in a protest and reportedly subjected to torture and sexual assault.
The government denies these allegations, claiming they are staged to tarnish its image. Authorities often attribute the abductions to a “third force” aiming to discredit the government. Some analysts argue that these abductions are intended to instil fear among government critics who expose human rights violations and mismanagement by the government.

ZLHR Urges Zimbabwe To Criminalise Abductions And Enforced Disappearances

A pupil at Shabani Primary School in Zvishavane, Midlands Province recently survived a kidnapping attempt by two masked men while on her way home.
The suspects reportedly followed the girl from behind, sprayed a white substance in her face, and tried to shove her into their car.
The incident was revealed in a letter by the school’s headmistress who went on to implore parents to ensure their children were also safe outside school premises.
In a letter addressed to parents, the school head, who only signed off as Matutu, said the attempted kidnapping took place on 08 June.
Matutu, however, did not disclose what Grade the child was or her age. <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/primary-school-pupil-survives-kidnapping-incident/">Part of the letter reads</a>:

Two men wearing face masks and driving a car followed a child after school and grabbed and doused her with a whitish substance.

In March this year, a 12-year-old girl was abducted while she was looking for transport near a primary school in Eastlea, Harare.
Three unknown assailants in a blue Toyota Hiace were involved in the kidnapping.
The girl managed to escape from the three men after they had parked the vehicle in the Hillside area and hid in a nearby maize field.

Kidnappers Target Schoolchildren

Police in Midlands Province have arrested a 16-year-old housemaid who was employed in Zvishavane for kidnapping her employer’s eight-month-old baby and for stealing from her.
The maid kidnapped the baby a day after she was employed.
ZRP Midlands provincial spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the arrest to <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/https-www-newzimbabwe-com-maid-arrested-after-kidnapping-employers-eight-month-old-baby-a-day-after-being-hired/">NewZimbabwe.com</a>, saying the maid is from Mushandike Resettlement Scheme in Masvingo. He said:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of a female juvenile aged 16 of Village 15 Mushandike Resettlement Scheme, Masvingo, in connection with a case of kidnapping after she stole an eight-month-old baby.
In brief, the circumstances are that on 9 April 2023, the suspect, Evidence Hove got employed as a domestic maid by Memory Sibanda aged 38 in Mandava Township in Zvishavane.
The following morning on 10 April 2023 she was left taking care of four children aged 14, 12, 8 years and the youngest aged 8 months, while the employer went away.

Police said soon after the employer left, Evidence stole US$60 and went away with the eight-month-old Junior Marenga leaving the other three children behind.
Sibanda was informed about the incident and when the maid failed to return a report was made to ZRP Zvishavane.
The police arrested the maid on 12 April at around 10 AM at Village 7 Sovelele in Sandawana, with the baby in her custody.
Police took the victim to Zvishavane District Hospital for examinations.
Inspector Mahoko urged members of the public to ensure that they employ housemaids who have traceable records.
He said prospective employers should have their maids vetted by police before employing them. This service is done freely at any police station.
He also implored parents and guardians not to entrust or leave their children under the custody of strangers.

Housemaid (16) Kidnaps Employee's Baby A Day After Being Hired

A 16-year-old girl from Gokwe who was allegedly abducted by suspected ZANU PF supporters was dumped in Kadoma.
Chairmaine Chiremba, a learner at Njelele High School, was kidnapped in the early hours of Wednesday according to her father Christopher.
Christopher told the <a href="https://newsday.co.zw/southerneye/local-news/article/200009575/abducted-gokwe-girl-dumped-in-kadoma">Southern Eye</a> that Chairmaine was at Kadoma Police Station. He said:
<blockquote>
I am currently getting information that she is housed at Kadoma police and is safe.
She was dumped along the highway by a black (Toyota) Wish car with no number plates.
She is still in custody at Kadoma Police Station and they said they are making arrangements to ferry her to Gokwe centre.
</blockquote>
He said they realised Charmaine was missing when her mother went to wake her up to prepare for school. 
Her mother found blood stains on the veranda of their bedroom and a note written ‘usivhotela ZANU PF mwana tatora’.
The note was written in a Shona dialect spoken in Gokwe, translated to “you should vote for ZANU PF, we have taken the child”.
Chiremba suspects his child was targeted because, in 2013, his wife contested for councillor under the MDC-T banner and lost. He added:

Ever since then, we have stayed away from politics. We even voted in the recent ZANU PF primary elections. I am not sure why they would target my family.

