The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reported that nineteen police recruits were arrested for engaging in disorderly behaviour in Harare Central Business District (CBD). Reports suggest that the “police recruits” were indiscriminately beating members of the public during the evening hours of Friday, August 18, 2023.
In a statement seen by Pindula News, police national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed that investigations are currently underway. He said:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that investigations are currently underway in connection with the unruly conduct exhibited by some Police recruits in Harare Central Business District on 18th August 2023 between 1830 hours and 1930 hours.
Nineteen (19) Police recruits have been arrested and will face the due processes of the law.
The Commissioner-General of Police does not condone violent behaviour by any police officer and assures the public of the professionalism of police officers as they interact with the people of Zimbabwe and visitors.

Nyathi said further information regarding the incident will be provided at a later stage.
There have been calls to ascertain the authorities who deployed these police recruits. Some speculate that they may be ZANU PF supporters who were provided with police uniforms. Various individuals on social media have expressed their opinions, with some questioning the credibility of the recruits and others applauding the response taken. However, further details such as the recruits’ identities and recruitment process remain undisclosed. 
Police brutality, particularly in major cities, is a recurring issue that persists before, during, and after elections. In 2018, during protests against the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission’s (ZEC) delayed announcement of presidential results, six civilians lost their lives at the hands of the police and army in the CBD of Harare. ZRP: 19 Police Recruits Arrested For Beating The Public In Harare

A man from Harare has been brought before the Harare Magistrates Court on charges of disorderly conduct for throwing stones at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s motorcade with stones on Julius Nyerere Way in Harare.
Benjamin Mupombwe, who is 30 years old and from Epworth, appeared before Magistrate Dennis Mangosi on Friday and has since been remanded in custody pending his bail application today. The State is the complainant in this matter.
<h3>What Happened?</h3>
According to the allegations, a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) was deployed on July 4, 2023, at the intersection of Julius Nyerere Way and Robson Manyika Avenue to control traffic while waiting for the presidential motorcade to pass. As the motorcade made its way through, Mupombwe is accused of throwing stones at it, resulting in his arrest.
In April this year, Masimba Graig Muganira, a man from Epworth, was prevented by State security agents from confronting President Emmerson Mnangagwa during a speech in the dormitory town. Muganira attempted to breach security and race to the podium to confront Mnangagwa, but he was stopped a few meters away and allegedly assaulted behind the VVIP tent.
In yet another recent case, Dumisani Dangirwa, a 43-year-old man from Harare, was arrested for insulting Mnangagwa, alleging that the ZANU PF leader was a failure and would lose the elections scheduled for August 23. Dangirwa was remanded in custody.

Man Arrested For Throwing Stones At President Mnangagwa's Motorcade

A 29-year-old man from Harare has been brought to court for allegedly stealing a car from his drunk friend. The defendant, George Chatambudza, had been asked by his intoxicated colleague to drive him home, but he is alleged to have driven off with the car after dropping him off.
The car was only recovered a week later after the accused was involved in an accident. Chatambudza appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court on Wednesday, where he was remanded in custody and advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
In a separate case, a man suspected of being an armed robber disguised as a pirate taxi driver has appeared in court facing two charges of armed robbery.
Jeremiah Makaza, aged 37, and his accomplices (who are still at large) allegedly picked up passengers in the Harare Central Business District, claiming they were en route to Kadoma before diverting to a farm along Bulawayo Road. There, they produced guns and knives and demanded cash and valuables from the passengers. The passengers were then stripped naked before being dumped along the road. Makaza was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

