Second-half goals from Namibian striker Sadney Urikhob and Tymon Machope secured the win for the Mabvuku-based side, marking their second consecutive victory. 
Scottland now sit at the top with 6 points from two games, boasting a goal difference of +3. In contrast, CAPS United are struggling in 16th place, with just one point from their two matches.
Meanwhile, in another match on Sunday, Brighton Ncube’s hat-trick was the highlight as Highlanders triumphed 4-0 over Kwekwe United in their first home game of the 2025 PSL season at Barbourfields Stadium.
Melikhaya Ncube scored Highlanders’ opening goal, heading the ball past Kwekwe goalkeeper Elton Nechirwe from a cross delivered by Mason Mushore.
Highlanders are currently in 6th place on the log with 3 points, having recovered from a 1-0 loss to MWOS on Matchday One. Kwekwe United, with a single point, sit 17th in the standings.

Moor’s World of Sport (MWOS), newcomers to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL), secured a historic 1-0 victory over Highlanders in their first-ever top-flight match at Baobab Stadium in Mhondoro on Sunday, February 2.
Salif Cheya capitalised on a defensive blunder between Highlanders goalkeeper Raphael Pitisi and his defenders, calmly slotting the ball into the net from close range just after the hour mark.
In other matches, Dynamos played out a goalless draw against ZPC Kariba at Rufaro, while CAPS United, another member of the so-called “Big Three,” were held to a 1-1 draw by Green Fuel at the Green Fuel Arena on Saturday.
Besides MWOS’s victory, three other matches over the weekend saw winners: Scottland defeated Triangle United 1-0 on Friday, Herentals College triumphed 2-1 over Telone on Saturday, and Manica Diamonds edged Yadah 1-0. The remaining matches ended in draws.

PSL 2025 Matchday One Fixtures: Scottland Host Triangle In Season Opener

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is still awaiting confirmation from ZIFA regarding which team will occupy the Southern Region Soccer League (SRSL) slot in the top-flight league.
This follows the 2024 SRSL title winner, ZPC Hwange, entering into a strategic partnership with Norton-based MWOS, who will now take over the slot.
MWOS, which competed in the Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) in 2024, finished second in the title race behind Scottland.
PSL communications officer, Kudzai Bare, spoke to <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/premiership-fixtures-out-await-zifa-confirmation-on-southern-region-slot/">Zimpapers Sports Hub</a> after the release of the 2025 fixture and indicated that they expect confirmation soon. She said:

The PSL on Monday unveiled the fixtures for the 2025 season, although the exact commencement dates are still to be confirmed.
The season will kick off with the Castle Challenge Cup, featuring the 2024 league champions, Simba Bhora, facing off against Chibuku Super Cup winner, Dynamos, at Rufaro Stadium on February 22.
The much-anticipated clash between giants Highlanders and Dynamos is set for Week 14 in Harare, with the return leg scheduled for Week 31.
The first “Battle of the Cities” between Highlanders and CAPS United will occur early, in Week Six, while the Harare Derby featuring Dynamos and CAPS United will follow in Week 12.
Highlanders will start their season away to newly promoted MWOS, who have taken over ZPC Hwange’s PSL status.
Dynamos will host ZPC Kariba while defending champions Simba Bhora face a challenging opener at home against FC Platinum.
Newly promoted Scottland will host Triangle United, while Chicken Inn will take on Bikita Minerals.
Prince Matore’s Kwekwe United side will welcome Ngezi Platinum Stars at home, with the opening week concluding as Herentals host TelOne.
CAPS United will kick off their campaign away to Greenfuel, while Manica Diamonds will play host to Yadah.

Premier Soccer League (PSL) Chairman Farai Jere and Vice Chairman Lifa Ncube have stepped down after their terms of office expired on 31 December 2024.
In a statement on Thursday, 23 January, the PSL announced that the remaining members of the PSL Emergency Committee, Masimba Chihowa, Moses Maunganidze, and Isaiah Mupfurutsa, will manage the League’s affairs until elections are held to fill the positions. The statement reads:

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) wishes to inform all stakeholders that, following a resolution by the Board of Governors during an Extraordinary General Meeting held on 19 December 2024, the PSL Chairman, Hon Farai Jere and Vice Chairman, Mr Lifa Ncube have stepped down from their respective positions. This follows the expiration of their terms of office on 31 December 2024.

Kennedy Ndebele, the CEO of the Premier Soccer League (PSL), has resigned from his position, effective January 24, 2025.

Ndebele is running for vice president of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) in the upcoming elections on January 25, 2025.

The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) announced on Thursday that it has acquired 1.4 hectares of land in Borrowdale Estates, Harare, to build its first permanent headquarters.
Outgoing PSL chairman Farai Jere, whose term ends on December 31, announced the development during the unveiling of a plaque at the construction site.
The project will include modern offices, a training centre, a football pitch, a conference facility, and residential apartments. It will also house offices for women’s football. He said:

Jere, who is running for the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) presidency in the January 25 elections, said the land acquisition is one of his final goals as PSL chairman.
He will compete against Walter Magaya, Nqobile Magwizi, Temba Mliswa, Martin Kweza, Phillemon Machana, and others, all of whom must pass an ethics and integrity test.

Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League Secures Land For Headquarters

Bulawayo Chiefs and Hwange were relegated from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) on Saturday, November 23, and joined already relegated Arenel Movers and Chegutu, after they finished 15th and 16th on the log standings.
Bulawayo Chiefs took the lead before losing 2-1 at Manica Diamonds, while Hwange suffered a 2-0 loss against Bikita Minerals, who escaped the chop in the process.
Arenel Movers became the first team to be officially relegated from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
Chegutu Pirates will make their way back to the Northern Region Soccer League after just one season in the top flight, as was Arenel Movers.
Bulawayo Chiefs were the best placed of the relegation candidates as they had destiny in their own hands at Sakubva Stadium.
They needed three points without worrying about results elsewhere and they looked on course when they took the lead off a 62nd-minute penalty by Migoz Svinurai.
However, Manica Diamonds turned the tables with two goals in two minutes.
Evans Katema equalised from the spot in the 82nd minute and the goal was timely for his former club, Bikita Minerals, who were leading against Hwange at Wadzanai Stadium.
Michael Tapera then won the game for Manica Diamonds two minutes later.
This means that the 2025 ZIFA Southern Region Soccer League will have three teams from the PSL, that is Bulawayo Chiefs, Hwange and Arenel Movers.
Bulawayo Chiefs finished the 2024 PSL season with 36 points, followed by Hwange with 35 points, Chegutu Pirates on 33 points, and Arenel Movers at the bottom with 23 points.
Meanwhile, GreenFuel beat Dynamos 2-1 to complete the season unbeaten at home in the first full season using the GreenFuel Arene in Chisumbanje.

The 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions, Simba Bhora, suffered their first home defeat of the season on Saturday, losing 2-0 to FC Platinum.
Simba Bhora, who had already secured the PSL title with a 2-0 win over relegated Arenel Movers earlier in the week, were undone by goals from Panashe Mutimbanyoka and Thando Ngwenya.
Mutimbanyoka opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, and Ngwenya sealed the victory for FC Platinum with a goal in the 85th minute.
Meanwhile, the 2023 PSL champions, Ngezi Platinum Stars, triumphed 4-0 over Herentals, with Obriel Chirinda scoring a brace, and Tinotenda Meke and Tanaka Munemo adding the other goals.
Chicken Inn secured a 3-0 victory over Bikita Minerals, who are still fighting to avoid relegation.
On Sunday, relegation-threatened Hwange fought back with a dramatic 4-3 win over Highlanders at the Colliery, keeping their survival hopes alive.
In another twist, Chegutu Pirates, despite a 2-0 victory over CAPS United, were relegated after just one season in the Premiership.
ZPC Kariba (38 points), Bulawayo Chiefs (38 points), Bikita Minerals (35 points), and Hwange (35 points) are still in the relegation battle heading into the final round of fixtures.
However, both ZPC Kariba and Bulawayo Chiefs are almost certain to retain their Premiership status, even if they lose their final matches, as their goal differences are significantly better than those of Bikita Minerals and Hwange.
ZPC Kariba has a goal difference of -2, while Bulawayo Chiefs have -6. In contrast, Bikita Minerals have a goal difference of -11 and Hwange -16, making it highly unlikely that they will overtake ZPC Kariba and Bulawayo Chiefs in the standings, even if they win their respective matches.

The 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) fixtures for Matchday 32 will be played on Wednesday and Thursday.
Log leaders Simba Bhora, sitting on 63 points, can secure the title if they avoid defeat against relegated Arenel Movers at Luveve Stadium on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, second-placed FC Platinum will be aiming to maintain their position, although it would take a dramatic collapse similar to the famous “Devon Loch” incident for them to overtake Simba Bhora and claim the title.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) and the Premier Soccer League (PSL) have expressed their condolences to Highlanders Football Club following the passing of the club’s chief executive officer, Sihlangu Dlodlo.
Dlodlo was found dead at his home in Nketa 9, Bulawayo, on Monday at the age of 60. Friends reported that he was last seen alive on Saturday, two days before his body was discovered.
Concerned family and friends had to break down his gate to find him unresponsive through a window.
In a statement, ZIFA said Dlodlo’s death has left an irreplaceable void, impacting not only Highlanders but the entire Zimbabwean football community. Said ZIFA:

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has rejected a request by Chicken Inn FC to increase gate charges for their match against Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.
The Gamecocks, who use Luveve Stadium as their home ground, decided to host Bosso at the larger Barbourfields Stadium, presumably to accommodate the thousands of passionate Highlanders fans expected to attend the match.
Knowing Highlanders’ devoted fan base, Chicken Inn likely believed that hosting the game at the bigger venue would allow them to capitalize on the anticipated high attendance by hiking ticket prices, potentially providing a significant financial windfall.
However, in responding to Chicken Inn’s request, PSL Chief Executive Officer Kenny Ndebele stated that the standard gate charges would apply for the match.
Ndebele did not provide a detailed explanation for the PSL’s decision to reject Chicken Inn’s proposal, though in the past, similar requests from other clubs have been rejected. Wrote Ndebele:

Gate charges for your match against Highlanders FC shall remain as follows; Rest of Ground: US$3, VIP: US$5 and VVIP: US$10.
Meanwhile, football fans are divided over the move by the PSL to reject Chicken Inn’s request to hike gate charges.

Media consultant, Makomborero Mutimukulu, condemned the move and suggested that Ndebele has links to Highlanders. He said:

When Highlanders played FC Platinum, the Bulawayo giants again applied to increase gate charges, THAT WAS TURNED DOWN.
New boys Chegutu Pirates made an application to increase their gate charges against Highlanders at Baobab Stadium, THAT WAS TURNED DOWN yet the match attracted a paltry 1 069 paying fans.
It is undeniable that Chicken Inn are aware that Highlanders are on a roll and buoyed on by the 12th man, Barbourfields Stadium may be a nightmare for them hence increasing the charges would likely reduce the number of fans.

Had we been playing Bulawayo Chiefs we would have gladly paid $5. Justify why you are worth $5 ROG by the product you offer and of all Byo teams, Chicken Inn have no right to demand $5 ROG. After all, they will be rolling around from minute 1.

2024 PSL Season: Matchday 21 Fixtures And Venues – Manica Diamonds Host Ngezi Platinum Stars