Abducted Gokwe Girl (16) Found In Kadoma

A 16-year-old girl from Gokwe went missing on Wednesday and her parents suspect she was abducted by ZANU PF supporters.
Christopher Chiremba told <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/girl-16-gone-missing-parents-suspect-abducted-by-zanu-pf-supporters/">ZimLive</a> that his daughter Charmaine Chiremba, a Form Three learner at Njelele High School, went missing in the early hours of Wednesday. He said:
<blockquote>
We need assistance to look for our 16-year-old daughter Charmaine Else Chiremba.
On Wednesday morning, we heard footsteps outside our house.
I went to investigate and saw Charmaine and her sister coming from the toilet and I went back to sleep.
</blockquote>
He said they realised Charmaine was missing when her mother went to wake her up to prepare for school. Said Chiremba:
<blockquote>
She found blood stains on the veranda of their bedroom and a note written ‘usivhotela ZANU PF mwana tatora’.
The note was written in a Shona dialect spoken in Gokwe, translated to “you should vote for ZANU PF, we have taken the child.

Chiremba said they reported the case to the police and later conducted a search with some community members.
He said the search party found the girl’s blouse thrown on the ground a few metres from the house.

Gokwe Girl (16) Gone Missing, Parents Fear She Was Abducted By ZANU PF Supporters

Four (4) female Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) employees were reportedly abducted and held for ransom in Musina, South Africa, on Monday night.
The victims, who work at the Beitbridge border post, had entered South Africa at around 3 PM to do some shopping and were all in ZIMRA uniforms.
<a href="https://www.zimlive.com/2022/09/4-zimra-officers-kidnapped-held-for-ransom-in-south-africa/">ZimLive</a> reported a source as saying the four we kidnapped at gunpoint and robbed of all their possessions before ransom demands were made. Said the source:
<blockquote>
They were all in ZIMRA uniform. The kidnappers must have known who their targets were.
The kidnappers demanded R10 000 to free them, but they didn’t have the money on them.
The ZIMRA officers were made to contact their colleagues at the border and one of them had an FNB account, and a transfer was effected.
… The kidnappers were apparently Zimbabwean because they spoke Shona.

The ZIMRA officers were reportedly released at around 12 AM on Tuesday.
Limpopo Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo had not confirmed the incident on Tuesday while a ZIMRA spokesman said they were still gathering details.

Four ZIMRA Officials Kidnapped, Held For Ransom In SA By "Zimbabweans"

Police are searching for the ZANU PF youth chairman for Bumba District in Chimanimani, Nicholas Madzianike, who allegedly went missing on 19 June.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the case to The Herald. He said:
<blockquote>
We are investigating the case in which Nicholas Madzianike allegedly disappeared from Bumba Business Centre on June 19.
Police are on the ground gathering facts on what happened on that day. We will give a detailed statement when we gather all the facts.
</blockquote>
Madziyanike, a ZANU PF Youth League chairman for Ward 6 Chayamiti, was reportedly dragged out of Chisedze Bar at Bumba Business Centre over an undisclosed issue and has not been seen since then.
Three suspects, Chengetanai Musudu, Hakata Musudu and Aaron Chizemo, are assisting police with investigations.
One of the suspects is alleged to have been found in possession of Madzianike’s Itel A52 cellphone.