Harare Man In Court For Stealing Car From Drunk Friend

The Meteorological Services Department (MSD), in conjunction with the Department of Civil Protection, has issued the <a class="MarkdownLink_linkifiedLink__KxC9G">Zimbabwe evening weather report</a> and forecast for Wednesday 21 June 2023, valid until Friday 23 June 2023.
MSD reported that a change in the <a class="MarkdownLink_linkifiedLink__KxC9G">wind regime</a> overnight resulted in <a class="MarkdownLink_linkifiedLink__KxC9G">moderate ground frost</a> in Matopos, Lupane, Rusape, and Henderson, and drizzle in Chisumbanje. By evening, the south-easterly winds began to die down.
On Thursday 22 June 2023, very cold morning conditions are anticipated over the Highveld, with moderate ground frost in Matopos, Lupane, Nkayi, Gweru, Henderson, Rusape, Marondera, Nyanga, Mukandi, and Mount Darwin. All other areas will be cold at first, becoming warm by afternoon with clear skies and a cooling breeze towards evening.
The weather outlook for Friday 23 June 2023 predicts cloudy, windy, and cold conditions in certain provinces, including Masvingo, Matabeleland South, and southern areas of the Midlands. <h2>ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS MONDAY 03 APRIL 2023 VALID UNTIL WEDNESDAY 05 APRIL 2023. </h2>
Sunny and warm conditions prevailed across much of the country with cooler mornings, though intercepting cloudy periods were observed in areas to the north of the main watershed which resulted in light showers over Kariba Kanyemba, Gokwe and Nkayi on Sunday afternoon though the rainfall amounts were below 10 mm.
<h2>FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, TUESDAY 04 APRIL 2023</h2>
Clear skies should be predominant across the country with some scattered clouds expected to develop over the northern districts of Harare Metropolitan, all Mashonaland, and Matabeleland North provinces. It should be cool in the morning becoming warm as the day progresses.

• High daytime temperature increases the probability of dehydration and evapotranspiration. 
• Differences between night and daytime temperatures can affect the health of vulnerable members of society

In a weather update seen by Pindula News, MSD said the isolated thundershowers are expected in Matabeleland North, Midlands, Harare Metropolitan, Mashonaland West and Central. Reads the report:

The overnight clearance of clouds over the southern half of the country, namely Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan, southern areas of Midlands, Masvingo and Manicaland led to cool morning conditions with most areas below 15°C. The rest of the day was mostly sunny and warm over these areas However, moisture still present over Matabeleland North, Mashonaland West and Mashonaland Central led to partly cloudy and mild morning conditions. This moisture is slowly spreading further into the country, while cool south-easterly winds are slowly strengthening and flowing from the southeast coast of Southern Africa.
FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, THURSDAY 30 MARCH 2023, 
Matabeleland North, all Mashonaland Provinces, Harare Metropolitan, Midlands and Bulawayo Metropolitan Provinces as well as the northern parts of Matabeleland South (Bulilima, Mangwe and Matobo Districts) are to expect brief cloudy periods and isolated thundershowers. It should be warm by day but mild both morning and evening. Masvingo and the southern parts of both Matabeleland South and Manicaland Provinces should be mostly sunny and warm during the day becoming windy and mild toward evening.

Windy and cool morning conditions are expected in Masvingo, Matabeleland South and the southern parts of Manicaland, with brief cloudy periods in districts such as Beitbridge, Chiredzi and Chipinge into Mwenezi. Mild by day and cool overnight. Mostly cloudy and mild conditions are expected in Matabeleland North, Midlands, Harare Metropolitan, Mashonaland West and Central, with isolated showers which may be thundery in the periphery of the cloud. MSD 29 - 31 March 2023: Expect Isolated Thundershowers

ZESA Holdings subsidiary, Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), says it is generating 951 megawatts (MW) of electricity against a national peak demand of 2 200MW.
The power shortage has resulted in the country experiencing electricity blackouts of up to 18 hours per day in some areas.
Despite the successful synchronisation of Hwange Unit 7 into the national grid, ZETDC call centre supervisor Milton Zata said they were still facing challenges. <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200009437/zesa-only-generating-951mw">NewsDay</a> quotes Zata as saying:

Unfortunately, we have national grid challenges, resulting in these long outages.
</blockquote>
This comes amid reports that traditional power suppliers – South Africa and Mozambique – recently stopped exporting electricity to Zimbabwe due to arrears.
The blackouts are seriously affecting businesses and industries countrywide.
With Hwange Unit 7 appearing to struggle to feed the envisaged 300MW into the national grid following its upgrade, the power crisis is set to persist as Hwange’s Unit 8 is only expected to go live in October with another 300MW.
The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Power_Company">Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC),</a> a ZESA subsidiary, announced Tuesday that the southern African nation was generating 951 MW of electricity at three power stations as shown below:

The highest rainfall was at; Tsholotsho (40mm), Marondera (21mm), Nkayi (17mm) and Victoria Falls (13mm). Meanwhile, the cloud band remains stationary in the west of the country and is not expected to cause significant changes during the forecast period.