"Abducted" ZANU PF Chairman Still Missing

Concern has been raised over the safety of ZimLive editor Mduduzi Mathuthu after five men who claimed to be police officers visited his Bulawayo home on Friday around midday. Mathuthu was not present at the time.
The men, who were reportedly driving in a silver sedan vehicle without number plates, did not show their police badges and declined a request to leave their contacts.
The men instructed those present that Mathuthu should present himself to Detective Sergeant Patrice Nyanhete at Office 12 at the Law and Order section at Bulawayo Central Police Station.
However, when Mathuthu’s lawyer Nqobani Sithole later went to the police station, he was advised that Nyanhete was “off duty.”
Sithole also said Law and Order detectives present said Mathuthu was not a person of interest. Said, Sithole:

I’m now more concerned than I was when I went to the police station. If the people at Mathuthu’s house were not police officers and given that they didn’t want to be identified by driving a vehicle without number plates, then it’s safe to assume that this was going to be an abduction and not an arrest.

When contacted for comment, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “I don’t have information on that at the moment.”

Lawyers Raise Alarm After "Detectives" Raid Journalist's Home

A 22-year-old Glen View man was allegedly sexually abused by two women for three days at an unidentified place.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the victim was kidnapped by two men who blindfolded him and drove away for about 40 minutes to the place where the women took turns sexually abusing him.
ZRP spokesperson in Harare Province, Inspector Julius Chakanza, confirmed the case saying the victim was referred to Sally Mugabe Hospital for treatment. Said Insp Chakanza:
<blockquote>
Police are investigating a case of kidnapping and aggravated indecent assault of a man that took place in Glen View.
Circumstances were that on May 1, 2022, at about 2015 hours, the complainant was walking in Glen View 1, due north towards Patrenda Way, when he was approached by a black motor vehicle.
The vehicle was reported to have stopped in front of the complainant and a man pushed the complainant into the vehicle and sped off.
In the vehicle, there were two men and two women and one of the accused persons was reported to have blindfolded the victim with a black cloth.
The victim was driven to a house, after travelling for almost 40 minutes, and lost his cellphone and US$40.
</blockquote>
Insp Chakanza added that the victim said that he was sexually abused by one of the female members of the gang.
The following day, he was given bread and eggs by another female member of the gang before she sexually abused him. Added Insp Chakanza:

On May 3, 2022, the complainant was blindfolded, tied on both hands and legs and taken back to Glen View, where he was stabbed once on his left shoulder.

Two Women Sexually Abuse Kidnapped Man (22)

Suspected ZANU PF activists who allegedly murdered a Citizens for Coalition for Change (CCC) Kwekwe activist in February are reportedly threatening witnesses against testifying.
Mboneni Ncube was stabbed twice with a spear at a CCC rally held at Mbizo shopping centre and died on admission to Kwekwe Central Hospital.
The deceased’s sister, Judith Ncube, said she was kidnapped on Thursday evening by suspected ZANU PF activists who threatened to kill her if she continued demanding answers into Mboneni’s murder.
Speaking to The Standard, Judith said she now feared for her life following the abduction incident. She said:
<blockquote>
It was around 4 pm when the incident happened. They grabbed and bundled me into their vehicle.
They took me to a ZANU PF base in Kwekwe where they threatened to make me disappear if I kept on pressing for answers to the killing of my brother.
His killers are known and all I want is closure and justice.
</blockquote>
The incident was reported to the police and the case number is CRO/04/22.
Also speaking to The Standard, Judith’s lawyer Darlington Marange of the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum said:

She identified some of the culprits that were implicated in the murder, including some known ruling party bigwigs.
She has been saying that police are refusing to take the names of the perpetrators.
We are now considering visiting the police to iron this out because it falls under their duties to take the report as is and to investigate.
It appears there is some resistance but this is something that we have to iron out.
We are also considering getting a peace order against the people who have been harassing her.
She now lives in fear and we have to now take that route of a peace order to ensure her safety.
The issue of her safety is now of paramount importance outside other legal routes that we want to take.

Other people willing to testify against Ncube’s killers were being harassed constantly, Mbizo MP-elect Settlement Chikwinya claimed.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) arrested 16 ZANU PF youths for Ncube’s murder but later released 11 of them.

Suspected ZANU PF Activists Kidnap Murdered CCC Activist's Sister

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has dismissed as false claims that former Harare mayor and Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) executive member, Herbert Gomba was abducted.
Social media reports on Saturday alleged that Gomba was taken away from his home by a group of men claiming to be from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
The unknown men who allegedly abducted Gomba were reportedly using three plateless white Isuzu vehicles.
However, the ZRP refuted the claims, saying Gomba is facing charges of perjury and violation of the Electoral Act. Police posted on Twitter:

Gomba surrendered himself to the police in the company of his lawyer Harrison Nkomo and is in custody.
From our investigations, there is no credible evidence of him having been abducted.

The former mayor is the Citizens Coalition for Change council candidate for Glen Norah in the 26 March by-elections.
Gomba, and three City of Harare council officials are facing corruption charges and were expected in court on 14 March for trial.

No Credible Evidence Gomba Was Abducted - Police

The mother of a seven-year-old boy who was kidnapped in Zimbabwe four years ago and smuggled to Kenya says she is losing hope of ever seeing him again.
This comes after authorities in the East African country reportedly failed to find him at the children’s home where he was said to be.
Awakhiwe Ackim Ncube was abducted while he was playing with other children at his grandfather’s homestead in Nkayi.
He was found at the Kenyan border and was taken to Happy Children’s Home in Nairobi after the authorities in Kenya had failed to locate his parents.
A taskforce is led by the Children’s Services in Kenya failed to locate Awakhiwe at Happy Children’s Home, and will now search for him in all children’s homes in Kenya.
Awakhiwe’s mother, Nobekezelo Maseko, spoke with a woman at Happy Children’s Home some time back but failed to get the name or the phone number of the woman she spoke with.
The International Organisation for Migration(IOM) said it was difficult to locate the child. IOM representative, Tsetse Mkhonto, said:

The Kenya Children’s Services has formed a committee that is already on the ground investigating the whereabouts of the kid.
It is a challenging task because we have not yet found the lady whom the parents had contacted, if we manage to get her contacts it will be a conclusion of the matter.

Kenyan Taskforce Searches For Missing Zimbabwean Boy

A heavily pregnant woman was kidnapped and detained for three hours in the bush by a knife-wielding man who inflicted cuts, bruises and bites on her body.
The unidentified man abducted the woman from a maternity waiting home at Manama Mission Hospital in Matabeleland South in the early hours of Thursday.
The shelter has no security details manning the premises and sources told CITE that the kidnapped woman was s_xually abused.
However, in a report addressed to the District Medical Officer, Gwanda District Nursing Officer, a T Sibanda noted that the woman was “assaulted, threatened and was not s_xually abused by the young man.” Said Sibanda:
<blockquote>On the 23rd of June 2021, Manama Mission Hospital made a report of the attack on women in the shelter at 12 midnight by an unknown person (male) wielding a knife.
The young man harassed and attacked pregnant women in the shelter. He took their clothes and phones, put them in a bag and fled into the bush with one pregnant mother for 3 hours.
At 0330 hours, he brought back the pregnant woman who had suffered some injuries (cuts, bruises and human bites).
He then ran away upon being pursued by the ZRP and some staff members.</blockquote>
The hospital officials have since resolved to assign two general hands to act as security guards at the hospital round the clock.
Meanwhile, most of the women at the shelter have returned to their homes amid concerns from health officials that this could lead to an increase in home deliveries.
Contacted for comment by CITE, Matabeleland South police said they have not yet received the report.