 Isolated thunderstorms are expected in the western parts of the country, that is in Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South provinces. Severe Tropical Storm Freddy is still in the Mozambique Channel (more than 500 km east of Nyanga) heading towards the north coast of Mozambique (near Quelimane). Freddy’s outer-spiral cloud bands (stretching over more than a 750 km radius) resulted in cloudy, windy and mild conditions over the southern and eastern parts of the country (Matabeleland South, Masvingo, south-western parts of Midlands, Harare Metropolitan, Manicaland and all Mashonaland Provinces), with light drizzle in Masvingo, Manicaland and southern parts of Mashonaland East. Other parts of the country had mostly sunny but also became windy towards evening.

Windy conditions are expected over much of the country, strengthening towards evening. The outer fringes of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone, currently over the extreme northern parts of the country, resulted in isolated thunderstorms in Harare Metropolitan, Mashonaland Central and Mashonaland East Provinces. Out of these, the highest was only 21mm at Mount Darwin followed by Chinhoyi at 14mm. The rest of the country was mostly sunny due to the influence of Tropical Storm Freddy (currently strengthening near the west coast of Madagascar, more than 1’000 km away), which continues to dry out much of the atmosphere. Meanwhile, moist winds from the southeast coast of Southern Africa have begun encroaching into the southern districts of Masvingo Province.

Cloudy, windy and mild morning conditions are anticipated over Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan, southern parts of Midlands and Masvingo with patchy drizzle. Brief cloudy periods and isolated afternoon showers are expected in the extreme northern parts of Mashonaland Central and West Provinces. Warm by day and mild overnight All other areas should have mostly clear skies, mild at first becoming hot by noon.

MSD Update On Tropical Cyclone Freddy

A shop located along Coventry Road, Harare lost US$45 000 cash to armed robbers who invaded the premise on Thursday 26 January 2023. 
In a report seen by Pindula News, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the robbers were armed with a pistol, machete and a hammer. Reads the report:

The ZRP is investigating an armed robbery case which occurred during the early hours of 26/01/23 at a shop along Coventry Road, Harare where seven suspects who were armed with an unidentified pistol, a machete and a hammer pounced on three security guards who were manning the premise before stealing US$45 000 cash and a DVR camera.

Police are appealing to members of the public who might have information on the case to report at any nearest Police Station. 
Robbery cases involving guns have been on the rise in Zimbabwe in recent years.
Last year, President Emmerson Mnangagwa extended the <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/ed-grants-presidential-amnesty-on-voluntary-surrender-of-firearms-and-ammunitions/">Presidential Amnesty on Voluntary Surrender of Firearms and compliance with the police verification exercise</a> to encourage those illegally possessing firearms to surrender.
Police said about 550 firearms were voluntarily surrendered since then, yet, crimes such as armed robberies and other forms of crimes of passion continue to be reported in Zimbabwe.

A 56-year-old Harare teacher has been remanded in custody pending trial for allegedly raping his 11-year-old learner during extra lessons.
The teacher, Alec Masomera, who is from Dzivarasekwa appeared in court on Friday facing rape charges, according to <a href="https://bulawayo24.com/index-id-news-sc-national-byo-226908.html">Byo24 News</a>.
Masomera was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje.
He was remanded in custody to February 28 for trial commencement and advised to approach the High Court for bail consideration.
What happened:
The state alleged that in July 2022, Masomera enrolled the minor girl on extra lessons and he allegedly started proposing to her but she turned done the proposal.
On the day of the alleged rɑpe, the girl went back home after extra lessons, and her grandmother told her to go back to Masomera so he could help her with homework.
When she went back Masomera allegedly got into his bedroom and summoned the girl and told her to sit on his bed before he raped her.
 Masomera further rɑped the girl again the following day.
The rɑpe came to light when the girl’s aunt observed a change in her behaviour and questioned her.
She then revealed her rɑpe ordeal resulting in Masomera’s arrest.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has announced the arrest of four men for fraud and unlawful acquisition of Presidential farming inputs. In a statement seen by Pindula News, ZRP said the incidents occurred between the 19th and 22nd of October 2022 in Chinhoyi and Harare. Reads the statement:

<h2>ARREST OF FOUR SUSPECTS FOR CASES OF FRAUD AND UNLAWFUL ACQUISITION OF PRESIDENTIAL FARMING INPUTS</h2>
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Johanne Mupope (40), Shacky Gombe (35), Sean Joubert (32) and Charles Gumbeze (41) for cases of fraud and unlawful acquisition of Presidential farming inputs which occurred between the 19th and 22nd October 2022 in Chinhoyi and Harare.
The Police acted on a report of suspiciously packaged 450x50kgs of Kynoch tobacco blend fertilizer which had been delivered to two complainants in Banket.
Police made some follow-ups leading to the arrest of two suspects, Johanne Mupope and Shacky Gombe, who had delivered the fertilizers from Harare to the complainants. The suspects led the detectives to Tynwald Plots, Harare, where Sean Joubert, together with eight others, were found blending and mixing Windmill compound D, Superfert Compound D and Superfert Cotton Blend fertilizers. The fertilizers had been given to farmers under the current Presidential Farming Inputs Scheme and were mixed with anthill granules before being packaged in counterfeit Kynoch branded 50kg bags allegedly manufactured in Mbare, Harare.
Sean Joubert implicated Charles Gumbeze as the supplier of the fertilizers leading to his subsequent arrest. Charles Gumbeze indicated that he got the presidential inputs fertilizer from farmers in Rutenga, Chiredzi, and Bulawayo.
Police recovered 362x50kgs of Kynoch counterfeit tobacco blend fertilizer, 240x50kgs of anthill granules, 90x50kgs mixed presidential inputs fertilizers, 652x50kgs Kynock branded empty bags, one electric sewing machine, 12 volts battery, an inverter, one roll sewing thread and US$14 570-00 at the suspects’ Tynwald premise.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police urges farmers to buy farming inputs from reputable suppliers and warns those abusing inputs benefited from the Government’s Presidential Farming Inputs Scheme that the law will take its course.

Four Arrested Over Fraud And Unlawful Acquisition Of Presidential Farming Inputs

Ethiopian Airlines is set to launch its new service to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe on 30th October using a Boeing 737-800. 
Ethiopian’s flight will stop in Victoria Falls before carrying on to Bulawayo and then direct to Addis Ababa.
Airport authorities are excited to see new foreign airlines landing at Bulawayo Airport (BUQ) after an upgrade in its flying facilities recently, according to Bulawayo24. 
Flights will leave Addis Ababa (ADD) at 08:30 AM bound for their usual service to Victoria Falls (VFA), landing at 12:10 PM local time. After an hour on the ground, the flight continues to Bulawayo, touching down at 13:55 local time. 
The flight will operate 4x weekly, on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The return service leaves BUQ at 14:55 and lands at Ethiopian’s hub in ADD at 20:45 local time, 4 hours and 50 minutes later.
The flight will use one of Ethiopian’s Boeing 737-800s, a workhorse in the continental fleet. 
From December 1st onward, the 737-800 will take over the route for the future.
Bulawayo is already served by a few international airlines, but none as big as Ethiopian Airlines. 
The African giant’s entry means that passengers flying in and out of Bulawayo now have the opportunity to make a one-stop connection (or two on the way in) to the US, Europe, Asia, and the rest of the continent with relative ease.
Airline executives in the country also said cargo can come directly from Dar es Salaam, Dubai, China or Turkey among others direct into Bulawayo instead of transporting their cargo to Harare and then move their goods by road to Bulawayo.

Ethiopian Airlines Set To Introduce Flights To Bulawayo End Of October

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has a Harare man over the theft of a car in Adbernie on Tuesday afternoon. A police report seen by Pindula News says Tadiwanashe Pepa stole a parked Toyota Aqua. Read the police report:

Police in Harare have arrested Tadiwanashe Pepa (35) in connection with a case of theft of a motor vehicle which occurred in Adbernie on 18/10/22 at around 1400 hours.
The suspect stole an unregistered Toyota Aqua vehicle which was parked with keys on the ignition at a house along Spurn Road.