Pregnant Woman Abducted From Hospital, Beaten In Three-hour Ordeal

The opposition MDC Alliance has expressed dismay over the prosecution of three hospitalised party activists who are yet to recover from the torture and s_xual abuse they were subjected to by suspected State agents.
In a statement posted on its Twitter page, the party slammed the State for “fast-tracking” the trial of the three women, saying the move is done to distract attention from the torture committed by its agents. The statement read:
<blockquote>Even at the worst times and in the darkest moments of Zimbabwe’s history, we’ve not seen women who’ve suffered a sexual assault with weapons following an abduction and torture by state agents forced to “stand trial” when they can barely stand due to their egregious injuries.
No attempt whatsoever has been made by @edmnangagwa’s regime to bring the perpetrators of the torture to book. Instead, they are trying to distract attention from the torture they committed by fast-tracking an unprecedented sham trial at the ladies’ hospital beds.
The cruelty, inhumanity and degrading nature of the State sham prosecution is made worse because the women are still in a state of psychological trauma following the sexual and physical assault they endured. The continued persecution against them must stop.</blockquote>
The MDC Alliance Youth Assembly leaders, national Deputy Chairperson Cecilia Chimbiri, Deputy Organising Secretary Netsai Marowa and Secretary for Policy and Research Hon. Joana Mamombe (MP) were allegedly seized from a police station in Harare by unknown gunmen and subjected to inhumane treatment for 48 hours in Mashonaland Central Province.
The State has rejected involvement and instead, accused the trio of stage-managing the abduction and torture.

MDCA Dismayed Over The Trial Of Bedridden Activists

The sacking of Deputy Information Minister Energy Mutodi on Wednesday by President Emmerson Mnangagwa is a charade that does nothing to bring to justice the perpetrators of heinous crimes against three MDC Alliance activists, a political commentator has said.
University of Kent law lecturer Alex Magaisa said Mnangagwa fired Mutodi out of embarrassment after the Rhumba musician labelled the hospitalised opposition activists prostitutes who were bashed by their lovers after that demanded to be paid in foreign currency for their services. Magaisa said:
<blockquote>Mutodi may have been fired and presumably, the tweet mocking the victims was the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back. But the real issue is the abduction and torture of Joana, Netsai and Cecilia. Perpetrators of these crimes are still out there. This charade cannot hide that.
Without accepting what happened to the 3 women and taking responsibility, the sacking of Mutodi is more out of embarrassment and a need to be seen to be doing something while doing nothing about the real crimes. Mutodi had outlived his purpose before he stepped into office.
What the 3 women and their families want is real action towards finding the perpetrators and bringing them to book. What all survivors of heinous crimes in the past want is the government taking action against offenders. As long as the government does nothing this is a mere fraud.</blockquote>
The three MDC Alliance officials, Harare West MP Joanah Mamombe, Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova were abducted, tortured and s_xually assaulted after taking part in an anti-government demonstration in Warren Park, Harare on Wednesday last week.
The trio was dumped from a moving car at dawn on Friday, two days after being arrested for demonstrating against food shortages.

The three MDC Alliance activists alleged that they were arrested at a roadblock near the Show Grounds in Harare after taking part in a flash demonstration in Warren Park on Wednesday last week.
They were made to leave their car at the police station and were then seized by gunmen who drove them to Bindura, threw them into a pit, s_xually abused them for two days and then dumbed them from a moving vehicle on Friday.

Torture Of MDCA Activists Was A Pr_stitution Transaction Gone Bad - Mutodi

The MDC has filed an urgent court application to compel the Zimbabwe Republic Police to bring 3 missing MDC senior members to court.
The missing members – Joana Mamombe, Cecelia Chinembiri and Netsai Marova went missing in Warren Park on Wednesday 13 May after they were abducted during a flash protest.
Initially, the police said that they had arrested the 3, but later <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/zimbabwe-police-issues-contradicting-statements-on-disappearance-of-mdcs-mamombe-and-colleagues/">made a u-turn today</a>, denying that they had them in custody.
The whereabouts of the 3 are yet to be established.
MDC Alliance Secretary-General, Chalton Hwende updated on Twitter:

MDC Alliance Files Urgent Court Application Compelling Police To Bring Out Mamombe And Colleagues

<blockquote>As the People’s party, the MDC Alliance is totally appalled and strongly condemns the evil abduction of our Youth Assembly leaders, national Deputy Chairperson Cecilia Chimbiri, Deputy Organising Secretary Netsai Marowa and Secretary for Policy and Research Hon. Joana Mamombe (MP).
We demand their unconditional and immediate release.
This must be followed up with a strong reprimand and disciplinary action against all the repressive apparatus involved in the abductions including the individuals who gave the orders.
As the People’s party, we have no doubt that our Youth Assembly leaders forced disappearances has the tacit approval of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s illegitimate regime.
Indeed, the illegitimate regime has been at the centre of using abductions as a strategy to deal with dissent.
This unrepentant behavior of the regime is at the centre of Zimbabwe’s isolation from the family of nations.
It has no place in modern day society.
The People’s party calls upon all the progressive forces for democracy both nationally and internationally to confront this ever-growing trend of State sanctioned forced disappearances.
Indeed, this latest incident of the abduction of our Youth Assembly leaders must not be viewed in isolation at all.
For example, in January of 2019, several MDC Alliance members were abducted only to be dumped at police stations after being tortured for hours.
Then there has also been the abductions of comedians, trade union leaders including the then leader of the Hospital Doctors Association Dr. Peter Magombeyi.
Worse still, some of the people abducted in the past like Itai Dzamara and Patrick Nabanyama are still yet to be found while some like Tonderai Ndira were killed in cold blood and their bodies found chopped into pieces.
As the People’s party, we would like state it in unequivocal terms that these abductions which are a gross Crime Against Humanity; are totally unacceptable and must come to an end forthwith.
In any case, Zimbabweans have a legal right to join, form or participate in activities of political parties of their own choice in line with Section 67 of the national Constitution.
In a new Zimbabwe led by our People’s government, such kind of repressive behaviour and conduct will not be tolerated nor accepted.
Peace, justice and freedom shall be guaranteed to all Zimbabweans regardless of their political affiliations or divergent views.

Prominent journalist Hopewell Chin’ono has responded to an apparent threat by government spokesperson Nick Mangwana that “two goat-herders” will be arrested for spreading falsehoods during the national lockdown.
Posting on microblogging site Twitter on Sunday, Chin’ono said abducting and killing him and Harare lawyer Thabani Mpofu will not bring prosperity to Zimbabwe. <a href="https://twitter.com/daddyhope/status/1244193819555434497" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">He wrote</a>:
<blockquote>Nick should understand that abducting Advocate Thabani Mpofu and myself and killing us will not bring prosperity to Zimbabwe.
A State which rules through fear and coercion instead of ideas and implementation is a rogue State!
These are the things that invite sanctions and rebuke!</blockquote>
On Saturday, Mangwana said that taking advantage of the lockdown, dealing with propagators of fake news will not be difficult if only two “VanaMbudziyadhura” are arrested. <a href="https://twitter.com/nickmangwana/status/1243739262069202944" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">He posted on Twitter</a>:
<blockquote>Because of the #lockdownzim munongobatigwa pagwenzi seshuro. Kungabopwa vanaMbudziyadhura vaviri then vazhinji vanovona kuti nhema hadzibhadhari. [Because of the lockdown, you will be arrested at home. If only two “Goat-herders” are arrested, the majority will see that spreading falsehoods does not pay].</blockquote>
This comes after exiled former cabinet minister Jonathan Moyo said there growing chatter about a plan to abduct Chin’ono and Mpofu. <a href="https://twitter.com/ProfJNMoyo/status/1243949670386274305" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">He tweeted</a>:
<blockquote>There’s growing chatter about a plot to abduct @daddyhope and Advocate Thabani Mpofu. It’s imminent. Journalist Hopewell Chin'ono Responds To Threats Of Abduction

A Zimdanceall musician, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Platinum_Prince">Platinum Prince</a> (real name Ian Makiwa) was reportedly abducted and assaulted yesterday (Sunday, 27 October 2019).
Reports claim that he was abducted on his way from the airport in Harare, assaulted and later dumped along Chiremba Road. Pictures circulating on social media show the musician with a bloody face.
It is not clear why it happened but there have also been suggestions that he was assaulted for his September song critical of President Emmerson Mnangagwa called “Ndiyo Yacho Here Mr President” (literally translated “Is this is It Mr President?”). This has however not been verified.