Meanwhile, police in Bulawayo arrested Elias Mpofu (29) on Monday 17 October 2022 for a robbery case which occurred at Bona Mine, Inyathi on 15 October 2022 at around 0010 hours.
It is alleged that Mpofu, together with his three accomplices who are still at large, attacked two mine workers who were sleeping in the offices before stealing US$1 365, two (2) cell phones and 66.3g of gold. The suspects were armed with a pick and an axe.
In a different case, ZRP Kuwadzana arrested Dexter Mugaro (28) and Point Nzaramwarima (31) in connection with two cases of rape and four cases of robbery which occurred in Kuwadzana area Harare between August and October 2022.

Harare Man Arrested For Stealing A Parked Vehicle

A 31-year-old Harare man set his employer’s vehicle ablaze to conceal the theft of US$90 000 he had been given to deliver to Bulawayo.
This emerged when the man, Moffat Tembo, appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi answering to theft and malicious damage to property charges, according to <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/man-sets-employers-car-ablaze-after-stages-us90-000-robbery/">NewZimbabwe</a>.
<h2>What happened:</h2>
It is alleged that on October 10, Tembo was asked to run an errand on behalf of his employer, transporting funds amounting to US$90 000 from Harare to Bulawayo.
The court heard that Tembo connived with his co-worker Vimbai Matereke whom he gave the money at the White House along Bulawayo Road in Harare before proceeding with his journey.
On a five km peg into <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Chegutu">Chegutu</a>, he allegedly stopped, sprinkled petrol on his employer’s Toyota Allion vehicle and then set it on fire. The fire was later put out by the Chegutu fire brigade.
His employer only identified as Dean was called and he instructed Tembo to report the matter to the Chegutu police station.
He, however, failed or neglected to do so, triggering suspicions.
The matter was later investigated, and it was established that Tembo had faked the robbery.
Magistrate Dennis Mangosi remanded him in custody until October 18, 2022.

Employee Sets Car On Fire To Conceal Theft Of US$90 000

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has appealed to members of the public who may help in the identification of three accident victims. In a statement seen by Pindula News, police national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi says the accidents happened in Harare and Chivhu. Reads the statement:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing to the public with missing relatives to assist in identifying two victims, a man and a woman, who died in two separate road traffic accidents which occurred in Harare and Chivhu.
The first victim Is a male adult, approximately 30 years old, who was hit by an unknown motorist along Rotten Row Road, opposite Harare Magistrate court in Harare on 21st July 2022 at around 2145 hours. The body is at Parirenyahva Hospital mortuary.
The second victim is a female adult who was a passenger in a Freightliner truck which was involved in a road traffic accident at the 106 km peg along Harare-Masvingo Road on.25th June 2022 at around 1930 hours. The victim died on the spot and the body is at Chivhu Hospital mortuary.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a case in which the body of an unknown woman was found floating in Inyagui River, Juni, Murewa, on 20th May 2022. The body, which was in its advanced stage of decomposition, had a yellow floral dress and a black top. The body is at Murewa Hospital mortuary. The Police appeals for Information which can assist to identify the victim. Police Appeal For Information For Identification Of Three Accident Victims

Harare City Council (HCC) has said most Western western suburbs are now accessing water except for Budiriro. 
Most of the suburbs had little to no water for over a week after the local government authority had shut down Morton Jaffray Waterworks citing “unprecedented chemical supply challenges.”

Harare Says Most Western Suburbs Are Now Accessing Water Except For Budiriro

Here is the Zimbabwe Weather Update for tomorrow 25 March 2021 according to the Meteorological Services Department of Zimbabwe which started that Harare and Mashonaland provinces will be cloudy tomorrow and the rest of the country will be sunny.
Said the MSD in a statement:

Rain and drizzle permeated areas along and to the south of the main watershed [namely Matabeleland South, southern areas of the Midlands (from Gweru southward through to Zvishavane), southern areas of Mashonaland East (Marondera to Chivhu), Masvingo and “Manicaland Provinces] yesterday.