The family of the missing Harare Central Hospital doctor, Peter Magombeyi, says it is devastated by his disappearance but remains hopeful that he will come back alive.
Family spokesperson and uncle to Peter, Harry Magombeyi said the family has a lot of questions on why he was targeted for abduction. He said:
<blockquote>This is the most difficult period for us as a family. We are very much devastated by the abduction of our son Peter.
We are having sleepless nights trying to imagine what has happened to him.
Where is he, is he still alive, we also have lots of questions on why they decided to target him.
As a family, we really appreciate and we feel humbled when we see doctors and nurses demanding the return of their colleague alive.
It gives us hope and courage that Peter will soon knock at our doors and in good health.
What we don’t know is, is it a crime or an offence to ask for better working conditions for doctors.
Is it a crime to ask for better working conditions for doctors and nurses, is it a crime to ask for medical equipment to be availed in hospitals so that patients get better treatment.</blockquote>

Abducted Doctor's Family Speaks Of Its Anguish

There has been debate over the abduction of <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwean_Hospital_Doctors_Association">Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association</a> (ZHDA) acting president Dr <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Dr_Peter_Magombeyi">Peter Magombeyi</a>, especially surrounding a WhatsApp message that he sent after he was taken from his home.
Some critics have accused the missing doctor of stage-managing the kidnapping, arguing that an abducted person can’t have access to a phone, let alone send messages in the presence of their captors.
It has however been established that a captive can communicate even while in the hands of captors.
In 2013, in the State of Colorado, the United States of America, a 16-year-old girl who had disappeared reportedly sent a distress message to friends saying she was with a man and “scared.”
Jessica Shepherd was last heard from at around 10:50 p.m. on a Tuesday when she sent SMS and Facebook messages to friends, saying she was “with a guy named Dave” and “scared” and urged her friends to call the police.
The police found Jessica early Thursday morning after numerous tips were sent to them, one of the tips gave police an address for a man called “Dave,” who in turn gave police a second address where they were able to successfully locate the teen.

Can An Abducted Person Send A Message From A Phone? Yes!

Apostle T Chiwenga has lashed out on news agencies who reported that he was abducted.In a FaceBook post, the man of the cloth denied that he was abducted and accused news agencies of peddling falsehoods. Chiwenga claims that he was caught in the crossfire when police were clashing with illegal vendors in the Harare CBD as vendors sought refuge at his usual preaching spot.
He also said the fleeing vendors disrupted his service and he was not taken into custody by the police or abducted as was claimed in the media. Chiwenga accused news agencies of paddling falsehoods to further their own selfish agendas. He also said that he did not call anyone from  Zim Eye as is claimed by some news agencies.

Apostle T Chiwenga Says He Was Not Abducted Blasts News Agencies

Today is the international day of the victims of enforced disappearances. The day is celebrated on August 30 every year. Below is a list that does not include Jestina Mukoko and Itai Dzamara whose abductions have been covered immensely by the media. These people were abducted by suspected state security agents:

<li>Zachariah Nkomo, the brother of Harrison Nkomo, a leading human rights lawyer who was working for Jestina Mukoko’s release, abducted at around midnight on December 5 2008 by four unidentified men in civilian clothes from his home in Rujeko, Masvingo. The men responsible for the abduction were traveling in two green-and-silver Toyota Virgo twin cabs.</li>
<li>Ghandi Mudzingwa, former personal assistant to the MDC-T leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, abducted December 8, 2008 in Msasa, Harare after his car was forced off the road. He was taken into a waiting vehicle (a Mazda 626) by nine armed men who were driving in a convoy of six vehicles.</li>
<li> Patrick Nabanyana, former campaign manager for former Education Minister David Coltart. He disappeared without trace and has not been seen or heard from since 2000.</li>
<li>Paul Chizuze, went missing in 2012 in Bulawayo when he was 54.</li>
</ol>
